September 17, 201312 yr Thanks for the details Damian. This is even better than what I was expecting. Dare I say, it could make a realistic weather radar a possibility. Who knows, maybe you can partner with PMDG? A correct simulation of clouds which exhibit real weather conditions and have real effect on the aircraft's performance, as opposed to being just eye candy, is truly a game changer. With no compromises weather simulation AND a working weather radar, this really could be a game changer. A.J. Domingo
September 17, 201312 yr Thanks Damian, for qualifying the "without compromise" statement. As a customer, this all sounds very exciting. Wow bring it on
September 17, 201312 yr Well, I think this will be next part of this truly amazing competition story about weather engines. I'd wish other addons (e.g. ATC) were on the same curve ... As a long-time HiFi customer ASN will be probably my next investment (hoping to get some rebate) Harry - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
September 17, 201312 yr Author WOW.... If this holds together only for half what is stated now, I'll be stunned! It will be a relatively easy upgrade motivation for me (though an upgrade discount will of coarse help to make the decision even faster ). Regards, Frank van der Werff
September 17, 201312 yr I've been an HiFi customer since the very early days and I have to say I am very impressed with the description of ASN. Looking forward to giving it a run! What a great year so far for FSX!
September 17, 201312 yr Commercial Member Update!Active Sky Next: http://www.hifitechinc.com/forums/showthread.php?1147-The-next-version-of-Active-Sky&p=5407&viewfull=1#post5407 This sounds very veeery promising. Waiting for some screenshots covered with beautiful layers of clouds. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
September 17, 201312 yr Sounds veery promising and another improvement over existing already great programs like opus and fsgrw. Only bad thing is that I have to shell out another 40 usd for another weather program. Pretty crazy that I have already spent 160 usd on fsx weather programs.
September 17, 201312 yr New cloud sprite awareness, so we know exactly when you enter a cloud and when you exit it So does this mean no more dissolving clouds as you fly past/through them? The clouds stay put? I hate having a nice big thick cloud to fly through and as it passes my line of sight it dissolves into thin air. Reading the proposed feature list makes one copy already sold to me on day of release.
September 17, 201312 yr That is quite the game changing weather feature list. If holds true this would squash other wx engines as they don't come close to this. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
September 17, 201312 yr We've posted some further details about the product at the link in the OP. We'll be updating that thread with further information and additional teasers, so if you are interested in this product's development, that will be where to hear about it first. Thanks! Have you guys managed to fix the incredibly annoying issue of flickering clouds when they intersect with terrain? Luke Harvest
September 17, 201312 yr Sounds good! I've had every version of active sky since 6.5 and I love it. Hopefully you'll be able to get developers on board to make WX radars work in the VCs, but I highly doubt you'll get PMDG to do it. September 17, 201312 yr Wow, this ASN sounds really really good. Newtons it has taken so long to develop. In the span of one year I will have gone from AS2012 to Opus to FSGRW and full circle back to HiFi. I hope he has reached out to PMDG for getting that radar design into their aircraft. He hints that there might be a seperate graphics software made available. He has Chris Willits on the team so one can hope. Lastly I did not see him address and will look for it in the press release the way the actual clouds are presented in the sim. Volumetric or how they are now? One thinks that the way they look in sim will be different given the amount of work they put into it. Sent from Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Eric
September 17, 201312 yr ASN does sound really great, can't wait to hear some more details. The cloud sprite stuff is really interesting and I am looking forward to this in action. I am wondering whether they have also found a way to control cloud placement, since I have always understood that this was impossible in FSX. If they have, I could imagine this opens up a world of possibilities. I guess we will just have to wait and see once more details are provided. Best regards, Alexander Rietveld
September 18, 201312 yr Administrators... is it acceptable within the TOC of this forum to imply or refer to someone who might or could "lick their own bollocks"? If it is, I would imagine this could become a randy old forum in quite a short time! With regards, -Someone whose never licked any bollocks (not that anything's wrong with that) who's just wondering. <_<
September 18, 201312 yr On refelection, I delete what I wrote, as I realise that it is me that's out of place - I don't fit comfortably anywhere that ^ is offered.
