Also try an IFR flight with RNAV LPV landing!  Very slick.

Try starting at KTPA, and select a KTPA R01L RNAV approach via PIE.

Fly on autopilot at 2000 feet in NAV mode, until passing FITPA on final.

You should see the GTN indicating LPV, and the HSI showing the glideslope indicator.

At that point, push APR and let the autopilot take you down the glidepath.

I just did this.

It did hold the glide path pretty well at 105 KIAS.  I was wary of my earlier ILS experiences at 105 KIAS (where it came in low on the GS), but this RNAV approach held the glide path pretty well.

It did make me do a complete circuit of the hold at FITPA -- but that was probably a mistake on my part -- before it entered the approach path.  The approach loaded with that hold and I didn't want to break out of the hold for fear of missing out on the expected RNAV LPV goodness to come.

Guess what, that is part of the approach.. so you did it correctly! 😉

It seems that if you're not really in the slot, it will not recover well.   I mean you have to be pretty close on your throttle control and if you're not, it will have trouble holding the glide slope.

Hello,

Am I the only one having problems to maintain right rudder during take off roll ? This feels extreme... It wasn't the case with first version. Also rigth after touchdown, the airplane is uncontrolable rudder wise.

Do you guys experience something similar ?

Thanks for your help.

Me too. I've had 2 in 4 flights. Very rarely do I get a CTD.

I have a couple of new liveries, so I'll see if these are the problem.

Yes the required rudder input for s small crosswind is excessive.

What issues did you run into Bert?  I was on 1.4.2 yesterday for my flight.

Ryan, this issue and also wind aside, would you know if this craft is supposed to have counter rotating props or not?

Thanks

The C414 does not have counter rotating props.

Al

Just to verify:

Not available on SimMarket yet?

Is this why strong rudder is required during takeoff?  I find I have to apply full right rudder to keep it even close to centerline.

I find the airplane dropping below the glidepath, even above 120 kts.

Beta 1.4.0. was stable for me.

If anyone runs into this with theTDS GTN and 1.4.2., I can include the 1.4.0. autopilot code in my GTN mod as an interim fix.

I find dropping below glidepath with 1.4.0 *sometimes*.   At times it works great but others, not.

As I said, one approach into 01L at KTPA was great, the other, not so great.  I haven't figured out why -- I came into glidepath intercept from below, at 2000 ft as you have done, for both landings.   I thought I came in at about the same speed, but it could be I got too slow on my second landing, and that caused it to drop below glidepath.

Once locked into the glidepath on that RNAV/LPV approach, I notice even very slight throttle adjustments can wildly affect the nose-up/nose-down behavior.   My thinking is that this should instead affect vertical speed, and not so much nose-up/nose-down behavior.
