  2. This sounds like the most likely. With a new version of MSFS coming out soon (from what I hear), they'd be concentrating on that rather than making aircraft for an older version. "Good looking but lacking depth" seems like a perfect formula for the mass market. The "Serious Simmers" would be looking for more depth but the mass market wouldn't necessarily know or care. I only had one Carenado product, the Cessna 337 Skymaster. It was "good enough" which is all it really needed to be. Hook
  3. I noticed something strange with historical weather. Set up a flight on December 20th 2023 in Nepal (wanted sub-zero temperatures). Started from VNJS Jomsom (8976ft) around 0600z. Temp 6 Celcius. Arrived in Pokhara (2684ft) a few hours later: -13 degrees. Then, around 0800z (same day) in Kathmandu, 19 degrees. It doesn't seem right. Jomsom is a high-altitude airport close to the border of Tibet. Pokhara is in a subtropical region with temperatures up to 40 degrees in summer. The coldest months are December and January, with record lows (1969-2020) of 0-1 Celcius. Also, the snow coverage changes abruptly when closing in on Pokhara, as well as when flying towards Kathmandu. Strange.
  4. In theory, they can do it all. But I find that it is far simpler to hold a proper camera and not have to tap a screen to take a picture or worry if I wobbled too much.
  5. I hate to be pessimistic, but I think it's time to revisit the data from the Mouse Utopia experiments in the 60's and 70's. Even if you're familiar with this you may want to review the details. Just google Mouse Utopia. Basically, a group of 8 healthy mice were given an enclosure and all the food and water they wanted, but would be limited in space. After a brief adjustment period the population boomed. At some point the mouse society changed. Females got aggressive against males wanting to mate and eventually retreated to empty apartments and became hermits, something mice don't do. Young males that lost fights with alpha males that were defending a harem retreated to the center of the enclosure and would "riot", massive fighting for no reason. Females no longer raised pups properly, driving them out of nests too soon or abandoning them entirely to die. Many males became uninterested in mating, spending all their time grooming. They called these "the beautiful ones". Modern accounts do not mention homosexuality but early ones did, putting a lot of emphasis on it. Lowered birth rates and lack of mating eventually capped the population at about 2200, where it started to decline. You would hope that when the population dropped below the trigger level that things would go back to normal, but they didn't. All experiments resulted in the mouse colony dying out completely. This experiment was repeated many times, with the same result every time. There has been considerable controversy over Mouse Utopia. The earliest accounts I remember reading in the 70's didn't give all these details, they simply said that when overcrowding got to a certain point the mice became homosexual and the colony died. I have no idea how such a thing could happen on a global scale with humans in a short time period, but real world accounts are looking alarmingly similar to Mouse Utopia. I hope to God I'm wrong. 6. 1) I can easily get 30 flights out of the 10 dollar pack by turning off premium voices during longer cruise sections when I‘m away from the computer. This will change of course later when ATC also communicates with AI traffic, then it will likely be down to 10 to 20. 2) You don‘t pay for what your copilot says, it‘s free. Only ATC controllers‘ voice costs. 3) Right now the price is good and well worth it, however I‘m a bit concerned I‘ll be paying 20 dollars a month later on when ATC communicates with AI traffic too on the premium voice (and that is with AI traffic itself talking in „basic“). I fly almost every day. I might switch over to basic voice entirely then, only activating premium when I‘m flying in accent-heavy areas (e.g. Germany)
  7. Wow... I usually read people will be able to do 10 to 20 flights with the 10 dollar pack. So I guess that would 30 to 60 with the 30 dollar pack. Are you sure you did the math right? Or do you simply don't fly that often? Anyway, for me the basic voice will do. I often find the premium voices too agitated and too dramatic. They get on my nerves. And I simply don't like the idea to spend money on it. I also am a button user and use auto respond so I would also have to pay to hear 'myself' speak.

  9. Today
  10. So - I'm late to the party since I just recently got a new computer that can run P3DV5. I went ahead and got the TFDI B717. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the flood lights to come on other than hitting the thunderstorm switch. I can turn the integral lights up and down using the outer knob, but I can't seem to get the inner knob to turn at all. Anyone able to provide some assistance? Thanks!
  11. Maybe I'm an outlier but I don't find using my mouse to select responses very immersive. Being able to use real-world phraseology like I can on PilotEdge, Vatsim, SayIntentions, BATC and P2A is what does it for me. I own P2A, BATC, FSHud and subscribe to SI and I find SI to be the most realistic in that I speak to it without having to form my response in just the right way. For example, I can ask "What's the weather like at the airfield?" and it responds appropriately. Hopefully with the new ChatGPT announcement they can get the cost down.
  12. Another with reversed stair set. Mitch Savannah 2
  13. I've only seen Carenado have one pre-MSFS major sale (during the COVID peak), it was a goodie though @ 50% off, I bought all the ones I though I might like.
  14. The speed of AI advancements is mind blowing. Can you imagine what will be possible in 5 years?

I would hardly say that... given the sim is 64 bit, DX12, with volumetric clouds, dynamic lighting and a PDK providing very low level programming access for those commercal and military developers who need that sort of low level programming access. If I was to apply the same logic MSFS would be nothing more than FSX with some pretty scenery and shiny planes. Cheers
  16. I searched for Ezo21 the author and this showed. I'll be downloading it. Looks good.
  17. Ok, GSync would be like vsync at any Hz. I don't think you're understanding how vsync works, basically it syncs the sim to the monitor's screen mode scanrate, e.g. if your screen mode is 60 hz your frame rate will be locked at 60 fps, assuming that is... the sim can actually achieve 60 fps consistantly, if you use the NVidia Control Panel 1/2 scan rate vsync option then the fps will be 1/2 of the current scan rate e.g. 30 fps for a 60 Hz sceen mode. In anycase I see the same @ Boston, they are either too emissive or are black. Likely these are items LM need to address, which maybe they'll do for P3d v6, although more likely they'll fall into the low priority & too hard basket given the default scenery is essentually FSX with minor adjustments and LM doesn't seem at all focused on updating. Maybe enable content reporting in the P3D config and then review the resultant log file, perhaps there are missing textures. A report on the LM forum would be the best option, the LM dev crew could at least see the issue. cheers
  18. Each to his own..🙂 I've fixed and modded many a Carenado aircraft and while pretty, I would describe Carenado aircraft as having minimal depth, with the added feature of being chock full of bugs. Although... that said their later jet releases were on the improve. In any case they're both quite diffferent, the Carenado version has glass avionics and is more automated, where as the Flysimware is more focused on gauges and seat of your pants flying. I know which one I prefer. Cheers
  19. Interesting. Didn't experience that during testing. Doesn't mean there isn't an issue though. For the hidden spots, does using the mouse wheel work?
  20. That must be one of the small (or big) advantages of VR compared to a monitor. In VR I just have to look at the switch once, put my thumb (mouse pointer) on it and can look forward again. The mouse stays where it is, no bezels limiting that. I can then adjust the pitch with the mouse wheel while looking at the vs indicator.
  21. Hi all, pretty close to picking out MFG crosswinds to replace a very old and set of Saitek Cessna rudder pedals. From what I've read, I want the damper kit and then need to make up my mind between having feet on the pedals (default Me109s) or feet on the floor. I'm going to sidestep the conundrum by ordering a 2-pack of pedals. Question is, they have an 'Airbus' footrest and I cannot really find anyone that has bought them and commented. Anyone? I suppose for me I will pick up the 109s, then add either the combat pedal or the Airbus one. I'm mostly a tube flier but expect to branch out much further to fly my GA and helis with these much improved new pedals.
  22. Bedtime now for me after late night Duking. Here's my observations from final flights: Shot first ILS in B60 factory using straight in ILS 14R at AYPY. Very easy test from North. Used GNS530.430 as old favourites. GNS assigned correct ILS as MAIN. Selected VLOC/APP modes and she flew right down to threshold in choppy conditions no issues. GNS 530 bugged with duplicate flight plan entries. 430 was fine. They were both slaved fortunately. Not as good as my realityxp units from fsx. Might not use again but glad I recalled how to use them! VNAV descent advice was poor. Programmed 6000 23 miles before the 3000 WP but got me there 50 miles before. Back to 750 from now on. The hidden pitch click spot is indeed a click right of ALT gauge but on my plane up arrow/down pitch ONLY. So useful for DES no help with climb. The hidden cowl flaps CLOSE dual button hidden hold press worked fine but again only CLOSED option. Why not for OPEN too? Takes almost a minute to open both one at a time! During that flight I changed mixture on cruise and lost all engine sounds. Thought engine died but changing MIX again turned sound back on. Then...started final flight to island 250 miles away. Got to 29k for 30k cruise and...the engines disappeared again. This time they were windmilling and dead. Took me a few to react as thought was sound bug again. Nope. Checked radar/engine repair and saw 100/95% so I had NOT blown them up. Plane was starting to glide down now (30% fuel) so I restarted right engine but forgot to feather first. It started fine but now plane started stall/spin/dive which overstressed frame/end flight in seconds. There was no warning of engine failure. I suspect a mixture issue as past critical altitude of 24k for turbo charger effectiveness? But to just KILL both engines at once no warning was disappointing. Was going to switch to the other Duke 60 tomorrow but will do another 30k cruise flight see if this happens again. Loving the plane, think it still needs tweaking though, especially the hidden hotspots to add bidirectional movement not just single.
