iFly 737NG P3Dv5 development screenshots

Recommended Posts

Looks like iFly is close to releasing a new version of their 737NG aircraft for P3D v5.
Check out the gallery. Looking sharp. I wish it was a B737MAX.

Wow very impressive cockpit, high res and all PBR with very realistic night lighting.

Should be a nice upgrade.

Cheers Rob

Who is this for? If you're on P3D for the airliners, you probably already have the NGXu. If you're more casual, you've probably moved onto MSFS anyway.

I'm sorry, but what is this NGXu of which you speak? :-) I take your point, but always assume businesses know their business. I can think of reasons a developer might commit to P3D and am always happy to see that. I always liked iFly and wish them luck. I think the reality is people are willing to spend money on the latest glass airliners, so what else are they going to do? Even I might bite on this one, and will certainly do so if I get a discount for my previous iFly 737. (Although when I find glass in cockpits I tend to become confused and peck at my reflection.) Just Flight is doing in-house development on a number of classics and it will be interesting to see if there's still a niche. (Assuming they actually get them to market and assuming severing ties with Aeroplane Heaven results in better products.) The iFly pictures look fantastic.

Another indirect diversion into MSFS which is apparently the ONLY place 3rd party developers should develop for?

To answer your question that really isn't:

1.  For existing iFly Customers

2.  For customers that stay open minded about their platform choices and know that P3D is still continues development (as are other platforms)

3.  For customers who's flight experience extends beyond what other platforms offer and into depth of systems

4.  For customers who's flight experience isn't about how much it costs (is it free)

5.  For customers who want to leverage their already extensive list of airports and add-ons for P3D that aren't available in MSFS

6.  For customers who don't close doors when they open another one and like to stay diverse

Since PMDG are focusing much of their resources on an "as yet to be delivered" 737 for MSFS, it would seem like a perfect opportunity for a 737 competitor to sweep in and leverage that distraction to possibly add some more P3D customers.

Cheers, Rob.

I have been an iFly fan since FS2004. I have their FS2004 737 and the 747-400 and upgraded to P3D43 and 4.

iFly has always been a very viable alternative to PMDG.

Whilst I have upgraded to P3Dv5.2, it is my lowest priority in sims. I will however, invest in this beauty when it arrives.  Cannot wait actually.

I already have the NGXu but I’m a sucker for a pretty 737, so I’ll pick this one for sure if there is a discount for owners of the previous version.

My iFly737 gets a thrashing in P3D4.5. My go to aircraft. It handles superbly, The AP and nav work brilliantly and unlike the opposition it flies RF leg types, so you can shoot any type of approach.
Heaps of variants including BBJs. With an EFB and improved textures this will be stunning.
Once I upgrade my system this will be the first add on installed.

I also got both PMDG and iFly for v4.5, iFly 737-700 mainly for high land opeartion with RNP-AR requirement. (I also got it's 700ER and BBJ3, but deleted others as that's PMDG's territory.)

While not perfect, iFly 737 handles LNAV flight with RF legs or non-RF tight turns much better than any other add-ons I have, while FSL buses do support RF legs, it can't nail on it in some conditions, as for PMDG, not even it doesn't support RF legs (and seems would not for the first "LNAV update" comming soooooon), but even some tight turns with non-RF procedure, it'll introduce some 0.5 mile FTE, makes it not sutable for RNP0.3 opeartion.

Alex, you should read about the former socialist economy: when something new was developed, a stately committee would ask "Who is this for?". They did very well with this approach.

I am a Beta tester and can say that VR in this thing is stunning.  The VC has a 'clear' and brighter feeling and is one of the best VC's I have used in VR to date.  The gauges and displays are very clear in VR which helps a lot. They have really put alot of work in the details.  PBR both in and out actually looks good. 👍 It has scimitar winglets as well which is a nice change.  The 737 is my favourite aircraft, so having both the NGXu and the IFLY unit is justified in my mind as they feel so different in  the simulator.  The FMC in this is lovely; feels like real metal.  Opening the cockpit windows is awesome if you are a Boeing fan.

I hope now that they have updated the models and the textures considerably this will make it easier for the development team to do the Max as a lot of the VC textures and exterior textures will be shared across the NG and the Max.   The VC textures maybe quite close they require minor modifications.  Now that the time has been spent working through P3D v5's PBR 'issues' to get something with current technologies in the model and textures, they maybe able to shed some development time doing a Max if they still plan too.   That would be wise from a money perspective as that is where more sales will likely be.

PS-firing up P3D and using my Orbx EU England again with PBR traffic has been a very good experience; the simulator is still wonderful with the right ground textures, traffic, and detailed aircraft.

I'll come back to P3D for this...  Not that I ever left but I'll be back more frequently that's for sure.  This was one of my favorite birds in FS9.  Can't wait to see it revived and hope it has all the external hardware support (controllers, screens) that the original did!.

iFly really puts out a phenomenal product.  Is it still the same small core dev team?  If I remember it was a small team from Asia but I could be way off base.
