December 9, 201312 yr Yes but it's not $30 though is it? ... that's the upgrade price; if you don't already own AS2013 then it's $50, which is considerably more than $30! . just saying. I just tried it and it is fantastic, but I think the AS users are seeing a bigger fundamental 'step up' here. As an Opus user, ASN is very close to it. ASN is probably a little better at this stage, but Opus is updated and developed aggresively and regularly. The low altitude low visibility pics on the thread are no different to those we see in Opus, truly. It is a little more glamourous than Opus at this point, but IMHO as someone who doesn't own AS Previous, it is definitely not worth $50 for me to move from Opus to this. Have to agree with this, I thought it was $30 but considering its $50 then OPUS has better features and they are always working on upgrading with betas not to mention they have BUTTkicker plug in as well ZORAN
December 9, 201312 yr Regarding cirrus, that is also using new calculations, but looking at that screenshot, there of course is room for improvement so we're already discussing this and figuring out what we can do here to make it better. Although I must ask, since it was not shown, was there cirrus overhead? No, there was just those clouds "behind" the aircraft... later it appeared some cirrus, but the cumulus clouds (I think that's their name) were still there.
December 9, 201312 yr Commercial Member One of the reasons I love OpusFSX is because the live camera, that is tight with the weather and trackir. Does anyone try to have the weather of ASN and the cameras of OpusFSX, so any turbulence felt in ASN was correctly done by the OpusFSX cameras? Yes, I use them like that. No problem. just configure OpusFSX to not activate its Live Weather features. Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. December 9, 201312 yr Was coming into KMDW last night in the iFly 737. Chop in the clouds...snow squalls....wow. I LIKE. They actually DID it. How the heck?? R Goodson
December 9, 201312 yr $50/$30 and no textures.. Gotta pass on that.. Did the same for Opus FSGW is about the same league in term of price. The textures in AS2012 are not that great anyway. I use REX textures and FSGW right now. I will give this a try just to see. Vu Pham i7-13700K 5.2 GHz OC, 64 GB RAM, RTX5090, SSD for Sim, SSD for system. MSFS2020, XP-12, DCS

OPUS does a great job but I hate sudden wind shifts and hate even more weather updates when ever thing changers. ASN handles these to perfection and that is with 15min updates, but you never see then. That make OPUS redundant from today. I will use it for P3D until ASN works with it. Is it worth £50 for a weather engine?, yes when it's the best and unlike almost every other addon you will use it with ever fight you make. David Murden. December 9, 201312 yr This is what I meant... I think the could injection should be a little bit more refined, but other than that great stuff! Too bad most of the shots were removed, other than that how does it compare to FSGRW? Thanks Vu Pham i7-13700K 5.2 GHz OC, 64 GB RAM, RTX5090, SSD for Sim, SSD for system. MSFS2020, XP-12, DCS

REX textures and ASE for me right now. ASN demo tonight. Let's see what tomorrow brings ... B) And still, I agree with Dave: No matter, whether Opus or AS is your current weather engine - moving to the other developer isn't really an option as both products are high quality but not exactly inexpensive. December 9, 201312 yr Has anyone tried to install the weather gauges? I have tried to do so in my PMDG 737 but when I press shift 5 all that appears is a blank black box on my flight deck screen. Do I have to be at a certain height for this gauge to work. Feedback would be useful. Michael Michael Broom

Fair point - I'll admit to only having skimmed through the replies in here and hadn't checked the stores properly. Has anyone used this with the Majestic Q400? Rekindled my love for this aircraft over the weekend... Karl Brooker
December 9, 201312 yr Too bad most of the shots were removed, other than that how does it compare to FSGRW? Thanks I guess that they're both on the same level... Each one with their pluses and minus, ihmo. If I have to point one aspect which ASN is clear ahead is in the weather update. You don't see any flicker at all when the weather is updated.. About the clouds depiction. I did a flight with ASN and the clouds didn't seem to match the clouds that are really outside in the real world, but doing the same flight with the FSGRW, the clouds type is more accurate, but the quantity of clouds are not! FSGRW is injecting more clouds that actually there is outside! But hey! If it's real world we want, lets go buy a plane and fly outside!
December 9, 201312 yr In 20 yrs of simming and using Active Sky weather engines since dirt was invented ,I have not seen turbulence depicted so well. Tighten your seat belts. Thanks Guys.
December 9, 201312 yr What I want to check is how does the aircrafts behave when flying with 100+ knots of lateral wind. yesterday, I had 150knts lateral wind with FSGRW and the PMDG 747 was having some trouble keeping the route without rolling a bit from side to side... I have to check it with ASN and compare!
December 9, 201312 yr You can enable Overcast enhancement in ASN options, which will thicken things up at the cost of reduced performance. Most have reported great results with overcast (even at default non-enhanced). Perhaps the specific conditions were a factor here. I did in fact have have that option checked. Weird, maybe the conditions under me weren't actually overcast. I'll do some more "testing" I suppose.
December 9, 201312 yr What does ICAO ID CURR mean? Stands for current aircraft position? Because instead of displaying airport ICAO code ASN always reports CURR at different airports. Intel i9 12900K, Asus ROG Strix Gaming Z690-A Wifi D4, GSkill 32gb, RTX 4090 Regards Chris Kathi
