And yet there are unfortunately users who will see this as a good "review"

Ironically in the link I posted RIGHT BEFORE the video post my screenshots show ASFS to be MORE dramatic and I was asking if that was realistic or not.

Maybe the reason there are not more 'good' video reviews of ASFS right now is that those of us who have it configured well are too busy enjoying it to be bothered to persuade others we are 'right'. Please note obviously I'm joking about being right.....'content' is the more accurate word.

I don't who are you talking about, but in the past I bought several P3D AS versions, I found that HiFi was very supportive, but their work was mediocre from my point of view. I found the new AS for FS20 improved, but it reflects the same mediocrity of the P3D times, waiting for improvements, but waiting for FS24 above all.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

Here is my guess, if you don;t like what AS does both in P3D and MSFS 2020, you will be on the forum when MS 2024 is released, complaining about the weather again. I have a question for you, how much flying have you done in ASFS since it has been released?

Can you place your point of view more consisely so that I can try to understand how you can classify their work as "mediocre" ?

It's probably the first time I see AS P3D being classified that way 🥴

I'm referring to the YouTube video creator. I don't think it's you, but I could be wrong?

Either way, I'm specifically referring to the vitriol that he writes in his description of his video.

I was thinking the same, and was just about to post it (About the personal thing he must have against the developer).

I have no problem with anyone ranting and raving or venting about a product they dislike on YouTube. Gotta make a living right? Plus drama sells sadly.

Calling out a small developer by NAME though crosses the line for me. That's a personal attack not a review at all.

That's me--if FS24 flops for weather I'll reconsider but for now I'm happy to wait and see what is developed.  MS/A has the distinct advantage of knowing what their greatly enhanced multithreading can do for clouds and weather, and once again to port out everything above the ground in effect to a 3rd party doesn't bode well to me-it's far too big of a domain to do that with.  And conveying to MS/A that another source will take care of this is the really bad part IMO.  This might seem over the top but it is a reality:  what if...something happens to HiFi.  Stuff happens all the time and I want everything above ground to be contained within the sim.

Bob, in English you use the word "agenda"...

Yet, [hidden] agenda means to secretly try to achieve or cause a particular scenario to occur. The only way I can understand reddit and BTL commenters calling HiFi 'cash-grabbers' or 'lazy' is if their ultimate aim is to drive out what they perceive to be low and mid-tier devs from the market, in favour of perceived higher-quality devs, freeware or Asobo?

I don't think I saw anyone here suggest that HiFi were somehow misleading unsuspecting simmers to buy a product that is a 'cash-grab'. Perhaps ryanbatc is right when he said that younger simmers are used to $5 rather than $50 purchases for game mods and everyone is fed-up of increasing costs.

Compared to buying loot boxes, livery mods, level-ups, 'premium content', and the ability to bypass in-game adverts in mobile games, etc. HiFi's ASFS is (to me) a far superior value offering.

Someone (in the old/closed) thread said that METAR cloud information only goes up to 5,000 ft. Is that correct?  The link below indicates 10,000ft.

https://wiki.ivao.aero/en/home/training/documentation/METAR_explanation

In Europe we are finding many such stations which cap at 5K ft, and then use NCD or NSC to specify no clouds above that threshold.  We don't see this in the USA where it's typical to see clouds up to and beyond 20K ft (although some equipment does filter, some above 18K, some above 24K, etc).  It's basically different everywhere you go.  We're working on improving the interpretation and combination of GFS+Surface data to bring mid + upper level clouds to NSC/NCD METARs.

It's very popular to hate me and Active Sky, and by extension, those who support me, our development team or the product.  I've mentioned (harped on) this before but that's also generated criticism so I try to leave it alone.  I've just learned to live with it and not let it discourage me any further.... the harder I work, the more we all do to satisfy the criticism or demands, the more HiFi accomplishes as a team, the more hate.  I guess that means we're doing something right.  I think it's also worth it (for me anyway) to consider that much of the apparent criticism is competitive in nature, real or perceived.

ASFS made the PMDG 737 give out a windshear warning? After weighing all the pros and cons of ASFS vs. default live weather I think this just was the final push I needed to buy ASFS.

Yeah, I have no idea if the warning came from ASFS or the PMDG 737?  I have been flying the PMDG 737 since it came out in all sorts of conditions and I never got a windshear warning from it.  So I am guessing the warning actually came from ASFS.  Damian might be able to explain this feature?

Non the less it was kind of shocking and pretty cool.  It seems when you are in windshear conditions controlling the airplane becomes challenging.  Sort of like driving on an icy road.  At first you have no reaction so you naturally tend to over react and finely when you get bite on the wings you over correct.  Seems pretty realistic but I am not a real pilot so what do I know?

Its possible the warning came from RealTurb but again I never heard it give a windshear warning from that program.  I am guessing the actual warning came from ASFS!

Another thing I noticed and this is so far out there I am not giving it any sort of official notice is my ground textures and detail were pretty high up there.  Either Asobo has been messing with the ground detail or ASFS somehow eases resources so your ground textures seem improved.  Its hard to say is occasionally it just is better for some unknown reason but the detail flying into LAS was pretty solid using ASFS.  I think its safe to say such findings are unscientific but we can hope!

IMHO, AS had serious issues with Tru Sky early on. I rarely got accurate ceilings when METAR reported low cloud bases (BKN/OVC) not to mention the square cloud patterns.

To be fair, the product improved after that.
