December 18, 201213 yr How can you be a hardcore user? Are you a rw pilot? My impression of a 'hardcore user' would be someone who studies and understands every piece of documentation that comes with the product from page-to-page. As this is all within the context of simulation I don't think being a RW pilot would be necessary to be considered 'hardcore'. This looks like a really good release and one I've been keeping my eye on for a while. I currently have the BBS Airbus Prologue which isn't too bad and will wait for them to release their update (hopefully in a week) then make up my mind. Are there many people using a yoke to fly this 'bus? It would seem a bit strange to be flying it using a yoke. Michael R
December 18, 201213 yr I am throwing in the towel. I have spent too much time today with the throttle... and I can't get it to to work. Its like I have only two switches. TOGO or Climb Switch (Full speed ahead or maybe it goes to clmb mode ) or F1 button to cut the throttle (provided I keep holding F1). If I get way too slow, and I increase the throttle a little bit, it triggers the TOGO/Climb Button and goes full throttle... I then I have to hit F1 and hold it.. When I reduce the throttle, the N1 indicator reacts to slow down a bit ...(It knows that I reduced the throttle (So it can't be the calibration ..but then something grabs it and changes its mind and fire walls it. Throttle is as important as your Aileron, Rudder and Elevator. If I can't get that to work.. nothing else matter... systems don't matter if if my thorttle is like a runwaway throttle. I can't get past this to see all the other new goodies that they may have in here. Since this was a major issue in the earlier version, I am surprised that they have not made this any easier. Its almost identical as the earlier dysfunctional version. Manny are you using FSUIPC and have you tried the LUA script fix? This was my problem with Airbus X and it was the only way I could fix the throttles. I use it with the Extended too. Here's a link: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/37876-lua-scripts-for-airbusx-real-throttle%3B-upd-16th-sept/ Scroll down and follow the instruction under this section: LUA scripts for AirbusX throttle I really hope this helps. December 18, 201213 yr Well here's my first impressions, as I just completed my first flight from KPIT to KPHL. Performance - Very good on par with my Wilco A320 which is also one of the best complex aircraft as far as system performance goes. External Model/Texture - I like it very much but I also like the Project Airbus models I use with the Wilco, so I call this a toss up. VC Model/Texture - This one I have mixed feelings about, it seems kind of bland, there is something about it that doesn't seem right compared to real A320 cockpits I've seen, but I can't put my finger on it. The Wilco one is ok, but nothing to write home about either!! Instruments - Much clearer then the Wilco, but can not be undocked which is a bummer Lighting - I haven't flown a night flight yet, so can't comment, but as stated above lighting on the displays is brighter and clearer then the Wiico. System functions - Here I didn't see much difference except unlike the Wilco the anti-ice systems and wipers function. Controls - Control stick seems very stiff, it seems to have a large NULL zone. I may be able to adjust this in my settings, but I don't want to screw up any of my other aircraft. (Especially the NGX) Throttle detents doesn't line up with my HW throttle notches like the Wilco does, but it's not too bad. Preflight setup - Doesn't seem to be much different then the WILCO, but some fields must be manually entered, like fuel. (Which of course is more realistic) Taxiing - was very good, it did take a little power to get it moving, but once going was easy to control. Takeoff - Uneventful except because of the control issue mentioned above took a fai5r amount of back pressure, probably more then would be considered realistic. The pitch and bank angle tracked very well, which is what I would expect from the FBW system. Again though because of the control issue, it was hard to finesse. Autopilot, Once engaged, it tracked well, no different then the Wilco. ILS setup - It doesn't display the ILS identifiers on the approach selection page, like the Wilco, I'm not sure though which way is more realistic, Autoland. I flew the approach autoland, but the FMGC didn't seem to want to calculate a proper VAPP. It displayed 114kts, but that was well below stall speed, even at landing configuration, the lowest I was able to set was about 145kts. I may have been missing something here that I'm not used to from the Wilco A320, so I'll have to go back and read the manual closer on this. Touchdown was rather hard though (400+FPM) this is similar to a video earlier in the week I saw of a Autoland, of what the user claimed was a Beta version of A320 extendeded version, so there may be an issue here. FBW - After m flight I took her up again to test the FBW system. Bank - The plane restricted bank as expected, but it seemed steeper then I think it should be, It seemed closer to 80 degrees, I believe it is suppose to be about 66 degree. It felt like like the plane was going over. releasing the stick it dd return to a more reasonable angle. The Wilco seemed more realistic here. Climb - Restricted to 30 degree up angle as expected, When speed dropped close to stall, the nose dropped to recover. About the same as the W A320 Descend - Restricted to a 15 degree down angle as expected (Same as the Wilco), and on reaching overspeed, the aircraft automatically recovered. This was something that the Wilco did not do, so the edge goes to the Aerosoft model for FBW functions. Overall I happy with the purchase!! December 18, 201213 yr Who's bought it? How do you like it so far? Is there an included manual set or something? i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB

December 18, 201213 yr Who's bought it? How do you like it so far? Is there an included manual set or something? You can download the manual (tutorial) online by going to the Aerosoft Airbus X Extended product page, then go to the bottom. PDF files in multiple languages. As far as the purchase, I really like it!! I had some issues getting FSUIPC to work with the throttle-- but it turned out that I just had to disable the throttle section in FSUIPC and that fixed it. The sounds, graphics and flight modeling are very good. There are a few minor bugs that people have mentioned, but nothing show stopping. My first flight, from Miami to Chicago, I had programmed the ILS (forget which runway) with an offset of more that 45 degrees-- almost like a hook. I was worried the plane wouldn't be able to fly the approach, but it did all the turns on time and the approach was awesome!
December 18, 201213 yr My opinion so far is positive. It feels nice when you hand fly it, but the autopilot makes some harsh pitch corrections sometimes. I haven't seen such behavior when turning tho'. I have mixed feelings with regards to the view system, and it seems they take possession of your F9 and F10 keys (which I use). On the other hand, I usually fly using a gamepad (for several reasons), and the fact that the AXE can only be used using a device with throttle axis and that there wasn't a warning anywhere on Aerosoft shop nor at SimMarket's about the throttle not working with the keyboard, I was tempted to asking for my money back. Instead, I ended up spending hours troubleshooting my gamepad settings in FSUIPC until I gave up and simply decided to program a small LUA script to make the keyboard work with the Airbus throttle via FSUIPC. If any of you is interested please let me know so I can post it somewhere online. I'm afraid you will need the registered version to make it work tho'. cheers Enrique Enrique Vaamonde

Enrique, If you look at the Aerosoft product page under system requirements, it states 'Control unit (joystick) with throttle and rudder control'. Don't know when it was added but it is there now. Also it was made very clear in the preview forum that you must have a throttle. But I guess given the importance, maybe it should be in bold print at the top as a warning. Craig
December 18, 201213 yr After completing a few test flights, I can confidently say that this is one of the top simulations around... I am a very hardcore user and I still find this to be quite complex. I am very pleased with the FMGC simulation and the integration with systems. Overall, 10/10 product. intergration and fmgc simulation, oh lord. its only been out one day and a child without a type rating or even a cpl/ir is quoting its amazing. I wish I could code software. I made a million conning people out of money
