  1. Hi, I have decided to upgrade my flight simulation rig by making my own simple cockpit. I have everything else thought out but I have never done anything with multi-monitors on computers. I'd like to have 4 monitors for outside viewing, setup B737 style. The 5th monitor I would have as the 2D panel view for instruments. A full list of what I'd like to run: 4 outside viewing monitors/TVs 1 smaller monitor for instrument panel Saitek Yoke, Saitek rudder pedals, and Saitek throttle quadrant (1x) Saitek switch, multi, and radio panels Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) I'd be building a custom frame to mount this all in. Here are my PC specs: Windows 7 Home Basic 64 Bit 8 GB RAM/Memory AMD FX 8350 Eight-Core Processor, 4.00 GHz AMD Radeon R9 270X 2GB Two 1TB hard drives (one is C:\) Let me know if I forgot something on system specs. I want to know if this PC/graphics card can run what I requested with the monitors. If so, I need to know how to set it up, because I've never done multi-monitoring before. I wanted to check if this would work and how to do it before I jumped in and bought the monitors and started the build. Thank you!
  2. Hey, I've seen some of you have managed to do some good looking paints! I want to do the same but I don't know how to paint this one. I've done some paints before but this looks very strange. Do you have a template or something? Or is there a guide on how to do it? This is the plane I want to do! Thanks!

I want to know how I can make a plane spotting view within FSX (I heared it's possible with FSReccorder) so I can record a flightvideo from the sice of the runways or from a terminal.... But intill now I can't figure out how to do this... can someone tell me how to make such a view?? or perhaps give me a link to a tutorial on how to do this?? thanks in advance! F747fly

  8. Hi everyone, I need to interview and profile someone for my college writing class and I would like to interview an airline pilot. Could anyone give me some insight or point me in the right direction on how I could get into contact with an airline pilot? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
  9. As some of you may know, I have developed an aircraft for X-Plane called Chase's MD-80. Well, I should say "am developing." I have decided to use this blog to help me communicate to the community my progress and my experiences. I don't have much free time, so I am not sure how this will go, but I will certainly try it out. Here goes. Everyday I seem to wake up and get my MD-80 Project on my mind. I think to myself, "Okay, I'll just go finish ____, and then I'll be done for the day; I can just go fly after that." Well, that hasn't really been happening recently. My routine has been more like: get up, drag myself to the shower, throw on some clothes, shuffle up the stairs, turn on my computer, launch blender, edit ONE thing in the 3D cockpit, launch X-Plane to see if it worked, go back to blender and repeat these steps. Each day I seem more inspired to follow this patter as I start to see the light at the end of the tunnel more and more clearly. Of course I then take a look around and see all that's miss from the plane that I still have to research, model, and texture. But that too is rather inspiring. I want to finish it so badly that I am making a real effort to do as much as I can everyday. I think I have made some serious leaps forward from my last release. That brings me to my next dilemma. I don't know how I should proceed to release this in the future. I mean, in the past I pretty much thought that as I fixed things or added things, I would pack it up and call it a 0.x release. I started off this way too. But as I got into some serious modeling, I reconsidered. I am leaning towards holding off the next release until it is "finished." By that I mean completely modeled and mostly functional. A 1.0 release if you will. It just doesn't seem to make sense to pack up an incomplete aircraft anymore. I am glad I did it originally though. I got lots of positive and helpful feedback from the community that way and also established myself as an MD-80 developer. Now I am stuck though. I have a 0.2 plane sitting in the downloads section of the X-Plane forums with something like 1600 downloads that is well out of date. The flight dynamics are primitive and certainly not characteristic of an MD-80. The fuselage is see-through. And the 3D cockpit is barely textured and almost completely unusable. It is nothing more than a preview. I could pack up what I have now for a release, but how do I clean it up without robbing these good people? I don't want to drop the 3D cockpit as it is the most improved area, yet still unfinished. Plus it would be one LESS thing than what the previous release had. That's no good. I really am struggling. I want to let them have a plane with the correct flight dynamics and such, but I don't think I am ready for that. Right now it looks like I am going to have to wait. I really think I am done with releasing things early as a preview. It makes a mess for me from a developmental standpoint. Now I understand the long wait times at PMDG Until next time, Chase PS: I'll try the picture posting thing now B)
  10. In the Third Vision Jet v2 series video we cover how to Add Navigraph Charts and Simbrief Integration to the Vision Jet. Additionally we go through Editing the Flight plan / Modifying Procedures and then How To "Understand" the Simbrief Load Sheet and transfer that Data into the MSFS W&B Load Manager followed by how to input this reference data into the G3000 Initialization Weight and Balance Page! Bonus for XBOX is that there is an Integrated Simlink interface that runs on the Vision Jet. This enables the sending of Aircraft Data to the network for running Navigraph Charts on an iPad or Laptop alongside the Xbox with full Geolocation features.
  11. Windows 7 64-bit Microsoft FSX Gold Edition I have copied and pasted my FSX folder on to my 2nd larger hard drive, so yes, I do have a back up copy of my full installation of FSX. But should the unthinkable happen and my whole system packs up/blows up/catches fire or whatever, I am thinking of also backing up to discs. But........... ............How do I back up my installed FSX installation to discs please. The total size is 22.2GB and will require 5 discs. I use Nero 11 for normal backing up but have never done anything on this scale before. At the moment when trying to back FSX I get told there isn't enough space on the disc, obviously. What I was hoping would happen is the software would save to a disc and then when that one was full request another disc, and so on until the back up is completed to all discs. But I haven't worked out how, or even if I can do that with this software. Any help/advice appreciated. Thank you
  12. Hello, I currently have my FX 6300 running at 4.2Gz. To achieve this I turned up the multiplier, turned off the turbo boost option, and also turned off the cool and quiet mode. I did not adjust voltage - I just left it set to auto. Everything seems to be running good with this set up and temperatures have only reached 25 degrees Celsius during load tests. I am new to overclocking, in fact this is the first CPU that I have ever overclocked and I have some questions: 1: I would like to run my CPU at 4.5 or 4.7Ghz, however, when I increase the multiplier to anything above 4200Mhz I get error messages from Windows saying my computer is being shut down to prevent damage. How can I safely overclock to 4.7Ghz? What all do I need to change in BIOS? Here is my PC set up: Diablotek EVO case Gigabyte 970a-UD3 motherboard AMD FX 6300 Black Edition CPU (currently @ 4.2Ghz) 16Gb DDR3 Corsair Vengeance RAM EVGA NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 Superclocked 2x 500Gb Sata hard drives Coolermaster 600w PSU Thermaltake Contact 30 CPU cooler 2x 120mm case intake fans 4x 120mm case exhaust fans Thank you,
  13. Hi, I wanted to know how to manually install liveries on the V3. I know it can be done via the ops Center, but I would like to do it myself. Thanks,
  14. I'd like to know if it's possible with ENB-Series to get the star and the reflection effect of the pictures below which I get with the Bloom option set in FSX, and if yes which parameters should i set.
  15. Here is a way to change the stock FSX camera setup so that when using the multiplayer cameras a spot view is created vs. in cockpit/VC. EDIT - This is for pure FSX MP sessions. If using FS Host sessions the same type of camera is already provided via the AI view menu, no mods needed. I tried to get both a VC and a spot view to be used during MP sessions. More experimentation may be needed but I doubt it will work because the camera is instance created using the aircraft container. (FSX closed) 1. Locate the Cameras.cfg in C:\Users\USER_NAME \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX 2. Backup Cameras.cfg if wanted. (stock code vs. new is below) 3. Open up Cameras.cfg using a "raw" text editor (notepad) 4. Find the following stock code - [CameraDefinition.011] Title = Multiplayer Planes Guid = {2559BCED-9F13-4bc0-88C8-3996B9311681} Description = This is the description of the Multiplayer other aircraft view. Save Cameras.cfg6. Start FSX 7. Join the MP session and follow others while using spot view referenced to the player. EX. Here is Roger coming in, a little long, but it was successful with plenty of room. Supposed to be in a 182, it aliased to a WACO - cool, way better than a trike. More to come in the Torres Straits PIREP.
  16. Noticed that in the real world, the 250 kt speed restriction ceiling has now changed from 10000 ft down to 5000 ft. Is there any way to apply this to the sim? And can this be done in P3D and X-Plane when I get them? Also, I've browsed through old threads on how to edit FX files for different lighting effects, BUT i still can't figure out how to successfully get the specific SWA style LED wigwag landing light effect (left on/right off, right on/left off, repeat) I've tried doing it as recognition lights but didn't notice any difference... anyone figure out how?
