MSFS 2024 - Sim Update 1 Beta Release

Featured Replies

My bad asking about the weather, I'm in work (Openreach) monitoring my part of our UK fibre network - which means I also have to monitor power outages. The NI power grid looks horrendous right now - if you are online testing out the new SU then you are very lucky.

Anyway - can't wait to get home and try it.

  • Don’t normally bother with hassle of a beta but as the release version feels like a huge beta anyway I don’t suppose there’s much to lose.

Thanks for your input, I know what he did, I can read, lol. We exchanged some thoughts and are done as far as I'm concerned. You saw that right?

Ah okay - so it wasn't unnecessary nitpicking, but rather an 'exchange of thoughts'. Well, thank goodness for that. 🙄

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Despite the videos and screenshots of SU1 beta that have been posted, you can utter such a statement?

Yeah i guess i just don't like it no matter what they do to it.

Unless... It is downloadable, i can remove all aircraft and scenery i don't want, i can start right in the cockpit, i can have proper night lighting back without green radioactive bridges... Oh wait i'm describing MSFS which i already own and use :)

Sorry about the joke, it's just not for me as it stands.

You do not come here very often right? unnecessary nitpicking occasionally happens, luckily not to often, lol. Like we aren't nitpicking right now 😉 So how do you like the SU1 beta?

Cheers, Bert

What about VRAM issues? Do they still exist?

That's slated for SU2.  performance was about the same to me.  VRAM still high.  Honestly I don't know if anything will change.  Dx12 works different than 11 - developers have been told to fill up VRAM.  I don't understand why - I often exceed it in 2024 and it causes stutters.

You can see pretty sharp roads out to the horizon here (and I'm zooming in)

Ok!

I guess i'm convinced. Just flew over Central park, and instead of the tons of trapezoidal green boulders purporting to be trees, the whole park is now full of actual trees. Buildings and textures are crisp all over.....

So I was not hallucinating. Whatever they've done, I approve!

Central park still have all photogrammetry trees in Beta. But if you have my mod, that may be why you don't see them, which is from the last version updated recently.

The endless cycle of 'next gen' flight sim:

- Pay up regularly for new versions and add-ons

- Beta test, Beta test

- Check forums for any current servers or instability issues

- install tweaks to try and get a bit more FPS

- wait for the big hype for the next, next gen flight sim.

That’s the true reality….constantly spending money on add-ons, beta test and more beta tests, troubleshooting, tweaks, server issues, low FPS. A vicious cycle that never ends.

So in between all these different steps, are you guys at some point actually enjoying the sim?

Cheers, Bert

Only tried a short flight at night and the sepia mask is still right underneath you.  I know it wasn't mentioned in the Changelog but was hoping that the radius would be pushed out further to at least how it is in 2020.  I noticed the annoying lighting bug at sunset/sunrise is fixed where the internal lights would get very bright/bloomy...

Nonsense, it ends the minute you stop playing it. It’s entirely up to you. As you started a big thread about yourself, saying you were turning your back on 2020 and 2024 for good. Yet here you still, quite predictably, are.

Agree. VRAM is high, GPU temp is in the same regime. Smoothness and the eye candy are top notch though.

Does anyone have a problem with no rain at all. I select custom rain conditions and the I see the rain on the ground hitting the puddles, but the cockpit windshield there is no rain. My windshield effects are set to high. I had Inibuild a330 selected. I installed the new SU 1 beta too. The weather seems to be messed up in 2024. 2020 doesn’t have that problem.

Gotta say this is the sim experience I was waiting for. I'm not trying to convert anyone who doesnt' like 2024, please feel free to ignore this and do whatever makes you happy. Not looking to discuss ad nauseam, you do you, play whatever sim you like.

But for those of us who are in the Beta, the new textures are quite something else aren't they? And this is globally, I've tried all over the world and it's simply stunning. I was NOT expecting this from SU1.

No mod here, never ever used it. Trees look great - sure they are some big ones here and there, but overall that feeling of a green apocalypse is gone in most cities I've seen.
