I feel bad for Rob and PMDG tbh. He couldn't have been more transparent and open about the process but people are already breaking out the conspiracy theories.

Conspiracy theories????

Are you unable to understand the concept of skepticism?

I personally cant understand this attitude of “PMDG can do no wrong and they are gods among men!”

In the end the only thing that cuts through all the hype are reviews from folks who bought this product with their own money and didn't get a pre-release copy. Honest Abe reviews cut through all the clutter and noise of the pre-release hype circus.

Ill be writing one up when i get my hands on one.

My resume??? A current and typed pilot on the 737 at a major airline.

I sometimes wonder if PMDG is actually more unpopular than Aerosoft...

I look forward to your impressions.  There are a few type rated pilots on the beta team, but they are obviously coming from a different perspective.

At least the freeware FBW A320neo flies. Having second thoughts about spending a lot of money on something that falls out of the sky. Disappointing.

It didn't fall out of the sky though - It landed and there was an issue that caused the plane to have a moment. Anyway - PMDG are aware and have said the following:

Quote

Wojtek- Hey- thanks for saying that. One of our betas had it happen repeatedly and it was eventually traced to the platform sneakily re-introducing default control assignments into his customized control setup- or so he believes as of this writing. We have never been able to make it happen in-house in spite of trying and in the other 65 days of testing nobody has seen this happen. If you happen to recall where it happened to you, that would be useful information. We are collecting data on it, because we want to prove it IS our airplane just as much as we want to prove that it ISN'T. One of those answers has to be proven. - RSR

blowing things out of proportion aren't we ? Fabio landed fine this morning and Chewwy94 did a total of 6 flights without any incident.

There's nothing wrong with staying with the A32NX. Just please spare those devs with your hyperbole criticism.

Am I one of the few who is actually concerned more about how realistic the plane will handle within this new simulator than all the other eye candy stuff? (Don’t get me wrong, I’m am super excited for a next level PMDG product!) I also don’t have a problem with how PMDG plans to release their 737. Although I don’t like the order it is in. But I’m totally fine with getting a fundamentally complete product with visual updates along the way as I enjoy it.

Everything's in here is being blown out of proportions... The tone is really extreme and hateful. It's like two radical groups fighting each other. I understand people can be skeptical. But going from skepticism or uncertaincy to downright exaggeration and extreme assumptions, with personal views being presented as facts is just insane.

It's sad, that we've gotten here... but I guess it's quite normal in these social-media-easy-to-be-offended-times... 😕

Why do you feel the need to say this?

It's built into our DNA Anders.  I don't fault or question why folks do what they do.  Does it irk me sometimes, especially knowing what I know going on behind the scenes?  Of course. But I also respect their opinion as theirs and that they have the same right all of us do to post it, as long as its not directly derogatory to someone.

We bat around the term "study level" so much, it's become its own meme of sorts, and we tend to use it both jokingly and seriously depending on the subject.

All I know is what I feel each software simulation does for my "immersion factor" and pretty much ignore others opinions of what they get out of it.

You should have seen the physical reaction I had (serious goose bumps) when the PMDG sound designer nailed the low frequency hum of the start sequence and I heard it the 1st time in my Bose headsets....it was almost a religious experience, hehe.  I was ready to buy the package right then, but then I remembered I was on the beta team, and was supposed to not be geeked out that it sounded so real, LOL (well...only as real as a pax that has sat in the exit row for hundreds of flights).  So I just told him he nailed it, and actual 737 pilots on the team confirmed it.

"Study level"?  To me that is a subjective statement of little value coming from others.  If a package is as good as it's being hyped, I'll wait to determine for myself if it has enough "immersion" to keep me flying it. 😉 Some won't call it study level until it has full failures, others, not until it has a slick interface to manage flightplans, others still want to make sure that some system they'll never see or encounter in the normal lifespan of a pilot is modeled to full fidelity, etc.

I just want something that suspends the reality that I'm sitting in front of a computer pretending to fly...once my brain takes over and the desk in front of me becomes a cockpit, I'm good. 🙂

And when all else fails....post a screenshot of the plane....LOL.

I'm still working on this bare metal beauty....may not be done by release...there is a lot to do to tweak bare metal just right. (I know...still too shiny)

to have a moment

To put things mildly 😆 A very unfortunate moment ... it was.

The Ketchikan scenery being used in the video is not default, nor is it the freeware version available at flightsim.to that specifically addresses the terrain issues at this airport.

PAKT improvements to Ketchikan International Airport » Microsoft Flight Simulator

Does anyone know what scenery he was using?

The default scenery shows a lot of funny business with graphics and terrain.

This photo is just from taxiing by the control tower and shows the graphics anomalies that were seen in the video.
