The great thing about Bijan is that he is constantly updating and responds directly to customer feedback. He really cares about his work. Unless this offers something different and I'm not sure it does, I see no reason to change.

Not my experience based on his own website.

I ended up getting a PayPal Refund following a period of pay your money and get nothing.

Not sure what you mean by paying using PayPal and get nothing. I purchased the same way and got email with links to download.

Just a quick flight, overall I noticed an improvement of the forest density and colour in the UK.

Flying over my own neighbourhood in the Peak District , which is a real world general aviation scenic hotspot , and former military low level hotspot (when we had an airforce ), Im noticing some extra coniferous trees which should be sessile oak covering up rock faces.

That issue only really affects me as I know the area and its trees intimately, on the whole the variations in height and density in forests alone seem to make the product worthwhile .

I’ve yet to check out the grasses etc but suspect they’ll be a pleasant improvement.

Overall it seems like another one of those pieces of flight simulation jewellery which I like adding , as their results are greater than the sum of their parts.

Is there any scenario where you could use both this and Bijan's Seasons Enhanced? Or would that result in problems?

Working together would be a gem but unfortunately there will be conflicts.
"Running them at the same time will cause file conflicts, overlapping trees, or broken seasonal textures"

I believe Bijan have the advantage though, but the price of BB will tune up the curiosity to try it out.

1. Burning Blue Design

Traditionally celebrated for creating incredibly detailed, immersive local airfields and regional scenery (primarily in the UK), Burning Blue Design has also entered the global scenery market with their Global Vegetation Enhancement package.

  • Pros:

    • Extreme attention to detail on 3D objects, textures, and local surroundings if you buy their airports.

    • Their vegetation pack is built cleanly using hundreds of native MSFS definitions (TreeSpecies, PlantTypes, etc.), ensuring excellent stability and compatibility.

    • Highly optimized to prevent severe performance stutters.

  • Cons:

    • Their primary catalog is localized; if you don't fly in their specific airport regions, you won't get the full benefit of their craftsmanship.

2. Bijan Seasons (Bijan Studio)

Bijan Habashi is a legendary independent developer in the MSFS community, best known for his global environment modifications like the 4 Season Pack and Seasons Enhanced.

  • Pros:

    • Massive Scope: He modifies the entire planet, adding everything from Scottish heather to California palm trees.

    • Photogrammetry Cleanup: His mods actively strip away the ugly, melted "puffy" photogrammetry textures from default trees and small houses.

    • Performance Boost: By thinning out unrealistic, overly dense default forests, many users report a gain in FPS.

  • Cons:

    • Lacks a streamlined user interface (UI), meaning installing specific hemisphere texture packs can sometimes feel a bit clunky compared to automated injection tools.

Here are three screenshots at two different locations. The locations are KEYW facing West off of the end of runway 27 and VTSP facing in the general direction of runway 09, but moved off of the airport itself.

Each of the locations has:

  1. PG Only

  2. Bijan

  3. Burning Blue Designs

Biome Gallery

In my opinion, while I really like Bijan's work, I find that it tends to leave the default trees and overall overabundance of trees too prevalent in the sim when you're outside of the areas that have been modified directly. As such, I find that the BBD work leaves everything less dense (maybe too much so in certain jungle areas), but --- to me --- it makes the sim look better because it doesn't look so overgrown.

What I will try to do is use BBD for most things and then Bijan for those areas that I know have been modified to see which I prefer for those areas. For the more default areas, I definitely prefer the BBD option. What I found in testing this is that you can have both loaded and enable/disable as appropriate in the My Library configuration options, but once you enable one, you can't go back to the PG only (not that I ever do other than for this test) unless you exit the sim because it will reload the assets from the last-enabled biome edits, at least if you reload to the same airport.

To be honest, I am happy with the default trees in MSFS 2024. They are far better than the trees in MSFS 2020, and I like the overall density.

Yeah, it’s a shame how IRL doesn’t match the sim well enough !! 🤣🤙

It really doesn't. In my sim, the world is free of heavy traffic, pollution, political nonsense, economic despair, and everything else. Well except for the slum add-on at VABB...🫠

Has anyone tested the Sep/Oct/Nov situation in the European alps (e.g. LSZS Samedan) regarding yellow-golden colours of larches?

These golden larches are absolutely dominant during Fall season and I am missing them with default biomes and Bijan season.

I think it's great that Burning Blue have released this. While Bijan's mod has lots of benfits, he modifies the biomes, which causes issues with any 3rd party scenery that uses default biomes, like the vbazillio airports (e.g. KMYF), causing huge trees to appear sunk into the ground, instead of the default ground scrub. And the invisible bounding box of the tree, if it's sunk next to a taxiway, can knock you off the taxiway.
It's a shame Bijan doesn't offer a 'seasons' mod without the edits to the biomes but that includes all of his other fixes like removal of PG trees.

He seems responsive, I'm sure if you take the trouble of discussing this with him, he'll might develop a solution. That's perhaps more productive than P.A. statements here on avsim.
