As a guy who spends every six months in Level D sims, the weather  in 2024 is miles better than how it looks in a real sim.  First off there is no live weather in a real sim, so it’s all presets.

Having read a number of pages on this post, I often get the impression some people on Avsim are more interested in complaining for the sake of complaining.  I just did 4 flights since SU5 came ou

Hello @sd_flyer,

I can confirm that the Tobii Eye Tracker 5 is working properly in SU5 (I tested my own earlier today after updating), but please be advised that MSFS 2024 is now using the latest SDK from Tobii. At least in my case, I had to go into my Tobii hardware configuration settings from the Controls menu in the sim and re-adjust the sensitivity values to get it to where I wanted it. You may or may not need to do the same. Thankfully it took me less than five minutes of experimentation to lock in new settings that feel great for me.

Thanks,

SeedyL, MSFS Community Manager

The changes with the Tobi EyeTracker settings messed up my settings from SU4. Thankfully, I took screenshots of my previous settings prior to updating. I was able to put my old values back under the new format of SU5.

There's practically zero weather updates in this SU5 aside the "Flight Model improvements for storm updrafts" which is essentially pointless when storms look so poor or don't appear at all, what we need is a proper weather update but Asobo seen very uninterested in anything to do with live weather.

Yeah, good thing aircraft don’t deal with weather as a primary and basic function of flight. Oh wait….

Honestly, it seems like ASOBO just refuses to get rid of the well known “halo” effect at night lighting. We’re still seeing lights as huge blobs from miles away, or even worse, cruising at high altitude an spotting airport below lit up like beacons…

How do we stop the EFB from showing every time we load an aircraft? This started after the SU5 update.

Hello @Wise87

YMMV, but at least in my case I had to modify the values I was previously using in SU4. In my experience, the new Tobii SDK is more sensitive than the previous version, so I had to reduce the sensitivity of the various pitch/roll/yaw/x/y/z axes in the Tobii hardware configuration menu compared to how I had them configured in SU4.

Thanks,

Ask AI for the answer. It gives you some things to try.

I just updated and I'm loading the sim for the 1st time after SU5.

Download and installation of Sim Update 5, no trouble for me, love the new separate menu screen for global rendering quality settings.

Would love to see Sim Update 6 or 7 to bring a clickable cockpit door to the 787 just like the 737 has in Sim Update 5 now plus the newest Korean Air livery for the 787 and for AI traffic.

This really isn’t when ai will shine. This release JUST happened and it won’t have much to work off of.

Is it normal that in free flight you're greeted with the efb's checklist being open/displayed?

Turns out they added an extra keybind entry to SHIFT+C (that was bound by default to "Take Control of Character" and "Toggle External/Cockpit View") called "Display Checklist" which pops open the EFB.

If you remove that new keybind entry, the EFB no longer appears when entering the aircraft via SHIFT+C after you start a Free Flight session 👍

I really don't understand asobo's total willingness to ignore all complaints about the weather.

I'm guessing they're limited due to the source data they receive from Meteoblue and the changes that some people want to see would require a new weather engine. Just a guess though.

Asobo, presumably at the instruction of MS, have a vision of how MSFS should be "played" and what features matter.

Yeah, I hear the "gamers" have been begging for the Avidyne IFD540 & 550 for a while now. I can't wait to see if I can play Pacman on them.

Very nice job on this one Asobo! Not the usual downgrades! I’m actually pleasantly surprised!

Haha, the snow coverage in the Alps is still totally nuts using live weather, complete and utter nonsense. Five years into this and they still dont get it right, impressive. Glad the rest of the sim is fabolous, but this is really a point of shame for them. Bummer.

It's a data set issue, not a sim issue.
