DX10 Fixer finally released.

Featured Replies

There have already been a couple of posts on pricing for this DX10 patch. My thoughts are similar to others and judging by the amount of confusion and "manual fiddling" install I will pass on this - as for US 33 bucks (39.38 nz) - this is way too steep a price for me to venture into the payware realm with this one regardless of the perceived benefits.

Well my biggest problem is performance! Not the fixers fault, as I always had less performance in DX10 then DX9 (My systems not the greatest) , but I like the water reflections better in DX10. The reason for the fixer for me, was  get the FTX vector lights to work, but once I activated the lights  performance dropped to the floor, much worse then n DX9. 8-9fps without traffic, 6-7 with. I get about double with DX9. So it's back to DX9 for me I wish Orbx, would actually disable the light bgl's when turning off vector lights in FTX Central, instead of just switching the effect on and off. It's just a matter of renaming the 2 light bgl files in the Global scenery folder. Then it would just be a matter of turning off vector lights in the daytime, and we wouldn't get the black boxes. It sort of annoys me that FTXG was sold as DX10 compatible before release, when it was found after release that it wasn't, Their solution wasn't that they would  fix it, or at least disable the light bgl's so we can still use the rest of the package in DX10, without the user renaming files in FSX's core scenery folder, but instead leave it to another payware developer to fix it for them,

Thanks

Hello guys,

some questions (excuse me if already answered but I probably missed them) to evalute the purchase:

1. Will it work with the PMDG 737NGX in all situations (day/night, dawn/dusk) without any problem?

2. The same as 1. but for the PMXG 777X, because I have seen a screenshot with a strange effect at night.

3. Could the AA e transparency filter settings still be set in nVidia Inspector or I must use the DX10 fixer control panel? I am mainly interested to the transparency filter (2xSGSS) to reduce/erase shimmering boring effects.

4. Will it work in all situations (day/night, dawn/dusk) with all these sceneries: FsDreamteam (in particular CYVR which has dynamic shadows) & Flightbeam?

5. Did you experience an increase of (avg) fps or a smoother (no stutters) behaviour?

Finally, a suggestion. Why don't create a database list of addons (aircrafts, sceneries...) giving information about work YES or NOT?

Thanks. Bye.

Had the same thing up until a few weeks ago. If you had installed SMAA mod a while back, check if you have a DXGI.dll and any other file it installed, and rename them. I pulled my hair out for months trying to find why I couldn't run in DX10. No error just exit at startup, like you!!

I'm pretty sure you were right about this. We did a lot of things but this is the piece that seemed to cause the problem. It works. The only big issue I'm having with DX10 now is that I'm still getting black boxes around lights in FTX Global even in the daytime. I have installed the patch. *shrugs*

Rick, it should. I have no issues and its working great with free dx 10 updates.

This really should be fixed, so probably something went wrong there! I have only had time to do one flight, and I did a dusk to night flight because I wanted to experience the FTX Global night lighting, and that is really fixed.

I will check daytime soon and will get back to you if I still get the black boxes. But I highly doubt it! Maybe you should replace your HSLS folder with a back-up (provided by Paul if you don't have it), and then re-run the DX10 fixer.

Hi guys,

I asked earlier but no reply - Could someone please upload some high res shots of the VC shadowing, or alternatively point me in the direction of some as I couldn't find any?

Thanks,

Robert

This is interesting.  Two threads almost identical.  One full of childish arguments for and against buying the Fixer.  The other full of thoughtful and intriguing posts dedicated to exploring solutions to a myriad of problems.

I just installed the fixer along with the patch to FTX Global.  I've only played with it a few minutes but it looks great so far!

My enthusiasm for the fixer on release was evident on the forum, then I backed off, just to avoid the pricing argument and the DX9 v DX10 argument.

Sorry, Robert - I've not taken the headset off since 9 this morning, teamspeak and Teamviewer, fixing issues for different folks... my wife had the nerve to suggest I didn't have a life, laughing as she fed my cold dinner to our dogs......

The only ones I have (now) are here - of the A2A Cub. It works, and quite nicely for all addon aircraft created without shadowing - legacy not included. I hope they will meet your requirements!

All the best,

I just installed Steve's DX10 Fixer and, for me, it's a game changer.  One of the best products I have ever bought.  I had TaxiGate KDCA and, when I flew in at night I could see nothing.  No runway, nothing.  Lighting at the airport was poor too.  Now, it's a total transformation and I'm positive the developers at TaxiGate are absolutely stunned at seeing how nice their product looks at night in DX10 mode.  And the lighting in Crystal City!  Yikes!  It looks better than the real thing!  So far that's all of my exploring with this fantastic piece of software.  Rain is coming in this weekend so more exciting explorations are planned.  Thanks Steve (and PJ for your testing and most likely your many suggestions).  The waiting was worth it!

Best regards,

Jim
