I haven't bought it yet (can't afford it right now). But just wondering; dit FSL make any statement about making the A320 compatible with the presumed 64bit version 4 of P3D?

I know PMDG has made statements planning to do that, most likely free of charge or only at a limited fee.

Knowing it will be updated for a 64bit platform would most certainly add to the "business case" of purchasing this addon.

Hi Frank,

No, not yet - and I think it would be unfair to do so until we've had a chance to evaluate a new platform for ourselves.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback - it means a lot to us to read how much you're all enjoying the A320.

Yes it's FSL not AS

Its nothing like the AS version.

Even the two Engine types make them feel like your getting two different aircraft.

I did 4-5 flights in the BA with IAE engines then did a flight with ezy jet with CFM and thought OMG!

IAE = feel more faster, noise 'er

CFM= much more calmer and less in your face.

320 IAE feels, sounds like a sports car. CFM feels, sounds like your in a limo.

I like the IAE

I agree with this, the IAEs are a real handful!

Trying to configure the Aerosoft Airbus (when I had the urge a few months ago) on my controllers using FSUIPC was a really difficult exercise.  Has anyone had any trouble configuring the FSLabs setup?

Nope, I have had no issues. I used the old AS config I had in FUSIPC as a base and updated it to have the correct Null Zones per the manual, played with the brake and rudder curves, and added the NWS button to the trigger on my stick. I am using the TM Warthog stick, GoFlight THQ6, and CH Pro pedals (hopefully upgrading to the MFG's soon). I have all my aircraft setup in FSUIPC and this one was not difficult to configure.

I agree! My first few test flights were in the Delta CFM to learn the bird, now I am doing West Coast United IAE ops and boy does it make a difference!

I was waiting years for someone to pull off a realistic A320 for FS, right from the moment FSL announced it (and even before that), so whether you buy it for FS or P3D, personally I think six years of work to pull off what lots of people in the know thought was damn near impossible deserves a decent paycheck.

Chock is back!

Thanks,

I would answer this question by having any simmer thinking of buying answer the question "what do I like to fly in the sim". Don't just ask casually but seriously think about how you fly. I know for example that I fly 80% heavies (of which 80% is modern, 20% steam gauges) and 25% light GA (A2A 172, Comanche). Anything else over the years that I have purchased has ended up in the hanger never to be flown again. So when the A2A Connie came out I really wanted it, knew it would be amazing but also knew that I would be wasting $60. If you really do like serious, study level sims, you like to fly by the numbers and follow all of the checklists, charts, procedures, etc. then yes you will love the FSL Airbus. If you are more of a casual simmer that does not delve into all of the details and just loads a quick FP and flies then I think this is a waste for you and the Aerosoft will do the job....perhaps even better.

It took me years to figure out that I only like certain things in Flight Sim and that buying one very expensive addon that I love and will fly for many hours and many years is greater value for me personally than buying every release for $20, $30 or $40 only to never fly it (or use it in the case of scenery). This is a very difficult thing for many of us to come to grips with because we always feel like we are missing out on something.

Just my 2 cents.

Is there any way this post can be stickied on the front page of AVSIM? No truer words have been written in a long time. It's the reason I won't be buying the FSLabs bus....at least for now. I know my free time will not allow me to get my bang for the buck on this one, given my already next planned purchase. However, I'm happy for the die-hard Airbus crowd and $140 is a bargain, considering you get both engine variants of the A320.

Todd Harrell

You have to have the Bus powered up withing the sim to export to the the bus, not sure this is 100% right but it can read a PDF!!! but i dont know how to just save a file to then inport. I wish I did.

The odd thing? is every flight I have dont with only a PFPX flight plan exported into P2D, After i enter e.g. EGLL/EHAM my flight plan comes up and I just press insert!

Also if you fly on Vatsim you can Export your PFPX flightplan to the Vatsim website and Pre-File.  Then in the FMGS you type in the route and flight number and press a button to retrieve your flight plan from Vatsim.

Does anybody fly this one with TrackIR? Is it flyable? I ask because I find it very difficult to fly with TIR if frames are below 30 - it gets very laggy and choppy.

I use TrackIR with the FSL A320 - no issues.   I have 'sensible' settings in the sim, and get 30-40FPS on the ground (in 'sensible' addon airports), and 50+ in the air.  Smooth as butter.

PMDG will not ban you so you cannot download liveries and other files from their site. FSL will. PMDG provide support through their support portal faster than FSL feel like emailing you back.

The FSL Airbus is well made, but had dozens of bugs on release for FSX, and they were hostile to people providing bug reports and suggestions. The performance was awful in FSX and still unflyable if you want any decent graphics settings. Their email support was slow and hostile too.FSL Airbus in P3D is more polished but in my opinion the Airbus airplane is so automatic with everything it is not fun after a while to fly. The most work I do in the cockpit is entering the approach page in the FMGS. I could be biased liking Boeing aircraft more, but I get years of enjoyment from the PMDG 737 series, while FSL for 140 dollars is a single A320 model. I'll save up for the PMDG 747 that has too many models to list.

Name one product ever released for FS thats been bug free? Even PMDG products come with bugs that take several updates to clear up. I reported a bug and figured out the solution and when I sent FSL a report they responded with a very thankful message! I also had another issue and they responded to that within hours. They are fantastic!

Micheal - for sure there's an Airline2Sim Program coming for the A320. It's a hugely complex aircraft (more so than the 777 in many ways) so if anything it'll be a longer and more in depth Program as for one the FBW system on the 777 is not terribly invasive. For the most part it just lets you get on with things and leaves you alone but the Airbus FBW system is a different story. I can't give timescales yet on release as it's down to pilot availability etc but we're working on it as we speak.

i hope you guys also develop a 717 series!

Folks,

I have two questions.

1. Does current PFPX suport export into the Bus's FMC

2. Any PFPX performance profiles exist?

Thanks

Well there are actually two different methods to import flight plan data.

1st: Enter departure and destination into the MCDU and hit INIT REQUEST. It will then go through a prioritized list of typical flightplan providers (VATSIM, IVAO, Simbrief, P3D, PFPX...) until it finds a flightplan that matches your DEP/DEST. However, this will only import the waypoints and airways

2nd: (works only with PFPX) Create your flightplan and release the flight. Next step depends on your OS and if PFPX is running on sim pc or 2nd pc....

Win10 and local PFPX install: Hit PRINT OFP and chose the dedicated MCDU import printer that will be installed with FSL A320

or

Win7 or PFPX on 2nd PC: Hit SAVE OFP and save the text file into a specific uplink folder in your sim folder

This method will import your entire OFP into the MCDU, which means

Flightplan

Alternate Destination flightplan

Flightnumber

Waypoint wind data

ZFW

Fuel data

Its a really impressive feature, but currently a bit dodgy. For me it often crashes the AOCService.exe which is required to import the OFP. However, once i restart the service manually it works like a charm.

Only downside is that this will take away even more work from you during pre-flight phase. So it might get a little bit boring as there inst much to setup anyways compared to a Boeing plane ;)

Funny you mention that...after testing this wonderful aircraft over many builds in both FSX and P3D, I now prefer to manually enter the flightplan. And it's easy to do, given the option of entering airways, etc.

yeah, especially when using realistic turnaround times of about 30 minutes. You will end up with 25 minutes of sweet idleness, unless you use this time to recheck flightplan data and weather

And now compare this to a B738 with Ryanair SOPs :D
