I've put this mess of a title down until MS/Asobo get a grip on this blatant Beta Product.

So, does that mean you will stop moaning now?

Oh, I forgot about that 😄

The airports are a freaking mess, and they advertised the migration patterns of the (20-25) animals present in their "digital twin"!

They can't even make the AI aircraft takeoff from the runway in use and there are boarding stairs "migrating" on runways and taxiways 🤣

I have to say: I'm enjoying MSFS 2024 immensely, even with all the gremlins and the useless PC24.

All the moaning and whining remains me of parties: most folks are enjoying the music, drinks, dancing with the ladies (or fellas), and there is this (small) group standing angrily in the back because everyone else is having fun!

Really...?

The general improvements to the flight model alone are worth it.

And there are a host of other flight sim-specific improvements as well.

YES - it's buggy as heck and not ready for Serious Simmers!!!

And neither was v2020 when it was at this stage of release, either.

No reason to abandon v2020 (or X-Plane, or P3D) if what you want isn't (yet) reliable in v2024.

I'm having a great time in all 3 lately, TBH.

Well, not v2020 since I ditched it already 😉

Ditto. I also have deleted 2020.😔

The thing is, 2020 was really sorted. GAIS, FSLTL, Navigraph and all the study level planes I like to fly. I jumped into 2024 on day one and expected a leap forward because of the hype and the statement that practically all my 2020 addons would work in 2024. For me it’s a downgrade because they don’t.

What I am experiencing is far from what I expected. Default AI planes flinging themselves all over the place with constant error messages telling me it can’t access live data. Ditto the ships. Most planes that I fly are not compatible ie PMDG. Crashing, especially when exiting the sim. An appallingly bad simplified menu system. (I can’t for the life of me work out to refuel a plane without setting up a flight plan. All I want is to fill up the tanks!) The ridiculous decision to start outside the cockpit and the battle to find the click spots to remove the gubbins. Intermittent tanking fps. Most of the time it’s fine but occasionally it will just chug for 10 seconds and then recover.

The one joy is that GAIS seems to work if you switch off the in game online ships.

I hadn't touched 2020 since 2024 dropped.

So I took the step and uninstalled it. I'm tooling around in career mode and having fun doing the various certs and missions (OK, I dropped the sightseeing ones, let's be serious).

When this stops being fun, I'll go back to firing up the tubeliners and doing those APL flights again.

I’m probably an 80/20 split in favour of 2024 right now.  I dip back into 2020 for flights in the iFly Max, PMDG 777, but once those move over to 2024 I’ll be done with 2020.

However I might keep 2020 installed for a while as an insurance policy against a 2024 update badly breaking something.

for your metaphor to be accurate, the wine would be corked, the glasses would not have stems and some would have holes in, and the music would be some bizarre east german experimental trance music

and the grumpy folks would be sitting on bean bags enjoying some rolling stones and drinking staropramen

I'm in the same boat, but I think I might flip it to 80.20 in favor of 2020.

I've been getting some CTDs and hangs I didn't have before with the Fenix, and the a300 I have to force quit when I'm done. A lot of little abrasions are taking their toll.

Also, it's clear now that getting the PMDG and iFLY into 24 is going to be a long time coming.
