February 8, 20251 yr Still waiting for Prosim and Wideview to be compatible with MSFS 2024. February 8, 20251 yr For me "ahead" is the only way, and the way is made walking, walking ahead... So, didn't take me much to decide I would buy it when it was announced, pushed the buy button the day it was released, took a while to install it due to the well known quirks at release date and a few days after, but FS 2020 was already far from my HDs, and I was only using Xp12 and Condorsoaring, so, it wasn't a question of moving on from FS 2020 to FS 2024 or even to keep both... For me it was the natural evolution in my "simmer life" 🙂 FS 2024 is presently my preferred - ever ! flight simulator, even with all of it's limitations [[including the fact that I find it's flight dynamics, from the base to the even more advanced products I have used with it and try to implement and circumvent the core limitations the best they can, but can't (yet) do miracles, do not stand to the level of X-Plane 12 for pretty much all aircraft types or Condorsoaring when it comes to gliders and soaring flight]]. I am using now DLSS + DLAA, with my RTX 3060Ti purchased in 2021, 8 GB GRAM, my Ryzen 5600 x, 32 GB RAM, Win 11, and the fact that I could increase the Graphics settings to a level even better than what I had before withou hammering my GPU / CPU, at least for now, overrides the artifacts I get in DLSS compared to TAA. With BATC or FSHUD + FSLTL (have to explore AIG because they say it's even smoother... ?), probably in a short while Say Intentions too because I have been following that project and it looks really cool and promising, with ASFS and RealTurb v2 doing their magic for the weather effects limitations imposed by default weather in FS 2024, with the default Inibuilds A330 and A321 and the FENIX 320 and really looking fwd into FSLABS porting it's 321, and waiting for RR to announce the port of the 737 and the 777, hopefully without charging his users / clients... I feel "In Heaven!!!" I haven't touched X-Plane 12 or Condorsoaring in more than one month 🙂 ... Nah! I haven't uninstalled either because both are very precious flight simulators when it comes to their own specificities and strong points. Join me OP ! Be HAPPY !!! Or do both versions of MSFS have to be bought from the same store in order to do so? Everything you buy on the marketplace is linked to your X-Box account so that shouldn't be a problem, but i'm not sure if you will get the aircrafts and airports included in the Premium version of 2020 if you buy the standard version of 2024, but I could be wrong. If only they would stop treating it like an Xbox port and let the industry's talented addon coders past the encryption. Both 2020 and 2024 have so much potential locked behind corporate exclusivity deals. They could easily make a standard version locked down for compatibility and a pro version unlocked for greatness. All I want basically is that gorgeous scenery plugged into one of the older sims. No reason why it can't be licensed like the way the Unreal engine is used in probably 100s of great games, new and old. Russell Gough SE London
February 8, 20251 yr Yup, as has been pointed out by MS themselves, 2024 has more players than 2020. Despite what steam charts show us, people seem to forget that you could only preorder 2024 for about a week from the Microsoft store before it was possible on the steam store, for obvious reasons and it looks like it worked. The other thing people have underestimated (myself included) is that the career mode is like crack. It is a bit of a buggy mess but it works well enough to capture the attention of all sorts of simmers. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

That's just a tiny part of the picture. Jorg said, that from the many millions of users in the last 3 months, 2/3 were using MSFS 2024 and 1/3 MSFS 2020. And that there are 1.3-1.4 million entirely new users on the sim. You can guess, that probably nobody of those started simming with MSFS 2020.
February 8, 20251 yr I bought 2024 pre-launch but decided to avoid installing until two days ago. Having recently reached Holy Grail level of image quality and performance in 2020 I decided it's time to have a look at 2024, at least get a good look at controller setup etc. It was a struggle initially but there are def pluses with the new interface, even controller setup. From there took a short flight in the Longitude and am looking forward to getting more acquainted. My sense is I will not be staying in 2024 until I am fully able to duplicate what I do now in 2020, that being Self Loading Cargo, APL and now BATC, sans BATC's traffic injector. How far out might that be? I guess a few months or so after SU1 and when my usual planes are ready to go. In the interim I look forward to GA flying which will be a reacquaintance for me as I def love what I currently do. It's easy to see 2024 will be a very nice upgrade as time goes on and clearly already is for many, and I've hardly seen any of its touted improvements.
