I think if we take to consideration on how MSFS evolved since first release, MSFS 2024 shouldn't cast any worries because it will evolve as well!

This version will define my movement totally to MSFS with a brand new PC (AMD? guys?) with at least a 4090 and 4K TV. 2 x 4TB M2 harddrives and 64 gb DDR ram.

Whats  the best for backup with these mega drives btw?

P3DV5.4 will be absolut.

While your expectations are certainly valid, a statement like this makes it seem like you're only selectively listening to what you you perceive as negatives from their releases.

My only use of MSFS is as a scenery generator for PSX... so when it comes to FS2024, I'll be waiting until someone builds a connector to PSX. I'll enjoy reading the reviews and comments until then.

I'm all in on day one. What I am bracing for is that the 19th of November may not be that day though...after what we've seen so far in terms of sim and world update delays, and after some of Jörg's statements in the last developer stream that this day is approaching fast and that some planes won't make the initial release, I wouldn't be too shocked if we had to wait a bit longer than expected. I sure hope I'm wrong, though!

All in... eventually.

I'm a payware aircraft and payware airports only flight simmer. Once my favourite add-ons are compatible, I'll dive right in.

By the time they're ready, some of the inevitable early quirks of the new sim should have been ironed out. Looking forward to that day!

I think you all are missing the point. He's not asking if you're going to buy it. He's asking if you're expecting to be disappointed. I will of course buy it on day one, but I'm fully prepared to be disappointed in the lack of things I'm hoping to see. Pebbles, rivers and walking around is great and everything but I'm hoping for control tower closings, pilot control lighting, and storms that can actually hurt the airplane. You know stuff that's actually what it's like to be a pilot...

Imagine thinking that pilots don't "actually" walk around their aircraft. 😂

The more time passes, the more it feels that a lot of the real pilot roleplayers around the community don't really have a very clear idea of what it's really "like to be a pilot."

Assuming the same exact experience as 2020. Not sure why anyone would expect anything else?

You can decide for yourself what that means.

Some simmers forgot what the days were like when the development of Microsoft Flight Simulator came to an end and only small improvements remained. Now it's time to support developers to encourage us to improve our hobby. Just saying.

What does that have to do with the topic?

It's a bit mystifying why a 3rd Party Dev believes saying stuff like this actually helps, especially in an article about the sim itself (and ESPECIALLY when MS/Asobo have obviously figured out the magic recipe and shared it with, well...everyone).

It's always been a case of, "If you want my money, make good addons with good value for money and you'll get it."

Nothing's changed since I got back in to flight sim 7-ish years ago.

I've spent/spend a BUNCH of money "supporting developers" - but only those that prove they've got something worth spending on.

PSX is the Aerowinx Boeing 744 simulator. It has the best systems depth, flight physics, and FMC implementation of any sim available to consumers... but the graphics out the windshield are rudimentary. So networked up with MSFS for the scenery, you get the best of both worlds.

I like MSFS 2020 for pretty much all of what it is, less a very important, at least for me, aspect - flight and overall physics modelling.

Flight dynamics in MSFS 2020 leave a lot to be desired to me, and I keep using the sim mostly because of the  superb functionality, scenery, for having some great addons like the Fenix and the FBW 320, and somehow the PMDG 737 and 777 too, but each flight in MSFS requires that I close my eyes to what would make me shelve a --> FLIGHT <-- simulator after just a few sessions with it - poor flight dynamics.

So, my biggest expectation regarding 2024 are the flight dynamics, ground physics and overall physics modelling, as well as a more coherent weather model when it comes to specific weather for soaring, icing and stormy conditions and there impact on aircraft, etc... As far as I can tell from the relatively restrict images of 2024, it looks trully astounding scenery and purpose wise.

I have long dreamed of having built in SAR missions, fire fighting, agricultural ops and so on, all of which I've seen in the brief sequences of action widely available. In this aspect MSFS 2024 will easily conquer me, but the FLIGHT DYNAMICS ....

Sometimes I have hopes that the fact Petrovich was hired and I believe still makes part of the ASOBO development team, means we can expect to finally have a decent flight dynamics model in MSFS 2024... Let's hope for the best... Fingers crossed...

I can see your point, BUT this ain't the bad ole days of 2020 any longer...

Many of the high fidelity addons have good/very good/excellent flight dynamics. Along with a handful of the Default addons, as well.

OTOH, many addons have average/sub-par flight dynamics, as well.

I'll give you an example: I took a lightly loaded PMDG 737-7 BBJ into PHNG, Kaneohe airfield right next to Honolulu, HI. I like it because, with prevailing winds, the approach requires a very tight (for an airliner) circle to land (this is the same airfield where a 737-800/P-8 Poseidon ran off the end of the runway and right into Kaneohe Bay just last year...!).

I thought it was too easy and the landing distance unrealistically short.

So I loaded up X-Plane's Zibo 738 at roughly same weights, etc. and guess what? Pretty much the same results.

Were there subtle differences in handling, particularly on short final and right after the mains touched down? Yep. But nothing drastic.

Both are high quality addons with flight models well hashed over by IRL pro pilots who declare the FMs very good/excellent.

I can say much the same thing about the T-6 Texan II's available for both sims, as well as a handful of other similar aircraft addons.

This isn't a blanket endorsement of either simulator by any stretch.

It's really a matter of being highly selective about your addon purchases, regardless of the simulator, and ensuring that the 3rd Party Dev focuses on accurate flight dynamics rather than just Hi Fi Systems/Avionics.

This is why I only use thrust reversers after landing my 737-600 until I get down to about 70 knots. I then disengage the reversers, and use full manual brakes. It makes the rollout distance more realistic.
