You can buy imaging services from lots of places. I don't know if that makes sense financially but if you no longer have to model everything and can rely on the data then maybe it would? Buying high resolution imagery is costing Orbx a fortune. So much so that TrueEarth GB hadn't made them a profit according to JV a few months ago. It's also what is stopping them from producing TE areas in Canada and France. I will still need to fly my aircraft that will not be in MSFS, I have in fact just purchased two more in the ORBX sale. and when what I'm waiting for in the road map arrives I will purchase more. and some other addons I am waiting for I am still flying. Yes, you. And surely there will be quite a few people like you. But there will also be quite a few people like me who have already started cutting down on flight sim investments because it's becoming clearer and clearer that FS2020 will be the future. Off course there's recognizable places like London, Paris, San Francisco, New York etc, but can any of you set a place and time stamp on other places, please? We Australians can see Sydney @ 2.00 and Brisbane @ 3.04 as pointed out previously in this thread by others.

It's not really a needed feature for fixed wing (even a grass strip is going to be cut short enough to not see grass affected by the wind). For VFR vegetation that moves with the wind is a big factor. Low pass above an untowered runway to help detect wind direction and speed

Netflix recommends at least 25Mbps and Amazon recommends at least 15Mbps for 4k streaming. For gaming at 4k/60Hz with HDR on Stadia, Google's recommends a minimum of 35Mbps (and that's streaming the entire game continuously over the connection). As MSFS will be running on your PC and just streaming data (scenery) as required, you'll probably get away with a lower bandwidth. The amount of data is likely to be a bigger problem if your ISP imposes a data cap. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3

If they do not use the satellite imagery, then it would take somebody years to place all the trees. Also 1000's of buildings very clearly follow the footprint of the floorplan shown on the satellite image, again clearly evidence which suggests Orbx have the capability with reasonable source imagery to create autogen from satellite images. This may not be as as advanced as Azure AI but it's there and it has enabled Orbx to create the True Earth landscapes. They have the data that they acquired somewhere and their software converts to a format that the sim can read. From the announcement of the True Earth Netherlands Jarrad Marshall pointed that as a featured: Quote Incredibly dense autogen vegetation. Far superior to automated OSM technology, our agn is compiled from multiple data sets, and hand-edited to ensure maximum fidelity, accuracy and density. Data + hand-edition. I never heard they had some kind of A.I. to proccess imagery. That would be new to me. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

Low pass above an untowered runway to help detect wind direction and speed I’m a commercial pilot and I’m very skeptical that’s enough of a thing to be a priority. Maybe for bush pilots, but I’ve never seen someone dive to the deck to try to perceive tree movement at an untowered field. But we weren’t talking about trees anyway. We are talking about grass moving. That’s a much different thing and challenge. Edited October 11, 20196 yr by bonchie
