April 1, 20206 yr All, I'm sad to announce @Jim Young passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Jim has been an AVSIM member, volunteer, and board member for nearly two decades. He lived a life of service to the United States of America as an intelligence officer. He was dedicated to help others enjoy flight simulation as much as he did and authored and revised two prominent AVSIM publications: The Crash to Desktop Guide and the Basic FSX Configuration Guide. These guides have helped tens of thousands of people to date and will continue to help our readers. Thus, Jim's legacy will live on through our memories, his posts, and his publications. I got the chance to meet Jim on a few occasions and know he loved his Corvette and to golf. Jim also loved this community and was a good friend of Tom Allensworth. I can only imagine Tom was there to welcome Jim through the pearly gates, especially for his role in ensuring AVSIM's future after Tom's sudden passing in 2015. Jim will be missed. No more pain, my friend... rest easy. April 1, 20206 yr Sorry to hear this sad news. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirthof sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred thingsYou have not dreamed of – wheeled and soared and swungHigh in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flungMy eager craft through footless halls of air....Up, up the long, delirious, burning blueI’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.Where never lark, or even eagle flew —And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trodThe high untrespassed sanctity of space,– Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
