Excellent, but what about the LODs that MSFS 2024 requires that MSFS 2020 doesn’t?

Absolutely agree, I didn’t suggest otherwise … but migration from platforms will vary based on how much has changed and which platform one is migrating to/from.  Since the OP didn’t specify MSFS 2020 to 2024 and just said “flightsims” there can be a world of difference going from P3D to MSFS or from XP to MSFS or FSX to MSFS.  Perhaps the OP should have specified MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024 if that is indeed was the scope, but the word used was “flightsims”.

Regardless, I don’t have the insight into exactly how much work was performed and the costs involved including other costs (support, etc.).

Likewise, no one knows what their approach was in making the 737 for 2024.

However, 2020 did require LOD's just the way they were displayed was different, if they had LOD's for 2020 it would be much more easier to adjust them for 2024 than creating them from scratch, another thing we can now do is use simprop containers, which is a whole other thing, but plenty info available in the SDK.

So yes, there are definetley items that may take a long time, but not as long as it takes starting from scratch.

I'm not saying they didnt create the 737 from the "ground up" but its highly unlikely. I'm pretty sure they did throw that around that it was built from the ground up. Unless I'm recalling another dev.

The devs and texture artists over at Fenix are highly talented, yes they got a good boost by using the prosim software, but they also had to code a lot of it too, for it to fit into MSFS's world. And if we are going to pay for the same aircraft multiple times over the years we do definetley want to see some progress, the Fenix has a real look to it, kind of photorealisitc, the pmdg 737 looks plastic IMO. And that all comes down to the modeling and texturing. FYI Justflight also gets this right.

In terms of quality and price point, Just Flight and Fenix take the lead.

Anyway, lets see how the pricing plays out.

  • It definitely will be. They’ve followed the same strategy for over a decade now. I’m skipping this upgrade…enough is enough. I’m much more interested in seeing what iFly delivers with their next updat

  • This to me is the most boring release of 2025. Now where's that amazing 757 and the 767 to follow by BlueBird?

  • I try to steer clear of PMDG discussions.  I have been a faithful customer for well over two decades and I can truthfully say I’ve bought every plane they have produced, for multiple platforms/simulat

Ah this makes more sense to my brain. If the price is similar to a "cup of coffee" when most others never charged.... this better be a gas station coffee and not some mocha frappa lappe mc bourgeois mega latte  🤣

Is it it just me are or are we being gaslit here a bit?
Robert was the one that spoke of it as a 2024 upgrade in all his messages and interviews, and that the cost was "a couple of cups of coffee".
On the scale of coffee to full price, I've got a feeling the price will be closer to the latter for those of us who own the 2020 version.

Please provide details on exactly how they do that from c++ code, to MSFS 2024 SDK, to modeling changes, texture changes, and finally WASM (which isn’t present in prior flight sims)?

Are you just making stuff up because you want something for free, or have you actually worked on migration of aircraft across platforms?

here comes the PMDG fans wont admit what they know is true, Im still waiting for the ground breaking EFB they announced 4 years ago remember it was going to be ground breaking

Yeah. May be 'good' marketing at first glance.

I find that sort of thing repulsive. And then my wallet stays closed – no matter how unique or 'new' the product may be. And all the supposed eloquence is useless.

'It is better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.'

RSR forgot to specify it was the price of a couple of cups of coffee from Starbucks, which mean the full price of a standalone product . 😉

What do people expect more from a 737? Like it is a 737 and will stay a 737. So yeah of course it looks like previous versions.

Anyway I will buy it immediately, PMDG delivers one of the best and stable products there have been for many years (also LNAV / VNAV.)

Also with Aviacdu and Aviaoverhead it is a great expercience with my touchscreen overhead panel.

Go look at the difference between all the A320s currently on the market and tell me what you think.

Agreed. The 737 has remained one of my favourite aircraft since FS9.

PMDG's PR department has room for improvement however. If you say something is a "completely new product" that took "many years" to complete, people will expect technical details to support the claim, especially when the old and new products look similar, and quirks from the previous product have been carried over.

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C
BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb

9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps

If they charge more than $30 AUD no thanks.

Yes, but this is comparing multiple products (and varying levels of quality) from different developers. PMDG have been releasing top quality simulations of the 737 for many years, so any new versions absolutely should look and feel quite similar (relatively speaking).

Yeah I've seen the same but not seen anything "official" as such.
