FS 2024 SU4 Beta 1.6.21.0 released...

It's also idiotic myths like "I realize that the ‘gamers’ are the users you most depend on, and without them, this huge project could fail." that seem to be touted by certain circles, when they encounter some bug/issue/change (in a beta build no less) that gets them all worked up. As always, there seem be some here who cosplay MSFS development and project management experts with deep insights into what actually happened, when in reality they have zero clue 😀

To be fair, adding a visible "SHIFT + C TO ENTER AIRCRAFT" bar at the bottom of the screen is definitely a gamer thing, and not a simulator thing

  • Man the beta testers today sure don’t like bugs in the, checks notes, beta that they willingly signed up for. Oh no. i mean seriously? Some of responses here for something so trivial is real

  • Far less disconcerting that this was a bug, than an intentional design choice for free flight mode.   Far far more confidence in them, than the wannabe experts on avsim who haven't a single c

Fair 🙂 But it could've been some assistance thing inadvertently exposed as a on-screen message, maybe some debugging thing that didn't get removed for the beta, etc etc. We'll have to see what they explain if anything on the why/how of this issue. But the point remains.. it's a nothingburger, and certainly doesn't therefore mean that MS/Asobo "depend on gamers the most, the project would fail without them". That's just silly hyperbole, and the kind that falls flat fast given all the investment they've poured into the sim for enhancing/adding to aspects that a casual gamer would care nothing about (i.e. deep default avionics, flight and ground dynamics improvements from 2020->2024, CFD airflow modelling, contracting WT/iniBuilds/etc for higher fidelity default birds, etc etc).

It's hardly a dealbreaker, especially since it disappears when you're moving. Pretty poor show for the so called "flight sim influencers" to jump on it and make a mountain out of a molehill but I guess that's the game nowadays (Hey I'm slightly inconvenienced! LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT IT!)

"Hi, my name's X and i'M a ReAl AiRlInE pIlOt - in todays video we'll learn how I wasn't given any sauce with my fries and how McDonalds' entire management team should consider using SayIntentions to ensure it never happens again."

And 2 days later that same Youtuber posts a video about how the flight sim community is too negative and how we should expect issues with betas. Give me strength.

The "funny" thing (for me, it is more of a sad story...) is: the thread about this Shift + C nonsense quickly got over 1000 votes, while the annoying snow coverage bug present since they introduced snow into MSFS2020 is still creeping around below 300 votes and open since several years. It baffles me how priorities are set amongst simmers nowadays, they are obviously more disturbed by a Shift + C message than generally bugged live weather snow coverage. Interesting...

Well that's pretty much what he said in the first video.

Each of us follows his own star. We will have to live more and more with a huge diversity of usage of MSFS. It's far the time when we were in a kind-of close group, focus on hardcore simming with Prepar3D, just to take an example. At least, this SHIFT+C is an example of a common topic that unites this patchwork. In the future, if we want to have some weight in debate with Microsoft/Asobo stakeholders, we'll need to find this exact same type of common roots.

100% agree. I wouldn't have put the link to the video 😉

It was likely just an unintended side effect of fixing the popup in other modes (visible in the release notes). Pretty sure it will be fixed soon.
The level of outrage and conspiracy theories is really over the top.

Even more hyperbole.  People simply complain about a new unneeded message on PC in a beta, and other people say 'enough with the hate'.
This is actually where part of the the problem lies - too much inflammatory language.
I don't like the Shift+C message and I hope it is removed, I for one never said I hated the sim, why should I?
And I haven't seen anybody else say they hate the sim either.

Like previous betas the early performance benefits have slowly dropped off, did a flight last night and it was more stuttery than I've had during this beta period and this has been reported elsewhere. General FPS was slightly down but still better than SU3s offering, so whilst it may not be fabulous it's still pretty good....just hope it doesn't drop off anymore.
