  1. Past hour
  2. This happened to me too at the weekend. My issue was caused by the Xbox gaming service being stuck in an update loop. Stopping and restarting the update in the MS Store app and rebooting the PC solved it. Try that.
  3. If you'd have mentioned this a couple of days ago before I released this final version I could possibly have configured the app to work this way, but it is too late now sorry. I wouldn't worry too much about running GPU-Z in the background as it has a very low footprint on system resources and is tried and tested as a reliable app over many years that it has been out there. You can achieve close to what you want by running GPU-Z in the background and using AutoTLOD method with TLOD Min set to the fixed TLOD you want and TLOD base altitude set really high, like 80000 ft, so that TLOD stays fixed at TLOD Min for all of your usual flying. When the GPU load drops below your trigger percentage, nominally 95%, cloud quality will drop. IMO this is a much better way of controlling cloud quality as FPS drops are usually not GPU related anyway, so dropping cloud quality based on FPS only would be very hit and miss.
  4. I agree, although I still have hopes.... I'm still wanting to believe 12.1 will be worth the wait. ATC (default) lags way behind my expectations though, and it's difficult to believe it'll reach an acceptable level, comparable to my experience in MSFS and P3D with FSHUD and FSLTL... But then, oither than that, airplanes and helicopters at least fly plausibly and manouver on ground acceptably, and default weather is promissing and already very acceptable for my use, so.... just as before with other versions, XP is still my Go-To non combat flightsim for "feel of flight" and bad weather operations(*) (*) A pitty AeroflyFS does get even less support, because it surely has potential too in as far as flight dynamics and systems modelling goes...
  5. Some animals or birds regulate their offspring depending on availability of food and or other resources. But they aren't homo sapiens....
  6. Maybe we will see a Boom Overture land there one day
  7. AI will answer before I asked my question, I assume
  8. Interesting announcement from OpenAI. A reduction in the price of SayInentions would be nice.
  9. When one Discord buddy got certified to work Ground on Vatsim and was on his own for the first time, we badly wanted to load up and try out the self driving tug feature of the 737, by calling and asking for MX repositions to and from the most random, little used, out of the way places on his airport. We didn't do it... But it would have been fun.
  10. Many thanks, Reset! I note that the app now lets you control cloud setting independent of TLOD setting - via GPU load (and a separate app running in addition). Would it be an idea to also let cloud setting depend on fps directly, that is to say that low fps may trigger lower cloud settings irrespective of the TLOD? In this way there would be no need for a separate app monitoring GPU load. I would prefer to avoid yet another app running in the background, while still having the possibility to control cloud settings independent of TLOD.

Yes, hence the "additional features" in my sentence, but all of the ESP stuff is still there under. They built on top. MSFS seems to have branched out much more, it doesn't even "look' like ESP anymore. The physics, the graphics, the weather, the terrain, the multiplayer, all of these systems and a few other basics are very different to what they used to be in ESP. And *in comparison to that* P3D is much closer to the original ESP platform, with some (not a few) additional features and improvements. This was an answer to the original statement telling that both P3D and MSFS were based on ESP. While this is very valid for P3D, it's not very valid for MSFS.

  14. I do not see MSFS in the MS Store app either. Microsoft probably changed that a while ago and I think it is logical to use the Xbox app. Account issues are generally solved by logging out of the Xbox app, rebooting the PC and then logging in again, with the same account you purchased MSFS with off course. If it is not installed, then probably what you see on your PC is a leftover from an previous installation. Could you check the file "%localappdata%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\UserCfg.opt"? the last line should point to the root folder of your MSFS installation, where the Official and Community folders can be found. If that is not correct that might be the issue which you can correct in that file. Another thing is to try uninstalling MSFS via "Add/Remove Programs" in Windows. That will only uninstall the core of MSFSIf the Community and Official folders are still there that is OK, you can point to them during the next installation attempt which saves you a lot of downloading. You can also point to a new location if you want to download everything again, to make sure everything is as it should be. And if all else fails, a reinstall is sometimes quicker than spending hours of troubleshooting.
  15. And a 50% price drop for developers, apparently. So SI is about to get cheaper?
  16. XPlane is desperately needing many urgent upgrades (clouds, graphics, performance, AI/ATC, careers, scenery/diversity, multiplayer, immersion, multi threading etc) but the progress is not happening as expected.
  17. This sounds like the most likely. With a new version of MSFS coming out soon (from what I hear), they'd be concentrating on that rather than making aircraft for an older version. "Good looking but lacking depth" seems like a perfect formula for the mass market. The "Serious Simmers" would be looking for more depth but the mass market wouldn't necessarily know or care. I only had one Carenado product, the Cessna 337 Skymaster. It was "good enough" which is all it really needed to be. Hook
  18. I noticed something strange with historical weather. Set up a flight on December 20th 2023 in Nepal (wanted sub-zero temperatures). Started from VNJS Jomsom (8976ft) around 0600z. Temp 6 Celcius. Arrived in Pokhara (2684ft) a few hours later: -13 degrees. Then, around 0800z (same day) in Kathmandu, 19 degrees. It doesn't seem right. Jomsom is a high-altitude airport close to the border of Tibet. Pokhara is in a subtropical region with temperatures up to 40 degrees in summer. The coldest months are December and January, with record lows (1969-2020) of 0-1 Celcius. Also, the snow coverage changes abruptly when closing in on Pokhara, as well as when flying towards Kathmandu. Strange.
  19. In theory, they can do it all. But I find that it is far simpler to hold a proper camera and not have to tap a screen to take a picture or worry if I wobbled too much.
  20. I hate to be pessimistic, but I think it's time to revisit the data from the Mouse Utopia experiments in the 60's and 70's. Even if you're familiar with this you may want to review the details. Just google Mouse Utopia. Basically, a group of 8 healthy mice were given an enclosure and all the food and water they wanted, but would be limited in space. After a brief adjustment period the population boomed. At some point the mouse society changed. Females got aggressive against males wanting to mate and eventually retreated to empty apartments and became hermits, something mice don't do. Young males that lost fights with alpha males that were defending a harem retreated to the center of the enclosure and would "riot", massive fighting for no reason. Females no longer raised pups properly, driving them out of nests too soon or abandoning them entirely to die. Many males became uninterested in mating, spending all their time grooming. They called these "the beautiful ones". Modern accounts do not mention homosexuality but early ones did, putting a lot of emphasis on it. Lowered birth rates and lack of mating eventually capped the population at about 2200, where it started to decline. You would hope that when the population dropped below the trigger level that things would go back to normal, but they didn't. All experiments resulted in the mouse colony dying out completely. This experiment was repeated many times, with the same result every time. There has been considerable controversy over Mouse Utopia. The earliest accounts I remember reading in the 70's didn't give all these details, they simply said that when overcrowding got to a certain point the mice became homosexual and the colony died. I have no idea how such a thing could happen on a global scale with humans in a short time period, but real world accounts are looking alarmingly similar to Mouse Utopia. I hope to God I'm wrong. 21. 1) I can easily get 30 flights out of the 10 dollar pack by turning off premium voices during longer cruise sections when I‘m away from the computer. This will change of course later when ATC also communicates with AI traffic, then it will likely be down to 10 to 20. 2) You don‘t pay for what your copilot says, it‘s free. Only ATC controllers‘ voice costs. 3) Right now the price is good and well worth it, however I‘m a bit concerned I‘ll be paying 20 dollars a month later on when ATC communicates with AI traffic too on the premium voice (and that is with AI traffic itself talking in „basic“). I fly almost every day. I might switch over to basic voice entirely then, only activating premium when I‘m flying in accent-heavy areas (e.g. Germany)
  22. Wow... I usually read people will be able to do 10 to 20 flights with the 10 dollar pack. So I guess that would 30 to 60 with the 30 dollar pack. Are you sure you did the math right? Or do you simply don't fly that often? Anyway, for me the basic voice will do. I often find the premium voices too agitated and too dramatic. They get on my nerves. And I simply don't like the idea to spend money on it. I also am a button user and use auto respond so I would also have to pay to hear 'myself' speak.
  23. Traveling incognito with suitcases full of money...🙂
  24. So - I'm late to the party since I just recently got a new computer that can run P3DV5. I went ahead and got the TFDI B717. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the flood lights to come on other than hitting the thunderstorm switch. I can turn the integral lights up and down using the outer knob, but I can't seem to get the inner knob to turn at all. Anyone able to provide some assistance? Thanks!
