Be still my beating heart!!!!

Was it clear if "all" includes the existing Defaults, or perhaps just the new ones?

p.s.: THANK you for sharing that detailed list - exciting news!

Ya my reaction exactly 🙂 ... need to go back and check the replay or transcript but Seb said all default aircraft so I'm assuming new ones too (at least we know the new iniBuilds ones will be). But you bring up a good question about other default ones, especially the older ones that might have been developed pre-CFD or because those devs chose to go non-CFD.

Always amazing how some Asobo guys regularly seem half suprised half indignant that people might actually want a realistic ATC or a realistic weather radar instead of tornados and giraffes.

They blew off the weather radar question with a not now comment. Unbelievable that we are, checks notes, 4 years in and the one critical thing whilst in flight, a working wx radar is not in MS2024. Pathetic on their part.

I'm going to bet that MS/Asobo have a partner for improving the ATC and they can't talk about it yet due to a mutual NDA. I mean, we can record a sample of our own voice to use for radio communications... there is obviously work being done that they aren't talking about for some reason. Maybe it won't be ready for release, but it sure seems like something is in the works...

This was exciting to listen to. I agree there is something going on behind closed doors with ATC and they cannot talk about it.

The weather radar was something I thought would be in this iteration but hopefully it will come sometime after launch.

There was so much that I may need to rewatch it at some point just to catch it all.

I am just so thankful that this sim is back and they keep pushing the envelope.

The lack of weather radar and dangerous weather is a sour point with me.  They're literally convincing future pilots that it's ok to fly through storms. This year alone how many single engine planes had their wings detached in a severe storm.

Betting the handcrafted airports that have interiors are still using mesh collisions to prevent exploration in walk-around mode and with the drone camera.

SayIntentions dropped at the end of his weekly livestream (Friday) they will have a big announcement in the next 7-10 days. He said, "we've got something for you that is going to send shock waves through the industry."

I thought we might have had an annoucement on something like during today's stream. Or, he could just be in full marketing mode.

I guess we'll see if anything comes out during this week's Vectors to FInal.

Huh? MSFS 2024 won't lack dangerous weather. In this very stream, like during the recent preview event, they covered various weather topics.. and once again confirmed that cloud density has improved to render storms clouds as they should be, there is simulation of storms and cells, wind shear, gusts, etc and plane will feel the impact of these when flying thru such weather. This was also confirmed by various interviews and articles from the preview event.

From this stream, the weather discussion starts here: https://youtu.be/PYJ2tuhyEEY?t=2354
And then specifically about dangerous weather: https://youtu.be/PYJ2tuhyEEY?t=2399

And a couple of examples out of many from the preview event recently: https://msfsaddons.com/2024/09/19/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024-fully-detailed-a-comprehensive-look-at-the-next-gen-sim/

Live Weather

Weather has always been a central part of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and in the 2024 version, live weather data is even more seamlessly integrated into the simulation. Players will experience real-time weather conditions, including thunderstorms, heavy winds, and turbulence, all powered by live data. Wloch highlighted that the new weather system allows for greater variation in conditions, particularly in more challenging weather situations like tropical storms or blizzards.

MSFS 2024 also introduces 24-hour historical weather, allowing pilots to experience weather conditions from earlier in the day.

The improved weather engine not only affects how the world looks but also impacts flight dynamics. Furthermore, pilots will finally be able to make use of their aircraft’s windshield wipers, which are now fully functional in MSFS 2024! This feature enhances realism in adverse weather, improving visibility and adding a new layer of cockpit management during wet conditions.

Flying through thunderstorms, for example, will require pilots to carefully navigate the turbulence and rapidly changing wind conditions. Wloch demonstrated a thunderstorm over JFK Airport in New York, showing how the cloud layers, lighting, and atmosphere combine to create a truly immersive weather event.

Wind shear mentioned in these for example:

They 100% have something bigger going on with the ATC, I'm convinced at this point. They seem to be holding it back for it's own "reveal", which will probably end up being one of those partner videos.

BATC looks much better to me then SayIntentions.

Unless they want something to tie into the MS ChatCPT (copilot).

People hoping to be pilots should be clever enough to understand not everything possible in a simulator is advisable / legal in real life #omgyoucanflythroughtrees

This is a real stretch.

Don't be so sure. I've run my plane through a lot of airport employees on the tarmac out of force of habit from my time in msfs. So much tragedy, and it could have been avoided with proper coding from asobo.
