I tried to downgrade multiple graphics settings without result. At last, I discovered that I had to turn photogrametry to off. Then, the FPS came back to normal. It seems like there is some incompatibility between the new Bing data and photogrammetry. Edit : I think the reason is that I forgot to update my dlss files with DLSS Swapper... Fingers crossed for my next flight ! No change in performance for me but I don’t use DLSS. To me DLSS is just a way to increase performance while degrading visuals.
August 6, 2025Aug 6 My aircraft is now flying along at a cruising altitude of 8,000' and there is no response to control input. This is my first flight since the update (using G36 Turbo) - everything was going well. After about 20 min. at cruise I told the AP to initiate a climb to get over some weather. Nothing. The aircraft will not respond. Used FLC mode - no response. Tried VS mode - no response. Took over manually - no response. Went to exterior view to see if my control inputs are working... elevator, ailerons and rudder all give full deflection but there is no response from the aircraft. There is an indication of RPM change with prop adjustments and I get a response in torque from the throttle but the aircraft itself will not move. This is something I've never seen before. August 6, 2025Aug 6 Finally had a chance to fly in SU16. Other than my little annoyance with finding all of my graphics settings borked, I am very pleased. Hate to over-react after one flight (KSBP - KMYF in the TMB 850) but it sure seems like some substantial improvements have occurred. I can't recall the SoCal mountains ever looking so crisp and detailed, and while I don't count frames, I do use AutoFPS and flying over the LA Basin it was obviously holding very high LOD settings as I had no scenery slowly loading in - it was all just there indicating that my framerate was meeting targets for no reductions. My thought while descending into San Diego was simply - if you'd have told me 10 years ago that I could have this kind of detailed scenery, flying this good of an airplane with no noticeable glitches, stutters or dropped details with a modest system, well... I doubt I would have believed it. I guess that says I was pretty happy with SU16 today. We'll see how long the honeymoon lasts and maybe it was all placebo effect (except there was nothing placebo about the amount of detail I had over LA!), but right now - happiness! August 6, 2025Aug 6 Update on my controls/NAV response being lost: I reset the flight, started over and accelerated back to the approximate position on the FP where everything got borked. This time everything went well and I was able to complete the flight. Everything ran smoothly - weather was really cloud and shower heavy so I wasn't able to check out much of the landscape but it looked good. Frame-rate was a little lower than normal (40 to 50) but everything was smooth. I noticed some new options were up on the G1000 so I'm going to need to check them out. Randall Rocke

This is the most visible thing overall. They improved FS2020 with 5% more subtlety while FS2020 can potentially receive much more. Asobo is rolling out their strategy as planned no matter how much trouble we take to give our opinion. Their Q&A videos and their propaganda have long since stopped making sense to me. This confirms my initial thought that FS2024 is an incredible scam. On my first two flights after the update I noticed the LOD and draw distances issue as well, but I'll be doing more testing (I wasn't part of the SU16 beta, but kind of going to beta test in the following days, LOL). Regarding the ground textures clarity and colouring, in some areas they're not right, but in other areas are Ok. I cannot tell it's, in general, a progress for MSFS2020. Fortunately, the Map Enhancement Tool got an update today (to version 8.3.1, and now it works well with the new Bing Maps), and to me the sim looks better than the new SU16 default when using the Map Tool. August 7, 2025Aug 7 I did a flight today in the iFly Max, LOWW-LOWI, my first complete flight since SU16 and content manager updates. I had terrible performance the entire flight. Everything was smooth for a bit then stutters, then smooth, then stutters. I really hope it was an MS server issue because before SU16 I've had the most beautiful, smooth, stutter-free performance in all the many years/decades I've been flightsimming. Before SU16 the sim was so good I was thinking it would be a waste of $3000-$4000 to build a new system. i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB
