  1. Past hour
  2. Why don’t you remove Orbx NZ Mesh for a few days and check it out for yourself? -B
  3. The site may be up but it's not taking orders.
  4. there are settings with in the option section not to load the flight plans in, you can set it automatically or not
  5. Frame Gen seems to work perfectly on my sim. MSFS_AutoFPS shows exactly twice the frame rate as does Dev mode FPS display. The 4k display is smooth and just as I would expect with FG working. However - I never find a Frame Gen option in the General Options window in the sim. At one point, prior to updating my .dll files for Frame Gen the option did always appear. What have I done wrong? I've attached a screen shot:
  6. Just give you perspective. I'm commercial rated pilot in both category single and multi engine airplanes, also a flight instructor. I have about 18 different types of airplanes in my logbook including YAKs, Beechcrafts, Pipers, Mooneys, Cessnas, Rockwell, North American and others. I personally do not find hard to fly SWS PC-12 at all! Yet I can't tell if FM right or wrong based on my certificates or 20+ years of experience for a simple reason I have zero hours in PC-12! Of course I could spot obvious inconsistencies that would make me believe something is terribly wrong! At the same time I would yield my expertise to those who fly actually PC-12 for at least 100 hours or more. So before we go further into your feeling and perceptions. How many hours do you have in actual PC-12? If you at the same ball park as me. Could you provide account other PC-12 pilots who tried SWS PC-12 in MSFS and can concur with your observation?
  7. So, I've been enthusing about the C-130 recently, and I thought I'd take it for a trip to the Scillies to see how it fitted in there, but following some other posts about the C-130 and it's inability to open it's ramp in flight compared to the Transall, I found myself wondering if the C-17 could fly with its ramp down (it can), one thing led to another and I found myself doing a trip from Exeter EGTE down to St Mary's EGHE in the C-17 instead of the C-130. This is all what feels like "my" territory, being Torquay based, and I do know quite a lot of it quite well in real life. And it is all well served in MSFS, especially with all my little extras added on. This set is focussed on the arrival at EGHE though. I recorded the whole flight and will go back and grab some more pix of the rest of the flight, as there's some lovely scenery in this part of the world and both the C-17 and C-130 (and no doubt the Transall) look pretty good flying over it. But I had wanted to see if EGHE could cope with these two monsters. The C-17 is certainly a biggie but supposedly has good STOL capability so I was hopeful. As I have said many times, I'm in no way a serious piloty simmer, so things like this are all a bit hit and miss for me. It's all hand flown, and I will happily admit that I have been known to cheat a bit for the purposes of a good screenie and occasionally will fall back on tricks like slew mode or slowing the sim right down, but I was determined to do this for "real". Took me five attempts, but I did manage an unfaked natural landing in the end (and I grabbed a video to prove it!), and to my surprise the C-17 didn't even actually need the entire length of the runway 27 (but only just). I have both Superspud's and RealVFR's Scilly Isles scenery, and this set is actually using the RealVFR version, as I usually use Superspud's version but wanted to see what this looked like. All in all I prefer Superspud's and that is what I'll use for the next flight in the C-130. So grab some popcorn, settle back and watch a rather unusual arrival on the (for this flight, appropriately named) Scilly Isles. No idea if any of my settings (flaps, speed etc) would be appropriate in real life, but after a few attempts I ended up coming in with all flaps and speed brakes on early at around 120 kts at this point. Seemed to work and that's all I care about Nice day for it. You can't see them in this shot but there were huge flocks of seagulls circling the end of the runway, just to add to the fun Nice bit of a slope here to help drag down some of the arrival speed And if you look real close you'll see that I don't think there was a single inch of runway unused (all accidental of course, I wouldn't dream of claiming any precision on this) She came to a full stop just befor the turn off But I wasn't sure about making the turn without taking the roof off the terminal! Taller than I thought so was way above the terminal roof and made the turn quite happily Not much room for anyone else though Great fun, and highly recommended!
  8. Here more exciting news about the next release coming from JustSid (source: discord). And this is only about the wipers and rain/ice effects: Let's see... - Wipers pick up rain streaks - The surging every few seconds is fixed - Icing does what you would expect because the system now simulates and tracks ice accumulation - Icing gets affected by the wind direction, so surfaces pointing into the wind will receive icing - Icing is read back from the GPU simulation and pumped into the FM so that the flight model and visuals match up - Rain spawning is affected by wind direction and gravity, so it won't just spawn on surfaces pointing away from the wind - Rain streaks are no longer laminar but get turbulent flow and streak no longer in a straight line - Rendering resolution is improved - The whole system uses less VRAM - There's a bunch of additional commands authors can use to modify the behaviour of the rain, so eg. planes like the Citation X can now properly implement their super hydrophobic coated glass and no longer see streaks on them
  9. I had the same thing happening to me when I tried to use vsync in the game settings. I didn't like working with GSYNC in my NCP.
  10. Flying around NZ the past couple days and I have been noticing quite a bit of terrain morphing, kinda like steps in the terrain that keep moving as if the ground height is constantly being adjusted in the vicinity of the aircraft. Got me wondering as I have Orbx New Zealand Mesh installed. I have checked it is the current v1.1.0 version. Anyone else notice this and/or is this a known issue? Is this mesh even still relevant as I know that the NZ WU a while back added improved mesh anyway.
  11. Thank you for a concise and well thought out guide. Appreciate your contributions.. Thank you.
  12. Although there is no logical thing, that I could see, that would have any effect on the matter, I thought I'd give it a try. Ya'know what? I was right! 😀
  13. I don't own this yet. A couple of pics from the manuals:
  14. This will only work with Windows 11 Pro. There is no domain join on Windows 11 Home.
  15. @jcomm, SODE v1.8 won’t work with v5. Get v1.71 here. https://sode.12bpilot.ch/?page_id=1471
  16. 1. The latter. Well, it uses MSFS graphics and cloud textures and stuff, but nothing in regards of weather data. 2. All three make use of it. Some probably are not working in passive depiction mode (e.g. those that actively influence clouds or transitions, obviously, with MSFS taking over the cloud depiction).
  17. Reinstalled p3dv5 to have a clean install with just fslabs Airbuses and orbx global, vector and Europe LC, but when I installed the simconnect fsx acceleration for sode 1.8.0, when I start p3d the window never appears. Have uninstalled sode and fsx acc simconnect, but I always have to force the window to appear through the task manager 🥴
  18. Thanks for updating your settings guidance. I will definitely give this close scrutiny as you have proven to be a consistently sound and thorough expert on MSFS settings and system enhancements. Well done Captain! Rich
  19. @ampharoah, open AiCompanion and run BGL Check. I think that’s what it’s called. If your paths are correct as seems probable it will show any warnings and errors. You could also run Stats and select the Global option. See what that returns. To show screenshots you need a hosting company where you can store the images and link to them here.
  20. Minor update. The originally posted flightplans (from Thursday) do not have the explicit names for the POIs. Those should be just fine as simple waypoints (WP1, etc). However, if you want one set of flightplans with the POIs explicitly named in the *.lnmpln and *.pln and the NONAMES version separately, then simply redownload the flightplans. The actual plan for flying is the same, but now you have the option of having a version that has the names explicitly marked – if you want to follow along.
  21. Today
  22. Very true! I also wish they had added a few more realistic GPS options such as a single GNS 430, a single GTN 650 and perhaps the excellent freeware KLN90B.
  23. I appreciate all the above responses! Couple of questions: 1. Does Live weather with the Active Preset mode make any use of MSFS live weather? Or is it mainly based on METARS and interpolation (smoothing) between them? 2. Do all three Active Preset options make use of the many variables you can set with the AS controls, or is that only for the Live weather option? I realize these questions have likely been answered somewhere in the 60+ pages of the various AS threads, but it is not always easy to find them. Thanks very much, Al
  24. I think so. iniBuilds has been developing several aircraft for Asobo, including two that will be included in MSFS 2024.
  25. v1.2 - Trim tab adjustments added to the walk-round. Has anyone found them ? I can't see where they are carried out.
  26. You are not wrong about the right way to say it, but your description is slightly off. There are two basic modes: Passive and Active Preset modes, which are either Live MSFS with air effects from ASFS (Passive) and not MSFS weather where ASFS injected there weather and more air effects (Active Preset). Within Active Preset mode, there are three options: Live weather, Historical Weather (which you can set independently or through the time in the sim via a locking option) and Custom weather for a certain geographic region that you define on the map.
