It's the curse of Sim Update FIVE 😆

I think the same people were ranting about SU4, SU3, SU2..... and will be the same with SU6, SU7, SU8.....

As a guy who spends every six months in Level D sims, the weather  in 2024 is miles better than how it looks in a real sim.  First off there is no live weather in a real sim, so it’s all presets.

This is my CPU usage over LA which lasted for a good 2 mins.

And? Why are people afraid to use their PCs

I had to end the game via task manager because my PC was about to melt.

Based on what? your temperatures? No OS-based software can cause physical damage to a CPU, the CPU will protect itself if it determines that.

Ya' know, I'm becoming convinced that we wont be happy until you can zoom in and see yourself looking up and waving, then we'll complain that our avatar is wearing the wrong color shirt....! 🙃

Meanwhile we continue flying a sim with more features than we ever even dreamed of having, just a few years ago.

A program on its bazillionth update as we all transition from a sim (FSX) that got (I think) two updates in a decade, and had features as payware that we now all expect to be both perfect and free....

Bemused in America.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I just did 4 flights since SU5 came out, all relatively flawless. BATC gave me pretty bad spacing which gave me an opportunity to see the new wake turbulence and was definetely cool to see. I can finally use Chaseplane in VR again which is a plus for me. It sucks to see gears still spawning in so late, but from what I'm reading that's a 3rd party issue. Furthermore I'm happy to see that finally with the advent of "bug fixing" SUs is over, the team are going to finally focus on the big issues like weather.

Is everything perfect? No. Am I trying to say some people complaints here are invalid? 100% no, but then you see other people showcasing that the dev team have clearly acknowledged a bug or missing feature and still double down on complaining, I don't get it.

Asobo and FS24 is by no means a perfect piece of software, but I'm grateful that it's a supported piece of software and I'm not beholden to the yearly service packs of yester-year. I think it might be helpful to calm down the cynisism a tad and sometime just.. fly.

Totally  agree. They have downgraded the sim.

Mine look extra crisp. The servers are probably a little bogged down for you guys.

Actually I think they may have downgraded the land textures. Hard to say but certainly the UK isn't looking great to my mind.

This is a known problem that I now get about every alternate day. It drives me mad.  It usually takes 2 restarts of the sim for the keyboard functions to start working again.   Eg. The next restart after the problem, the key functions still won't work and on the 3rd restart they will.

Some say unplugging your keyboard's USB plug and reinserting it, gets the keyboard working again for them. That has never made any difference for me.   Restarts are always required.

It used to happen about once a month for me with MSFS2020.  Then, when 2024 launched I never had the problem for months.  It then started happening very regularly again, after the last update (SU4).

How annoying.    That's what I ended up doing.   Restarted and all was well.   It did seem that some of my control setting were changed after the SU5 update.   Is that a known issue?

Well known YT channels like Easyjetsimpilot just put out a video about this. His take is Asobo/MS have further dumbed down MSFS2024 for console players in SU5.

Mine looks better than ever. Very happy with SU5.

Another wasted weekend trying to make my sim look anything other than absolute **** after a SU.
Can anyone fly next to Marseille airport and tell me if their sim looks this bad, or it's something on my end?

And my take is that he is seeing things. Or maybe I need new glasses. 😉

I did notice that the sim now respects my "no music" setting during startup again.

I have not noticed any degradation in the quality of terrain textures. Maybe you need to be running in 15360x8640 resolution on a 512 inch wide monitor to notice the difference?
