December 18, 201213 yr There was a post a few pages back that indicated that you cannot import an FS flightplan. Is this definitely the case? Also, is it visually different from AirbusX? December 18, 201213 yr intergration and fmgc simulation, oh lord. its only been out one day and a child without a type rating or even a cpl/ir is quoting its amazing. I wish I could code software. December 18, 201213 yr Hi all, I was someone who was very critical of the original Airbus X product, so I just nervously paid my 19 Euros to upgrade to the Airbus X Extended. I am pleased to say that I made the right choice! There is no comparison in operation between the original issue-laden Airbus X, and this new Airbus X Extended.... this is now a really great product. From an initial first flight, everything does exactly what I expect - CLB mode now holds N1 and adjusts pitch perfectly to maintain required speed. FBW feels good - most importantly the issues when the AP was turned off on Approach now seem to be gone. In short, this is a real winner IMHO, at last an Airbus that looks and flies really great. A permanent replacement for the feelThere Airbus 1 now, and I will be flying this A320 as much as the NGX. It is of course not comparable with the NGX in function or detail, but it operates the basics just like a real A320 now (in the important areas anyway IMHO). Happy Airbus Days!
December 18, 201213 yr Disagree. If you have the Airbus X anyway, you can at least get a flyable aircraft for 16 Euro. I bought the Extended yesterday and wasn't disappointed (Aerosoft has made it clear it's not an advanced add-on like the PMDG NGX). I am a Boeing man myself and haven't a clue on how to fly Airbus, but I got it from ENGM to EDDM on the first try without reading the manual and without any issues. I find this a pretty darn good aircraft - way better than I expected. I'm a pmdg boeing fan but I must say this is the top of the food chain in airbus creations for FSX.
December 18, 201213 yr I'm glad that folks are still allowed to be amazed, happy or just exited. Sorry folks, but some of the self proclaimed hardcore bunch really is.. hardcore. Maybe not in the ways they think though. I think the first time I will be able to buy my Airbus upgrade will be close to the weekend. Wait, there's another event closing in then. Oh well, reading your reports in the meantime. Happy flights and days, regardless of the plane in use. By the way, nice review, Tom.
December 18, 201213 yr I really, REALLY like it. I fly mostly the NGX and sometimes MD11/LEVEL-D, and must confess that I´m having some issues on the descent/app phase. Even though the checklists help a lot, the modus operandi is very different from the NGX. For example, when it reaches ToD (alt set to 100), the aircraft doesnt descend automatically and even when I click the whell on the MCP I get a somewhat rough and unstable descent. The throttle is also very different from the boing wich led me to a tail-strike when trying to go-aroud. I guess that adaptation phase is normal... Regarding the graphics, I love it. The external model is gorgeous and I really like the way the VC is presented. I always thought of an Airbus being almos like a self-aware machine/robot, and the insipid texture of the cockpit matches that feeling perfectly. For the price paid (16 euros), was really one of the best FSX purchases I´ve ever made. December 18, 201213 yr How can you be a hardcore user? Are you a rw pilot? Weren't you the guy saying how realistic Captain Sim is a few weeks ago? I'm sure it's a great addon but not exactly sure how you can claim it's a top simulation when a very basic feature seems to be broken as other posts have showed. I don't recall saying CS is realistic... I warned people to stay away from the T7... lol I consider myself hardcore mainly because of the way I follow procedures etc. I tend to execute my flight in the most realistic fashion possible.
December 18, 201213 yr Think I will wait for FSL. Why settle for second place;) Life's too short. You could be sitting there waiting for the FSL Airbus when you and your computer are swept away in the Mayan Apocalyptic Flood. Life's too short for unnecessary regrets. Carpe Diem! Petraeus
December 18, 201213 yr Who's bought it? How do you like it so far? Is there an included manual set or something? I personally LOVE it. The sounds are great. FMGC is quite realistic. Almost all of the overhead is fully functional. The handling is very unique. (FBW) And yes, it comes with many manuals to get started on this bird.
December 18, 201213 yr Manny are you using FSUIPC and have you tried the LUA script fix? This was my problem with Airbus X and it was the only way I could fix the throttles. I use it with the Extended too. Here's a link: http://forum.aerosof...-upd-16th-sept/ Scroll down and follow the instruction under this section: LUA scripts for AirbusX throttle I really hope this helps. Hi Just out of curiosity, have you tried the "AS_AirbusX.lua" script also discussed in this posting with the Extended as I'm currently using this to great effect with the Airbus X and was wondering if still works ? Gary
December 18, 201213 yr I am using LUA scripts with my quadrant, works great! Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
December 18, 201213 yr I am using LUA scripts with my quadrant, works great! Same here, thanks to William whom I'm quoting. The scripts work very well with my CH Throttle Quad. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual
December 18, 201213 yr Punch the order button now.. and have dinner and the house ready for when your wife gets home :p0805: the upgrade price made me do it Sorry I posted that btw. How can you be a hardcore user? Are you a rw pilot? Weren't you the guy saying how realistic Captain Sim is a few weeks ago? I'm sure it's a great addon but not exactly sure how you can claim it's a top simulation when a very basic feature seems to be broken as other posts have showed. Aw give the little guy a break... he really does mean well... and he works hard to give good advice. (Posted a very nice first flight review) Who's bought it? How do you like it so far? Is there an included manual set or something? Not the tf51d that posted right above you... intergration You, sir, are an &@($*. Well now hold on there... let's see if we can teach him to spell before assigning animal i.d.'s to him. If you have the Airbus X anyway, you can at least get a flyable aircraft for 16 Euro. LOL... in for a penny, in for a pound eh? (or in this case in for some €30 - in for €17 more...)
December 18, 201213 yr I am using LUA scripts with my quadrant, works great! Are there any LUA scripts available for it, for the AP controls etc ? I will say again that I think this is an absolute WINNER! ...... A really amazing add-on; the integrated "Co-Pilot / Checklist" system is almost at FS2Crew standards. It will set up the cockpit, run through all checklists, switch on landing lights for T/O etc, absolutely amazing, and all included. Just done a full longer flight and it handles faultlessly ........ what a recovery from the original Airbus X ! Airbus fans - miss this one at your peril! If it only had the ability to assign keys / buttons to the AP controls / Heading Knob, (FSUIPC Mouse Macros sadly do not work with it), this would be my favourite addon ever released, and would tear me from the NGX!
