iFly will beat PMDG in releasing the 737 Max in MSFS

One thing I saw in FD2Sim's latest video is that he killed an engine approaching the gate and the plane immediately stopped rolling, until he applied a good handful of thrust on the remaining engine.  That definitely should not happen, as he also remarked.  What it makes me wonder about is their single engine flight model.  Remember how the Fenix couldn't do a V1 cut or really any single engine work for over a year?  Sure hope that's not going to be the case here, would be kind of a glaring error.  This is stuff the PMDG could do out of the box, even way back in FSX.

That's concerning. Every iFly 737 in FSX/P3D from the NG to the MAX in P3D v5 had completely unrealistic taxi behavior and engine spool behavior because for some reason, iFly always relied on the default FSX/P3D models for these things rather than develop a custom solution like every other aircraft developer. Seeing the engine spool behavior being off again in MSFS and at least single engine taxi behaving like the plane is taxiing through deep mud like in FSX/P3D is a little concerning. That stuff needs to be spot on given it's 2024 and we're weeks away from MSFS2024.

SN737

You can now buy a pre-release version (early access If you want to call it that) of the iFly 737 MAX 8

Quote

We want to start testing purchasing through the iFly Manager. You can see a picture of how it looks before and after. If you want to get the pre-release MAX8 now, go to https://manager.flight1.net/ and download the tool. Note that this is still early release. More information will be posted later. If you get the early version, hit the Discord button to gain access to the support area. Please do not post support issues in the non-support area. For those given early access already, no need to do anything. Keep using your existing license. (edited)

The product price is $69.95 USD. If you are a purchaser of the iFly MAX8 for Prepar3D v5, we are offering 40% off. You must be logged into the same account as your original purchase (a popup message will appear before purchasing with the new price). So please make sure you use the same account as your original Prepar3D v5 purchase. If you purchased through a 3rd party, click this link to convert your order to our system: https://www.flight1.com/ticket.asp?supportid=12 (you would need the Flight1 Agent for that).

Important: The product is not in the Flight1 Agent or listed on our site as a new product. It is being tested only through the iFly Manager. After official release, it will show in the Agent.

Awesome work as always Steve!

Thanks Dave.   Between me and Jviation, Canada is very well represented.  The only ones we didn't make are Sunwing (although I did the TUI seasonal), and Lynx...otherwise...

In addition to ACA Swoop....

Ok, so it's not listed on the Flight1 website as a pre-release purchase? Only via the iFly Manager?

Correct, it's not listed on the Flight1 website. Not sure if that will change at all. But you head to: https://manager.flight1.net/ and download the iFly Manager and purchase it through that.

I hate the fact that some retailers make you install software on your PC just so you can buy their products. I have had one or two that even inserted their app in the startup folder.

Fantastic, I’ll be happy to retire the 737-800 Air Canada stand in I’ve been using.

With todays release I think I’ll be spending today flying WestJet Transatlantic DUB-YHZ!

Except you don't need to do that. This is a pre-release version where they are explicitly testing their payment system through the Flight1 Manager. Upon full release it will be available on the usual websites.

This is not a full release, it will contain bugs and issues that are still being hashed out. It's also why it was specifically not announced on their usual marketing platforms.

I don't think they have released required system specs anywhere did they? This info is difficult to judge from just watching streamers as everyone has different system specs.

Well I must say it performs a lot better then I had anticipated - Steady FPS with low CPU usage, Even if the external module is running. There are bugs here and there but hey it is a pre-release product after all, I am looking forward to more updates as well as 8200 model which Ryanair uses!

This is something Fenix does not do well - It is good product but just not optimised for those who might have slightly older systems. Not everyone has latest generation cards (Well I am going to but it won't be instant)

I have not bought this yet, but one thing I have noticed on every single stream I have been watching is how twitchy the aircraft is when taxiing.  The left/right movements are immersion killers.  Why are people not dampening  the twitchy steering with control curves?
