Based on my brief experience with SU3, I would say significant changes have been made in the simulator's components with respect to performance.  When I started SU3 and without any settings changes (but cleared shader cache, etc. prior to starting), FPS tanked.  I have a midrange system with the Community folder currently having only the PMDG B777-300ER and Navigraph, and was getting about 60 FPS with no stutters prior to SU3.  With SU3, on the ground and on the runway the FPS was maxing out at about 20 and the test takeoff roll was stutter city....unusable.  I then played around with the graphics settings and the one that seems to have made a big difference is Frame Generation.  It was OFF prior to SU3, it is ON now and the FPS fluctuates between 80-100.  I have no stutters and even though performance-wise I have moved in the right direction, I am not declaring victory yet because my SU3 experience is very limited.  My recommendation to people who are having performance problems is to treat SU3 as a new product and revisit every single graphics setting, i.e., a configuration that yielded good/acceptable performance prior to SU3 does not seem to have any bearing on the current MSFS2024 performance.

Asobo 737 Max 8 flight from Poland to Bulgaria yesterday, usually fps prior to SU3 would be  29 to 34 fps, but during the latter end of the flight the  fps started to oscillate between 30 & 10.

Haven't had that before.

Well you can‘t have it all, no stutters while panning around 360 degrees *and* high FPS.
I prefer the latter, because the angle of panning when in the cockpit is max. 60 degrees to each side. So I rarely have stutters and yet 60 FPS on ultra at heavy payware airports with full BATC traffic. I think they did very well with the LODs in MSFS2024 overall.

Hello @Fiorentoni,

If you want, you can disable the out-of-view LODs by going to your graphics options and setting "Off-screen Terrain Pre-Caching" to "Ultra". This will give you full visual quality when panning the camera around (no more waiting a brief moment for the high def terrain to "pop in"), at the tradeoff of using more VRAM. If you have a PC with a high-end GPU, you should be able to set that option to Ultra without it impacting your performance too much.

One of the biggest improvements (I've jumped from SU2 to SU3 today) is the clarity - both the outside world as my airplanes seem more real than ever before - quite outstanding!

EDIT. So I took a look at settings and saw that Multiplayer was turned on.  I’ve always turned Multiplayer off since Release Day One MSFS 2020.  Anyway, must have been enabled during yesterday’s release.  I turned it back off and for me?  Stutter free once again.  Try it. You might like it.

 

Even tho it’s been suggested that it’s just a placebo, in my case it has restored my system back to its SU3 BETA smoothness.  Flying now KMIA/KDEN in PMDG 777-200 ER.  Departure from KMIA was flawless with frames in high 30’s to mid 40’s.  Once airborne frames remained in the 40’s until passing 10k or so where they transitioned to low to mid 50’s with nary a stutter in sight.  Stock TAA, no FG on my RTX 4070ti.  Very much my experience during most of the beta.  I’m well pleased once again and suggest one more time to insure MultiPlayer s disabled if you don’t use it.  I suspect the injected MP aircraft were causing most of my “stuttering mess”. Are some of the AI and ATC voices new?  Sounds like some of the other aircraft are talking through a tin can on a string (I think that's how some of the value airlines still do it) 🙂

LEMG (MK) + FSLabs A32x + GSX + AIG = 65.5 GB RAM (can see an FPS drop around the FSLabs A32x.

Verified with Task Manager 63.3 GB used out of my 96 GB ... I don't know your graphics settings, but I'm using the same as before TAA=200 everything on Ultra.

Slightly less RAM used with A2A Aerostar 600 - 59.3GB:

I don't know if your hardware signature is still accurate, but if you are running 64GB RAM, then it's very likely you are swapping to disk which will cause significant stutters.

I seem to recall a video somewhere on YouTube where MSFS 2024 performed better with 96GB of RAM which is why I went that route.

Sorry don't have the FNX A320, but from my testing the RAM usage seems to be the issue not the aircraft selected as the A2A was 59GB and FSLabs 65GB.

AFAIK, Windows will use as much memory as you give it if there are things to put in that memory. You'd need to run your same test on 64 and 32GB of RAM to see if the extra memory actually improves performance. Back in the 2020 days, when I upgraded from 32 to 64GB of RAM, the decreased memory timings had a larger impact than the increase in memory (and the impact was only a few FPS). I confirmed this by removing half of the new memory to bring me down to 32GB, and noticed the performance was still better than that of my older, slower 32GB sticks.

AMD 9950X3D's IMC is 2 channel ... I'm running two 48GB modules at 6400MT/s

What I suspect is really happening here is my MSFS scenery cache is 32GB and it's being loaded into memory (this is a good thing for performance as RAM is considerably faster than any I/O, even my Samsung 9100 nVME).

Those things aren't important if they don't affect performance. Re: I/O, if it's something that isn't accessed again, or is only accessed when you reload the flight and saves a few seconds of loading, is it worth that data being retained in memory? My point was this test doesn't mean much unless you perform the same test with less memory and can actually record a performance benefit with more memory installed. And for 2020 (albeit it was with limited testing), the extra memory did not make a measurable difference.

You could get a workstation with 512GB of memory and load the entirety of MSFS onto a RAM disk and will likely quickly find the bottlenecks of MSFS lie outside of memory and disk I/O, assuming it's tested against a system with NVMe storage and 64GB of memory.
