November 20, 20241 yr Author Be interested to know what regions people are in, basic continental server wise. Are there even regional servers involved or is it all central these days with routers doing all the work? A topographic /tree view of the whole system and loads would be very interesting to see right now. Russell Gough SE London
November 20, 20241 yr Happy to report that my home water does not look horrible like it did in the alpha! 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.
November 20, 20241 yr Initially loaded the Game Pass version with missing aircraft then exiting making a mistake and never got back further than the grey queuing screen. This will be resolved although if the servers are so overwhelmed who knows when.
November 20, 20241 yr Something has been fixed! I am able to log in and play now. Still checking to see if all planes etc are in. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
November 20, 20241 yr Never mind chums, have just been flying the nice new (free) Boeing 777 cargo in Aerofly FS4.....that works fine, can't believe so many of you fell for the repeat of the fs2020 first years aggro, and multiple debacles. Why didn't you wait until most problems had been ironed out to buy it? Four years!! 😝 P.S. never mind WW3 may start in the next few hours. Edited November 20, 20241 yr by seamaster55

November 20, 20241 yr I'm in western Washington. Bought the Aviator edition on Steam. Loaded fine as expected. I have a Ryzen 9 7950X , 64GB, and Radeon 6900XT. Started with Free Flight, only had 4 aircraft available at startup but thought maybe I have to qualify to unlock the others but saw later in Microsoft forum that is a known bug and should fix itself upon your second attempt at loading. Took off in the Cub (I think that's what it was) from my local airstrip. The scenery overall looked much better than 2020, much more google earth like than 2020. (I could see my truck in the driveway) Flew up I-5 through Tacoma to Seattle. Noticed the freeways were different... you could see the static image of cars on the freeway from the satellite picture with simulated cars driving over them. The water looked better, no rivers on the sides of hills like before. I have a relatively slow connection (about 25-75 mbps) but most things loaded fine but did noticed when I flew by Seattle-Tacoma airport, the terminal and parking garage were missing. The cars from the 8 story garage were floating in the air! Got buzzed by a jet and whoa you can hear them very well fly by! That was cool! The trees in 2020 I though were relatively too small but the trees in 2024 seem like they are too large. Couldn't even see my house because it was buried in trees... not that way in Google earth. I though the clouds, weather, and environment were better than 2020. Was playing around with some camera views when mine crashed to desktop. Now I'm endlessly in the queue when attempting to restart the program. No progress update in the queue, after waiting 3 hours is it just hung up or am I still "in line"? No way to close the program once you're there except ctrl/alt/del.
November 20, 20241 yr If you are stuck in the queue, exit the sim (easiest way to gracefully close is hitting the Start button on your keyboard and then right-clicking MSFS 2024 on the taskbar and close). Close the XBox app or Steam... for the Xbox app, make sure it is fully closed by ending it in the task manager. Then open back up the XBox app or Steam again and try again. After doing this a few times I got back in. Sitting in the queue for longer than 5 minutes doesn't seem to be worth it.
November 20, 20241 yr MS Store, using gamepass (while I wait and see). After 3 hours, it was finally running. However, setting up the controls has been a nightmare; I can't seem to make controls apply to all aircraft. If I change aircraft, I need to set everything again. After some trying, all I got was my control settings deleted 🤦♂️ Does anyone have any tips? The "apply to all aircraft" button doesn't work as expected. November 20, 20241 yr Yeah, control options is a pain. It would show the graph for sensitivity but moving the control didn't make the circle move like in 2020. I like that you can assign something to all aircraft or just the one you want.
November 20, 20241 yr Can anyone with Tobii who's got in confirm that you can turn eye tracking off and just have head tracking? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

After some trying, all I got was my control settings deleted The first time I started customizing controls, it had me type a name for a new control profile and gave me the checkbox options to apply to all aircraft and make default. Did you get the same? I checked both and have switched to other aircraft with (almost) no issue. I say almost because I just flew the SR22 and it changed my flaps from incremental to full up or down, but everything else seemed to work. I haven't messed around with how to do this without the option to create a profile coming up automatically, but I think it needs to be set to default and apply to all aircraft for it to automatically apply to everything.

I'm guessing it worked earlier because closing and opening back up put me in a different queue with a shorter time. So it may work again if they shorten queues again, but it's basically wait and see at this point.
November 20, 20241 yr I am in. Everything is very sluggish of course. Impossible to tell what it is really like without the server load reducing, and I don't know how my rubbish Internet will stand up in normal times. So far - autogen buildings aren't really any better in terms of placement and interpretation. Autogen airports look pretty much exactly the same standard as a whole so far. Ground markings and apron details are vastly improved. Model assets look way better, but the LODs are hyper aggressive The ground, once it's loaded, looks spectacular in some places and worse in others. Some grassy areas in particular don't look any better close up. Definitely a big old improvement so far, but I'll be fine with 2020 if I can't run this properly. It has enough of the same. Even without the strain, I can't see myself being able to zip around without having to wait for everything to load in as I have to do photogrammetry in 2020. That might get old.
