  • Flew for around for 3 hours and had the most fun since those beginning days of 2020. The attention to detail is crazy. Went back to my old home field of KRYV in the XCub and did some touch 'n go's. Us

I am in.

Everything is very sluggish of course.

Impossible to tell what it is really like without the server load reducing, and I don't know how my rubbish Internet will stand up in normal times.

Even without the strain, I can't see myself being able to zip around without having to wait for everything to load in as I have to do photogrammetry in 2020. That might get old.

Be patient.
I had it working two hours ago - and it ran extremely well.
KLAX, Carbon Cub, everything maxed out. Tons of live traffic. Running crisp, first load took about 5 minutes to load the airport and the town. Photogrammetry of Los Angeles identical to FS2020, no scenery pop-in neither at low level nor at the 3.000 ft of my highest point.
DSR3 frame generation works well with my 3090Ti, framerates on my 5900x/3090Ti system significantly better than FS2020: 55 (on the runway at KLAX) - 70 fps (over the town). Turning the head is very smooth.
Absolutely no stutter during my 15 minute test.

At a first glance I'd say that the promised performance increase happened.
Very satisfied so far.

My Internet is at the absolute bottom of the recommended spec so I ain't in for a good time whatever happens.

It seems OK ish, but might get tiresome quickly.

I'm in again!

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

After leaving the load screen on,  I went to out to dinner and when I came back the sim was running. When I exited and tried to get back, I got the queue screen again.

Anyway impressions:

The atmosphere is much more hazy when I flew with clear skys. The scenery did look more detailed, but It's hard to say. I just did a circuit around my local airfield, KLOM. Wings Field in PA.

Took awhile to get the controls working. You have to set everything from scratch. I forget how I set up all the views I assigned to the number keypad. I was able to set POV settings so I could pan with my joystick and reset to the basic view. The spacebar does not automatically reset the view, which surprised me, however the mouse movement worked fine with having to set it up. The arrow keys rotate instead of pan...I'll have to change that. I had to manually set the external view toggle to see the outside view.

The sim didn't like my VKB joystick when I looked at the sensitivity settings and set axix's,  but did recognize the Saitek throttle and assigned functions to the buttons and levers.

I tried TAA and DLSS with my 3080, and there was a big difference in FPS and a slight loss of clarity with DLSS super.

I used the lossless scaling app and it worked fine, no glitches.

Really hard to tell if the flight model was different on such a short flight. I landed the Bonanza fine, but there was no sound or jerk when the wheels touched down.

Many assists are on, so if you want a pure experience you have to search the menus and turn all that stuff off. Not so easy as it should be.

More to come...

Fingers crossed!
Once it had loaded, I had the same data consumtion as FS2020.

One more thing...it appears that all the additional scenery areas are automatically streamed, so you don't have to download them and choose which ones you want. That part of the marketplace did work.

Flew for about two hours, good and bad, I want to like it but....... We'll see, it's still early!

Finally installed. Max 8 at CYWG. Made a fp in Simbrief and exported for EFB. Fast loading. Clean. I'm liking what I'm seeing. Lots of testing coming up.

Been playing for an hour. It is AMAZING. Now that it's finally working, the full package really is something.

9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

So a few items, You can set the keyboard presets to the 2020 version. This really helped.

Don't know if this is good or bad, but every time you choose a new plane, you have to go to settings and choose a profile. This maybe because I have a VKB stick or maybe it's so each plane needs a custom profile.

Flew into KPHL, Philly international in the VisionJet. There were no planes at the the jetways. Just random planes on the ground. Airport look good though and the signage looked right as well.

The graphics are definitely improved in a subtle way. Very nice. FPS seems the same as 2020.

Didn't get very far with the weather, but the humidity setting didn't seem to do anything. I tried live weather for a minute but didn't pay enough attention.

I loaded a few planes into the community folder with addon linker. The ones I picked didn't work but they showed up. Not Asobo planes.

Got in three times today. The Hercules is the same as in 2020 but the water effects are wonderful. Cessna works about the same. I remember setting up FS9 and FSX with their control settings and this is nothing new. Fly until you're missing a control and go ahead and add it. I've got a solid mid tier system and so far it's running great even at high settings. The only thing I've done to prepare is to upgrade to 64mg of RAM. Can't wait to do more.

Probably, but one issue I don’t have is always assuming MS-Asobo are lying, and sticking to my guns about it when proven wrong.
