If there's core sim features missing, than yes it's a different version.

For the life of me, I can't understand why this is so difficult for him to grasp.

Anyway, at this point, I'm fully convinced this is a really old janky build of the sim that predates what the influencers and press got to try. Aside from some of the missing features, the main reason I think this is the instability. The GPE version was the first STABLE version and none of the folks experienced regular crashes. In this stress test build, crashes are an inevitability so I can't call it stable.

Well, after a few more test flights, and although each time I change airplane I have to redefine the controllers settings ... having in mind it's just an Alpha, I find it motivating enough for me to decide to buy.

Which version I will buy this time I'm still not absolutely sure...

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Frankly I don't see any way this Alpha build can be anything but a harbinger of DOOM.

Anyway, I've enjoyed it so far. The glitches and incomplete stuff have mostly given me a good chuckle, and the improvements (especially in ground/flight handling and lighting) have been really enjoyable.

I personally don't have specific expectations for release; expectations are for suckers. I'll keep plugging along in life and see what we see when it releases. I have many hobbies I enjoy; my favorite hobby is not getting worked up over stuff like this.

As one who has about 200 hours in Piper Cherokees, Turbo Arrows and Beech Debonairs...back in the old "steam gauge days"...I find what we have here is completely astounding. I just went up with an instructor in a 172 to get back into it after a long hiatus, and although I am using an XBox controller, this thing feels great and seems to respond to power and control input just like the real thing. Guess a beast of a graphics card and some real controllers and rudder pedals will be hinted to family for this holiday season!

P.S. The negativity is comical. Obviously some love to get a rise out of others on a weekend.

This is the core sim. Asobo don't have multiple version they have the core and features that plug into it.
This is the core with features taken out.

How do you know that though? How do you know this is not an older build, or a build with different codepaths, added telemetry etc? They have *not* said this is a subset of the latest/stable codebase (on path towards release).

In fact there are glaring clues as to what this build is, given what they have actually said:

"The Technical Alpha build was created with the sole intent to gather telemetry and feedback on online services. The content available for the Technical Alpha is limited in scope. You may also encounter obvious crashes, bugs, and issues"

Gotta say though given the propensity of the simming community to assume/presume the worst, doom & gloom, set their hair on fire, etc  MS/Asobo were pretty bold to run this stress test without NDA or more selective user selection 😅

We thought EXACTLY the same thing in the 2020 Beta just a couple of weeks before release.

It wasn't true then, I don't believe it's true now.

No reason to get worked up over a game! But as a software developer i do watch huge project launches like this with a morbid fascination lol.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm very entertained and fascinated by the process. I'm also fascinated by my fellow human beings 😄

Dude we literally know of a build out there that is more stable than this one. I even mentioned it in my post! What are you doing?

No, I'm just not willing to give MS and Asobo a pass this close to the release date.

Yawn…..

So you have the build number of the influencer version to confirm it post-dates this build ?
But honestly it's not the stability of this test release that concerns me, my problems are with bugs and really rough edges with the system when they aren't crashing.

I checked my MSFS settings there was a way to tweak tobii to get what I want. In 2024 I can see tobii as along device but when I press settings to tweak curves sim crashes 😞

I had the same, but read somewhere that it works fine using a piece of software called Opentrack. Installed it and worked flawlessly (there is a good video on youtube on settings) - will probably even keep it for FS2020.

Best regards,

Taking into account this is a stripped down Alpha build - for the testers, is there anything you’ve seen which concerns you?
