1. Denial.
Examples:  I must have a setting wrong.  Is HAGS on?  Which NVidia driver am I on?  Is there a new one?  Maybe try that FPS TLOD adjust thing?  Maybe its the High Precision Event Timer again.  I'll check the forums.

2. Frustration.
Examples:  This makes no sense.  15 FPS in 2D mode?  Why can't I figure this out.  I already lowered settings to potato, and on a 4090?  Others seem to like it and get it to work.  Are they paid by Microsoft, like all the you-tubers are?

3. Anger.
Examples:  This is basically an expansion pack, how can it be this unfinished?  It's like a beta 1 release.  Did ANYONE at Asobo or Microsoft actually try playing the game?  That Grand Canyon thing looked good, was it all a scam?  I mean, if I'm honest, if I got a paid vacation to the Grand Canyon with helicopter rides and everything, I'd video myself lying to the entire internet too.

4. Acceptance.
Examples:  It's Christmas time and I don't want to be in a bad mood, I'm going to uninstall it and go back to FS2020.  I'll keep an eye out every so often and see if it's fixed in a few months.  I don't feel like playing patch-update-Russian-roulette, and it's ok to feel that way.

5. Sadness.
Examples: I spent $100+ on this game.  I was looking forward to taking some time during holiday break to enjoy all the cool new stuff.  I could have bought my children a couple extra Christmas presents.  I could have taken my spouse out to a nice Sunday brunch.  I could have just spent some rare free time playing fetch with my dog for free.

OMG all that grief, glad I decided to remain in a holding pattern before landing in 2024 wonderland and $100 less in my wallet.

 

My name is Monica, and I'm a Flightsim addict😒 It all started back in the year 1979, on a Tandy TRS80. Nothing big, just a few lines and numbers on the screen telling me how far I was from the runway. That just wasn't cutting it. So I tried Sublogic. Simple, lite, but it just wasn't what I was looking for. I tried adding a joystick, but it just wasn't enough. I experimented with a few others, but something was missing, I just couldn't feel the high. Then came FS4, a real game changer. I had finally started feeling the high, color graphics, real runways....I thought I could get to heaven. Then one day, someone introduced me to X-Plane, and I was hooked......it just felt so real, nothing I'd ever experienced before. This was it. This was what I'd been looking for. Then P3D came along, not quite impressed. I'd tried FSX and this was just another "Flavor", not much more, just a fancy name, "Lockheed Martin"...whoooo🥴. I kept bouncing back and forth between FSX/P3D and Xplane, taking whatever I could get, but I just couldn't get enough! Added rudder pedals, a throttle quadrant, anything I could to get that HIGH! It seemed like I was going nowhere. Occasionally I would get a good high, but that was few and far between. Between tweaking and troubleshooting, I just wasn't getting enough. I tried a few others, AeroflyFS (smoooooth😐), DCS (too violent, felt like everyone was after me), and Flight Sim World (too basic, unfinished, out-dated), nothing seemed to satisfy me anymore. Where do I go from here? Is there no way to reach an ultimate "High"? Have I reached the end of the road? What seemed like an eternity on FSX/P3D/XPlane, and feeling like I was losing control was wasting my life away. Gone were the days of going to the beach, watching movies at the local theater, or dining at a fancy restaurant with family. But, I didn't care. I just wanted my highs. Then one day, the All Mighty must have been looking down on me! My prayers were answered! Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020!!! I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Stunning graphics, "Real" airplanes, even a new helicopter! Everything I could ever ask for!😲 I dabbled with this a few years, but soon fell into the same old trap, constant tweaking, too much troubleshooting, especially after those "updates", and soon I was looking for more. But, I wasn't going to let this one get the best of me. I was getting my high, I was using it every day, without much fuss, and I found myself content for the first time in decades. It cost me way too much though, my ex, my family, all those missed opportunities to enjoy life, gone. And for what?! All the money I spent trying to get that "ultimate high" could have been used to buy a new car, or take the family out camping, or even a new house. (at least I had the world right on my PC😇) That's when I sought out therapy. I knew I had gone too far. I knew I had spent way too much time and money on my addiction, yes, I admit, ADDICTION! I needed to get a life!  The first several months seemed to to really drag. I can't believe I'm doing this. Where is it going to lead me? Do I really need to do this? But, I was committed. It was all going pretty well...........until..........wait!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024!!!!!!! OMG!!!!! This is what I've been waiting for!!!!!!! Out of this world graphics!!!! Study level aircraft!!!! Walk around mode!!! What more could I ever ask for???!!!!!!

Hey Monica, I'm also a FS addict that started around 1985 with a 200MHertz CPU, windows 3.1 and 2megs of ram over a dialup connection. There wasn't much to see as far as land mass or buildings but to start up at LAX was just a pave looking runway with a line with blue in the foreground to simulate sky was what got me hooked. The clouds looked like cotton balls, no weather and ground looked like a mass of dirt. But things has evolved today with realism jets and helos. I'm amaze how far things have came and thankful for what we have now compared to 40 years ago. I wish people were more grateful and appreciative to what they have today than what was available 40 years ago.

Sounds like a newcomer. I actually got the first flight sim running on a highly modded Apple II computer back in '77.   Believe it or not.

Very Sad Indeed. Your priorities in life are sadly a mess! I would think your spouse and children are more important!

I only had three stages with 2020

First stage - water popping out of ground on a short flight between Jasper, Alberta and Hinton, Alberta. As I got closer to Hinton everything was snow cover in the middle of July cause by poor default satellite imagery for this area.

Second stage - Thought I would check out the Casey Emergency Strip in Quebec. Tried to take off from the nearest airport CSU5 because the Casey Emergency Strip isn't depicted in MSFS (didn't expect it to be). Could not takeoff or do anything because my plane is setting on the roof of a building that covers the whole CSU5 airport.

Third Stage - Decided to do a flight from my home in Alberta airport to The Pas CYQD airport in Manitoba.  One problem, could not create a flight plan because CYQD airport does not exist on MSFS 2020 even though it has a 6300 foot paved runway. Decided to take off from a nearby airport to The Pas airport to see what was up.  Reason for no airport, poor satellite imagery for this area. this includes poor waterbodies which looks a widespread issue for parts of northern Canada.

Haven't used MSFS 2020 since, went back to P3DV5 and probably will not try MSFS 2024 unless they I know for sure they have done a better job with the scenery in parts of Northern Canada.

 I'm running i9-13900KF, RTX4090 and 64G of RAM. 20224 run smoother than 2020 for me on Ultra. I use APL2 with inbuild A300 flying for Fedex . Other than annoying message about "live traffic error" that is appear after last patch (a bug), I'm pretty much enjoy better visuals, better weather, seasons, better FM  and etc. 

Yes 2024 career sucks, some stock aircraft broken but who care I rarely used them in 2020 anyway. So far I have Fenix 319/321, Inbuild A300, Just Flight RJ running nearly perfectly in 2024.

I guess there are two types of people one who only complains and one who actually enjoy flying ! I remember certain type of student who always complained about everything: aircraft, air traffic controllers, unfair weather, CFI, you name it! They always ended up switching instructor  after instructor another blaming everything and everyone with little or no progress. The bottom line take a deep breath and be positive! Things will get better
