October 24, 20214 yr ....that (in my opinion, other's mileage may vary...) MSFS was truly a year too early, to really be released as a pretty much now, non-Alpha/Beta incarnation. Had MSFS been RTM'ed in its present incarnation (SU6) , features, deployment, PERFORMANCE on pretty much anybody's current system, it would have been a virtual Flight Simulation 'Tsunami'.... Yes, we had great visuals at launch, the first RTM version, before ANY update, but that came at a very high system resource cost for many, including myself. There was no way I could approach Ultra Settings at that time. I had to run Medium to get something near 25-30 FPS. Today? The word 'performance' doesn't even cross my mind. It's there...every flight...at Ultra (Plus) with SU6. I believe that MSFS was released perhaps one year too early, and that it should have been in serious multi-Beta versions (as we pretty much all went through, with frustration to boot!) before actual launch. ...as I came off a spectacular flight today...just ended minutes ago...the above thoughts crossed my mind. Today, right now...MSFS is one SO VERY satisfying flight simulator, and yes, still with bugs, still needing to be swatted, but not enough of them, or large enough any longer, that you can't see past them out the 'windshield' of SU6.... SU6 is in my opinion, the true RTM of MSFS. Truly...
October 24, 20214 yr Perhaps your right, but I'll be honest, I'm very glad I was able to get access to it last year. Cheers! October 24, 20214 yr I was just thinking today, MSFS finally seems to be out of BETA! I am not sure if I like the industries 'new' standard on releasing titles far to early or if I hate it.... In any case we have something very special and in a years time maybe the remain bugs will have disappeared.... October 24, 20214 yr Well, as has been shown in a previous poll, the majority of users are happy it was released when it was, warts and all. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
October 24, 20214 yr I agree100%, but I am happy to have had access to it when it was released. I only wish it was officially released as 'early access'. I would not have been so angry and frustrated with all the problems I endured. The other side of the coin though; if the vast number of us didn't have access and a voice, I cant help but wonder, how good the sim would be if it was just being released now.... Robin
October 24, 20214 yr I agree that SU6 has been by far without hesitation, the best update ever for the PC! October 24, 20214 yr Agreed, but as other have said, also glad to have access to the sim when we did. Just remember the timing of when the sim came out too...this was one of the few things that allowed us to escape right in the thick of things. Those long bush flights did a world of good at the time...

October 24, 20214 yr I have loved every minute since August 2020 with this Sim , I have only had 2 CTD's in this time period and they were last year .
October 24, 20214 yr "Release early" can be a relative term to someone who just bought it a week ago. MSFS was just released last week --to him. 🙂 Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space. Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).
October 24, 20214 yr Not sure if I had wanted to wait for this another year, but yeah - if it was marked as 'early release' maybe the frustration across parts of the community would have been less. We're truly blessed though with the level of engagement and content provided by MS/Asobo, it's markedly different to any other releases of FS. The amount of pay- and freeware available is truly mind boggling; when it was first released I thought it would take at least a couple of years to get to this level and see where we are now! Only recently I tried my hands on VR and got a G2 - long time simmer here, biggest smile ever! October 25, 20214 yr I've enjoyed every minute of it since release. It's been great to see the rapid progress, expansion of so much excellent default scenery and airports is just phenomenal. Even the default planes are decent. I look forward to DX-12 and the major weather update to come, we're told, and GSX and PMDG coming hopefully not too far out. Always something to look forward to. I really want FSCaptain but I think they still don't have access to the LVARS they need to do it justice. I've been happy with the sim - "warts and all" - pretty much since day one. Every AAA gaming title has teething problems. As I wrote in a post last year, I installed MSFS 2020 on my rickety PC, fired it up.....and uninstalled P3D, including hundreds of very expensive addons, within 10 minutes.
