  2. First of all, I wouldn't say that superradiance is a quantum effect. It is a coherent superposition of light emitted from a number (let's call it N) of emitters, which increases the intensity of light like N^2. In normal media, when the emitters are not coherent, the intensity only grows like N. Hence, the observation of superradiance says nothing about quantum effects in the brain, although it is certainly intriguing. More importantly, that whole consciousness and collapse of the wavefunction issue is a rather old hypothesis, going back to the 1940s. Modern understanding of quantum physics can almost remove the collapse entirely. If a quantum system interacts with its environment, and we do not observe all of this environment, then we will lose information. That information loss happens very quickly, and the quantum system of interest then behaves in the same way as the "collapse of the wavefunction" would suggest. If you want to study the collapse of a larger system (say, a cat and a radioactive nucleus in a box), you can let this larger system interact with an even wider environment and get again around the collapse. Hence, the collapse is not as mysterious anymore as one may think. The only limit of this "decoherence theory" (loss of information) is when you want to study the collapse of the state of the entire cosmos. Apart from the practical impossibility to do such an experiment, this question is only of relevance in quantum cosmology. And guess what: Penrose is a cosmologist. I am impressed by the superradiance experiment, but I am not buying into that consciousness idea. Peter
  3. I'm three flights in now and quite enjoying it. Haven't experienced any major bugs or glitches and it's so many miles beyond default ATC. I haven't used voice yet. Flew into EGAA tonight and got very good vectors for the RNAV 07 approach. It would definitely be helpful to have the option to change runway assignment. On callsigns, it would be nice to have an option to enter our own...I love flying the BAe-146 and F-28 using callsigns of airlines that don't exist anymore so I'm thinking some of those ICAO codes will not be known by BATC (as per the AWE example above). I've bene using the excellent FS ATC Chatter alongside BATC to give me background chatter. I have noticed there seems to be a lot of times where the frequency being used by BATC shows as out of range in FS ATC Chatter. I see that BATC abbreviates the last digit off of the ATC frequency so maybe that's why? All in all though, I'm quite happy with this, certainly US$30 well spent and I'm looking forward to how it develops.
  4. Yes, once in a while no response! Then you fly over the field to check the windsock! Occasionally someone else in the vicinity will chime in on the active. Often the choice is pretty obvious at your destination (based on your departure ) unless the winds have done a 180!
  5. My wish is for a keyboard key to easily adjust autopilot heading. Using mouse or touchpad, especially on the 747 it is even hard to get the cursor in right place without changing bank angle. Right now you only get one degree per keypress. Holding key down does nothing, but it should continuously change the heading. No-brainer!
  6. I lately try to post to the Wishlist in flightsimulator.com but keep getting directed to Bug Reportingc
  7. A quantum mechanical link was already established I think about a decade or more ago that the progeny of Migrating birds were finding the exact tree they nested in. Can't remember the details but I recall it being very similiar to this microtubules idea that Penrose is talking about. If I recall correctly the term microtubules was even used. I've always had great respect for Penrose but I never forget that he is a hard Materialist/Physicalist. My position is that mater is 'Real' but its not primordial. So I think he and others are totally wrong about consciousness. Their myopic naturalist world view has them barking up the wrong tree. Edit: OK, now that I have watched the video I know its total click bait after the first sentence. 'Roger Penrose calms Microtubules are the Origin of Consciousnesses, Well it seems he was right! At least about the Microtubules!'.......... F-off! I really have less and less respect for Hossenfelder everyday.

  9. you omitted the most inportant thing: the airplane used. If the airplane can’t use cargo loaders (for example because its cargo door is too low), GSX will use belt loaders, no matter what you set in the airport profile.
  10. its actually kind of cool once you get the hang of it.
  11. So... P3D 5.4 Adequate hardware I don't see how your vsync is going to work if your monitor is at 100hz, you'd need to be able to achieve a minimum of 100 fps in P3D for the vsync to take effect, is it a GSync monitor ? if so is GSync enabled ? Does the monitor support 60 Hz ? if so you can trial vsync on in P3D while using the NVidia control panel 1/2 Hz vsync. e.g. a 60 Hz screen mode would vsync @ 30 fps. 30 frames per second will unload the GPU and CPU and give headroom to P3D to expand it's graphic's capabilities. Have you trialled the Prepar3D.cfg settings I've listed ? For screen grabs you need to post a screen grab on a third party website and then link it back to your post here by pasting in the URL. See below, it's a little out of date regarding the embeding options but the general gist covers it. I myself use Steam as a pic repository, but there are many others. Cheers
  12. started a flight (pmdg 738) everything worked fine. could disengage brakes, steer with a tiller, rudders worked fine. landed 5 hours later and couldn't stop. brakes didn't work, rudder didn't work. rudder pedals and brakes look fine in msfs controls, and in external view they work fine as well. Tried this with PMDG, Fenix, and Piper Arrow, all with the same effect. I feel like I might have triggered some feature that I didn't know about? I restarted the machine as well, same thing. I guess I should reinstall, but was wondering if anyone has had this happen? thx mb
  13. Coming from a software development background I can say all software has issues, and the more "agile" the development, the more broken functionality and new and exciting bugs that end up going go into the too hard basket 😉 A development manager once said to me, "we don't release to fix bugs, we release to make sales". Eventually software maturity and stability will be achived provided the development of said software continues. Cheers
  14. There is a really nice manual that explains AP operation, among other things. It's definitely an older style system.

  16. Gasp !! 😬 I think the world would be better off without it. Now if it were the "FlywareSim - Falcon 50"... that would be an aircraft of preference 😎 Cheers
  17. Rogen

    ORBX.

Not quite understanding the first paragraph's relevance, but yeah the second paragraph where Orbx is looking to branch out with a B2B focus would be targeting commercial use and licensing, assuming all opportunities to make $$, e.g. P3D and their existing ESP based catalogue (given P3D's commercial & business license status) and in building objects for businesses directly like the DC map and items for ASBO. Time will tell if their pivoting is successful enough. Cheers
  18. Same here... TDS GTN... Works just fine, and yes, the ATT mode takes a bit of getting used to.. 😉
  19. My comment has nothing to do with Orbx with the exception of where I placed the mesh with regards to before or after Orbx software. I posted the comment in case my placement of the mesh in the scheme of things was incorrect.
  20. So it used to work fine when P3D was version 5.3 but stopped working post update to P3D version 5.4 ? Infact the only message regarding power in the script is, ipc.display("OXYNATOR: Can not refill when power is off!",6) the script does however reference an LVAR to determine if the battery is on. event.Lvar("L:BatteryElecPower",100,"toogle_ready") Sounds like something missed during the update, (either something missed and/or an introduced issue in v5.4), my general advice would be to go over everything step by step, as if you were completely reinstalling FSUIP6, the LUA script and the gauge. The LUA script references an IPC value to determine if it is ready to start so be sure your FSUIP6 is the latest version. In my FSUIP6.ini I have the following entries. [LuaFiles] 1=001.icefun 2=002.oxynator 3=003.Oxy_Supply [Auto] 1=Lua 001.icefun 2=Lua 002.oxynator Also check the logging in FSUIP6, e.g. it should show things happening. 1347125 H:\Addons_P3D\P3Dv5\06.Aircraft_P3Dv5\A2A\A2A\SimObjects\Airplanes\A2A_C182\C182.air 1347125 ### Mode is NORMAL 1347531 Lua threads being terminated: 1347531 4 = "H:\Addons_P3D\03.Utility\FSUIPC6\002.oxynator.lua" 1347687 LUA: "H:\Addons_P3D\03.Utility\FSUIPC6\002.oxynator.lua": killed 1347703 Aircraft="A2A C182 VH-DLL" 1348328 LUA.6: OXYNATOR: started 1348422 LUA.6: OXYNATOR: NOT ready 1350765 LUA.6: OXYNATOR: ready Hope the above helps. 21. If MSFS crashes with an empty community folder then I'd start with an extensive memory test or checking ALL drivers for updates. For the first 9 months after MSFS came out I had plenty of crashes and I could not finish any flight that lasted over 20 minutes. It turned out AMD had an issue with the built-in USB controller which only was solved when a new driver became available. If it is not drivers, chances are either your bios settings are too tight, especially your RAM and CPU settings. MSFS does not like overclocking and using an XMP profile for your memory is overclocking! Perhaps you can list your hardware so we can get an idea of what might be a weak point.
  22. I've updated the readme in anticipation of 0.4.2.16 formal release in the next day or so. Since @prolixindecrecently mentioned wanting to know more about GPU load functionality, including when to use it, here is the relevant extract from the updated readme: Decrease Cloud Quality - When enabled, will reduce/restore cloud quality by one level if the activation condition is met. Activation Methods TLOD is the original method and is most suitable for systems where TLOD has the largest impact on desired MSFS performance. GPU Load is the new method that allows cloud quality changes to occur independently of TLOD and is most suitable for systems where cloud quality has a similar or larger impact on desired MSFS performance than TLOD does. IFR and VFR flight modes will use the same cloud reduction method. TLOD (FPS Sensitivity and FPS Tolerance TLOD Automation Methods) Decreases when TLOD has already auto reduced to TLOD Min and FPS is still below target FPS by more than the FPS tolerance. Cloud Recovery TLOD with optional + The TLOD level required to cancel an active cloud quality reduction state and restore cloud quality back to its initial higher quality level. Ideally set to 50 TLOD or more above TLOD Min to provide a TLOD buffer to minimise the chance that cloud quality will constantly change down and up. When + is checked, Cloud Recovery TLOD becomes relative to TLOD Min instead of absolute. GPU Load (All TLOD Automation Methods) Requires the GPU-Z companion app to be installed and running for this method to work. If GPU-Z is not running, the user will be alerted to start it in on the app status line in the General section. Decreases when the GPU load, as measured by the GPU-Z companion app, is higher than the user-defined Decrease GPU Load percentage. Cloud Recovery GPU load Recovers when the GPU load is lower than the user-defined Recover GPU Load percentage. Ideally set to at least 15% lower than the Decrease GPU Load percentage to provide a GPU load buffer to minimise the chance that cloud quality will constantly change down and up. Let me know if any of this requires clarifying or expanding.
  23. Just tried the TDS again & it is functioning ok now, & the appropriate AP lights are showing up. Used to hitting the VS button to invoke a climb rate so this AP is taking a bit of getting used to as regards setting the climb. Will try the PMS again tomorrow. T45
  24. I did two flights today (BOS-LGA) with each ATC. With FSHud, even though the voices are very good now, I noticed a lack of humanity on the voices. With BATC, I like the "Over to Tower, see ya" (Now, if they ever do the Vatsim "SEE YUH" I'd laugh my behind off) BATC, I felt the quality of the ATC was better., I'd get "cross XXX at or above an ALT." Being able to change the runways/approaches is something I feel they need to add soon. If it is just reading the Simbrief plan, I can see this being an issue on long hauls. It also had no clue about AWE call sign. Insteac of Cactus, I got "Airbus 2115." As part of clearance, I haven't gotten an "expect runway x", but I see on some videos folks do get it. EDIT: It's on the bottom of the readback buttons. My Bad. I wish I could just read the ATIS.
  25. Flew the piston variant today for the second flight. I can’t shut down the engines anymore. I cut the fuel with the mixtures levers and the plane shakes, the engines sound like they are trying to shut down but the props keepin spinning. Manifold pressure indicates shut down engines. The prop rpm slllooowwwlllyyy creeps to a halt but after about 7 minutes. The only to fully get the engines to shut down is by feathering the props. Not only that, once I do this to get the engines to full shut down, the plane keeps shaking like it’s being shaken by the engine pistons barely firing. apparently strong winds keep the props windmilling? I’ve never seen that before.
