Is this MSFS2024 anything other than a MS Moneygrab?

This is the only thing that prevented DLC style Updates, the Career Mode, the UI, the physics improvements, the lighting engine upgrade etc - all of that could've easily been added straight to MSFS2020 via an Update process and not an entirely new Sim. But seeing as they've gone full Cloud then there is the reason to provide a new title and yes earn some extra money. Personally I would've preferred they ignored the Cloud and just upgraded MSFS2020 over time, I would've happily paid extra for new features and big updates and stuff.

But they have made a new console game to shift more XBOX's, that is what they have done and added gamey bits a avatars etc. If you already own MSFS 2020 its madness to buy it again but a console port to PC.

  • I'd say the tessellation improvements for sure.  I don't think they had support for the much higher resolution of runways, taxiways, ramps etc.  The ground up close is so much better, grass, auto gene

  • I would assume Ryan considered “troll” because only 47 posts AND your Hyperbolic  Headline concerning “Money Grabs”.  I assume you work for a living?  Bills to pay?  Kids to raise?  Sound like you?  W

  • Because people come here or lurk here for years with hardly any contributions... and then they wait for moments like this (this sim had a bad launch its no lie)... and come out with a post like this -

How DARE you say this!

I agree 100% at this point it is a game more than a sim. The fact it is on Xbox says much.

You will be chastised like me, in fact people think I'm a TROLL too!

I don't believe it was a money grab. Just an old fashion cluster @#$% software launch.

...........and what does that have to do with the sun coming up tomorrow morning?  Mine's a legitimate question that I happen to believe valid to ask.  Of course, the rational world might look differently in the Minneapolis troll world.

Rough start , a lot of stuff to polish but definitely not a money grab . I tried a career in 172 and definitely noticed flight model improvement. I'd say may be brakes a little sticky but otherwise I'm really impressed with default 172.

The PC and XBox versions should be separate. That would save the developers and the end users a lot of grief. The interfaces are different and the experience should be optimized for both without interfering with the other. They would both share the underlying flight simulator engine.

Been waiting 1 year for this; can wait 1 hour every time need to start the sim.

There are several thousand simmers who are now paying to be beta testers.

Hi,

Don't think it's a money grab, I can see the improvements. With that said I did request a refund, but that's because I didn't realize it was going to be 100% streaming, I thought we'd be getting more on or end to reduce issues. Sorry but I don't want to have to rely on their servers and if I'm going to have a smooth run depending on demand at the time of my flight.

I believe for many is not so much the bugs; but the facts Misobo sell a streaming game that at the moment is not streaming; as results gamers get frustrated to wait and wait often without play it. Think for a moment; could not be worst really.

I read some people from Azure speaking up and pointing fingers at Asobo. The infrastructure is there, you just have to ask for it and order it to be made available to you. And that is not Azure's job, it's the job of the people who plan to run an all streaming platform.

It was the copy of MSFS launch: Youtube videos showing the exact state of the release version, Youtubers saying this is the pre production release, the final one will be PERFECT, TRUST ME BRO.
I want you guys playing it for a month or 2, then I'll come back here to read because you're the only ones I trust.

New lighting, new clouds, new flight physics, new ground physics, tesselation, free charts (I mean, that alone is worth a new version fee!), new planes, Ray tracing, many years of free support and new updates likely, new streaming infrastructure, etc.etc.etc.etc.

No, it’s not a money grab. You’re an unserious person.

Definately NOT a money grab! Come on - please... Honestly, when reading the headline (which is grossly hyperbolic), I didn't think you were serious. I don't know. Why did you come to this conclusion, that it should be?? It's only been released for about 30 hours, and you're willing to lay your judgement??

Yes, they'd had a bad launch (to say it mildly), but come on... Which AAA-game in recent years (or past 2 decades) have had a good launch?

Now, I haven't spent that much time in the new sim, but from the quick two flights I got to try out, I noticed a lot of improvements. Flight model, textures, trees, fauna, clouds etc. Quite a lot of work, has clearly gotten into this sim and you're ready to judge them and calling them out and accusing them of dishonest behavior? Again, it's been released for not even 30 hours - 12 of which, we weren't even able to launch the game... and it still suffers from server issues and lagging. But, on the other hand, calm down. All these things will be ironed out in time. It seems like a solid platform and the improvements, seem quite good, so far. So give it time. They are working on it. Personally I think it'll be a great sim... just not today. 🙂

I don't know anymore... people are SO quick to jump to conclusions and less and less willing to be overbearing, when things doesn't go their way or they encounter issues... But I guess, that doesn't just go for game-launches.

Best regards,

This should be obvious, but a lot of people are extremely dissapointed and even angry at the moment.

Some of the posts that might be considered overly negative or even rants should be viewed in this context.

If they weren't so enthusiastic over this hobby they love, they wouldn't even be here.  Give them a bit of air.  If you don't like it just skip over them.  Some people are upset to the point of anger, and I can see why.

Personally, I hope the servers straighten out in the next few days to the point where everybody has had the chance to access it properly and then we can evaluate whet we have properly.

Not a money grab but a cautious purchase for sure, for me at least. With a so hyped announcement of the successor of a so successful simulator, what can we expect? a bumpy start for sure, just too many early adopters. I will let the dust to settle for several weeks and then I will purchase my FS2024 copy, no rush. I don't want to spoil my experience since day one. I know this new version will be a blast. It is just not fair to blame the new simulator because of the impatience of many.
