We'll have to wait until our friends in Europe go to bed before we download in the US. You guys are going to bed, right? 😄

Yes I will. But only after starting the download.🤣

Kind regards, Michael

Okay it's going now I was just too impatient before, eventually "checking for updates" clears and you can proceed to download, at the speeds I am currently getting (7 Mbits/sec) it will take 6 hours to clear the 40 GB.

Mine gets to the world update Nordics screen after the Rhino's, then the sound stutters and it CTD's.

First stage update is done in Windows store.  It says 'updated today'.  I turned the PC on about an hour ago and let it run, so it did the background update as it usually does, so that bit is all good.

But whether I click on load MSFS from the Windows store screen, or use the desktop icon, it crashes to desktop after a few minutes.  Some intermittent messages about no connectivity to the servers.

Sometimes it reconnects showing a green box, but I get the red lost connectivity box a few seconds later, followed by the CTD with the music stuttering just beforehand.

It looks like the servers are getting pounded then.  I will try overnight before I go to bed in 5 or 6 hours time.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

13% after almost 45 minutes...Sigh

I am 12% after 3 hours! And my GPU is at 98% heating up the house. At this rate it is going to take me a week to download this because I am not going to leave my GPU running at this pace for 50 hours. Not impressed.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Uh oh, my sim crashed while downloading the update.

For those wondering what is happening when the download pauses and shows "please wait", it's just decompressing the files you've just downloaded.

Well no... when it is decompressing, it says so.. 😉

Bert

Exactly 3 hrs downloading and just hit 50% on a 45 mb/s connection.  So another 3 hours to go before getting to the content manager and market place which I'm guessing will take another 6 hours.  This certainly is some update and I hope it's going to be worth it.

Still my rig is still hashing away at 50 while I'm downloading (which is only 10 less than it does at idle). I wonder how much quicker it will go if I switch off the mining?

So did they forget to list the Bugs Fixed in the Changelog then? It's rather empty of information on anything other than new features and the Performance upgrade.

Try it and come to your own judgement. It’s silky smooth, but it also has its downsides.

Where can I read about the downsides?

I uninstalled the sim months back.

Not sure If it's worth installing again for VR depending on these downsides?
