April 16, 20251 yr As a "fan" of 2024, there's nothing wrong with those numbers. I'm personally a GA only flyer, so most addons work fine in 2024, but many who fly airliners are still waiting on addons. It isn't surprising people are staying with 2020 for now. 2024 also has steeper PC specs. I know my old PC simply didn't run 2024 well. For anyone with a low to mid range PC, I'd say sticking to 2020 makes perfect sense. I did not start enjoying 2024 until I upgraded my rig. Many people SHOULD stay with 2020. If 2024 isn't where you need it to be, stop banging your head against the wall and go back to what works for you. MS did not pull the plug on 2020 for a reason. I don't get why people seem to want to throw dirt on 2024. If you are happy with 2020, be happy! 2024 will take over eventually. It is only a matter of time. People will upgrade their PCs over the years and addons will come out or be upgraded. 2020 will be around a long time for people, as it should be. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

The choice if I recall was an "either or". I think the question asked “what is your primary flight sim.” I own MSFS 2024, 2020, XP 11 and 12. From a financial standpoint Microsoft and Laminar have made the same amount of revenue from me (excluding addons). We can’t infer market share from this question either, as in my case I use both XPlane and MSFS, but can only select one as the primary. Even here we have users who prefer the MP. That is what j was getting at, and why the MP delay was the one that likely bugged him the most.

It's proof that it is possible to have a conversation where we don't agree with each other but also don't start calling each other names or being rude either 🙂 Agreed MP delay is probably one of the larger reasons for the survey results as well. Goes back to what I said that had they delivered on Day 1 I don't think we are having this conversation. Had my add-ons all been in MP, my community add-ons all been vetted for compatibility, devs had early access so they were ready to go day 1 and my controls simply migrated over I know I would have been a day 1 convert. As it was I became a day 1 pessimist, then an SU1 pessimist, right now an SU2 pessimist and I am willing to bet there are a lot of others who feel very much the same. I have doubts about 777 stability with the WASM issues around the 350. Hence my comment about it being theirs for the taking. If they hit this release out of the park I don't think we are having any of these conversations. Purely self inflicted damage. Those millions are pure marketing, it's people who have tried the game, visited their friend's house because theirs doesn't have PG coverage and have never played the game again.

The 777 needed better sounds so in my eyes was not complete. some could say that the Fenix needed many updates to be complete and a large part od the users still complain that the flare of the aircraft is still just average. On the contrary, the PMDG 777 was fairly complete and really reliable on day 1, something which is pretty rare those days. Both add-ons are really nice and I use them both with enjoyment.

And that information is from which survey? And according to that survey how many MSFS users are to be taken seriously of the millions who use it or have used it? 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

April 16, 20251 yr One thing I'm badly missing in this survey is lack of data about graphic resolution people use, 4k vs 1440, for example. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
April 16, 20251 yr Love the people in this thread trying their best with the mental gymnastics of downplaying the poor showing of MS2024. Keep trying cause it ain’t working. Eric

Guess this is the new standard over "Steam Numbers" alone which some always argued wasn't representative however it was very much showing the same trends. In "my opinion" these numbers are the most definitive indicator of the lack of Execution from Asobo... Had they succesfully delivered 2024 in the state people were expecting there is NO WAY 2020 holds on like this. It's purely 24 dropping the ball when it was theirs for the taking. Undeniable based on the numbers. 2:1 to 2020... Poor P3D 😞 XP also on the rise... https://navigraph.com/blog/survey-2024?utm_source=discord&utm_medium=community&utm_campaign=survey-2024 MSFS Remains King of the Hill The November launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 didn’t automatically sway the entire worldwide pool of simulator pilots. In fact, 52% of respondents reported still using the older Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 as their go-to simulator, making it the most popular choice above all competition. Its sequel, MSFS 2024, follows at 24.9%—reflecting a still impressive migration of users from the previous iteration. In comparison, the 2023 survey showed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 at 70.8%, highlighting the shift as users transition to the new version. We expect that number to continue to rise. No surprise at all.
