Am I missing something? I see you guys swarming over DLSS4, but all I can see no considerable performance improvement over TAA, just that my numbers on the Fenix stopwatch become barely readable and lag one behind the other, same with speed band etc.

Either I am doing something very wrong, or are you just accepting that? I merely followed Ian's tutorial on the first page. I had all the options and set them the same.

The ghosting on the Fenix displays, especially the PFD is what turned me off. The flight director bars ghosting on turns, the speed tape, etc....

Still present...maybe better....Overall, better look....But I see "anomaly"... GPU use shoots to 98% all the time....but FPS are not improving. Not sure what I did really. So far so good but.....Just odd measurements. Or that's what I think it is.

I've been flight simming for 4 decades now.  My previous sim was P3D, but I now have all the parts I need to build a new computer, and then install MSFS 2024.  I had high hopes that when Microsoft partnered with Asobo, we would finally get a sim that would be ready to go right out of the box.  But now, before I build that computer, I find I'm bookmarking posts like this (22 pages so far!), YouTube videos, etc., on how to adjust settings, all these terms like DLSS4, frame generation,  FXAA, and a whole host of minutia that needs to be accounted for.  But here we are in 2025, and MSFS 2024 seems like a Tweak-a-palooza!

Stop. Just don't. I have been a huge tweaker the days back in P3D and FSX. Seriously, I have spent days and weeks and months on tweaking. It was something like 90% tweaking, 10% flying.

With MSFS2024 I stopped that. I found myself couple of posts that taught me about settings in MSFS2024, as in, which are CPU bound and which are GPU bound.

Then I decided I won't be greedy, and will just let some settings go down, even if the high setting looked "so cool". And still, the sim looks fabulous. Then, it wasn't much work to find some usual settings like which vsync setting or that I like TAA better than DLSS. It's just a switch. Quick pro tip: aim for 40-50fps at some bigger airport, including AI aircraft, if possible. And then just turn on framegen.

And all that I actually not call tweaking. It's merely reasonable setting adjustment. Just don't overthink it.

And then, just stop. Go flying. Don't read. OK... read a little. But fly. My MSFS2024 usage compared to FSX/P3D has turned to abount 5% tweaking and 95% flying. I think the number of flights I did with MSFS2024, is about the number of flights I did in last years when I stopped using P3Dv4. Skipped MSFS almost completely.

My tweaking currently revolves around "which button on the joystick will I assign which function in SPAD"? And that while flying...

I think some people will tweak because it's something that they find fun... optimizing the app is part of what keeps simming interesting.

Others will tweak because of FOMO; someone mentions an esoteric adjustment that was supposedly fantastic for them, and the FOMO tweaker will spend an entire week trying to get it to work on their system, even if they were already enjoying good performance and visuals beforehand.

But I agree with Simon_C; I installed MSFS 2024 on Friday night and I haven't had to do any performance tweaks. Just setting up preferences--like getting rid of the HUD on external views, binding controllers, that kind of thing. It looks great and works great out of the box.

edit: to use just click on the file and restart MSFS or other app the text will there or not.

WARNING: This didn't work on my system - until I updated my DLSS Swapper to the latest ;)

No more registry tweaks required!

Ah yes, the curse of neverending tweaking, It’s a syndrome, I’m sure of it. Oh well, we could always start a “tweakers anonymous” support group 😅

Used the swapper, and still getting stuck with 2020 and the "unsupported" override being locked out.  Reinstalled the driver and Nvidia app, so I'm at a loss now.  Guess I missed a step or am doing something wrong with my 4080 Super.

Get rid of the nvidia app, reinstall 572.16, use nvidia profile inspector version 2.4.0.8 to set the DLSS overrides as described here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/nvidia-game-ready-driver-572-16/702204/217?u=tenpatrol

Is it really possible that DLLS can beat TAA when it comes to visual quality as some are claiming here? I find that very hard to believe.

It's definitely a 'pc master race' condition! I should know. I play with both high end pcs and consoles. Before I start a session on pc it's a little tempting to see if there is something improved I need to install first and sometimes I've run out of time to actually play anything after. On console (playstations) it's press power button and press play and off I go.

I think I'll wait with all this until either nVidia or MS Asobo have their act together. All this word not allowed shouldn't be needed of course...

Very strange things happened to the quality of the image with DLSS-4.  Is it better than TAA? I sense DLSS-4 is better than TAA, at least based on what I see on my screen.  Perhaps others are having a different experience.

I think technology is saving flight simulation by inducing better performance and image quality.  When DLSS-4 first came out, I thought it was all BS, but it's been quiet impressive.

I'd be curious about what others have to say.
