April 7, 201610 yr I pre-ordered on day 1, and am eagerly awaiting the release. I'm 99,99% sure I'll enjoy every bit of it... Presently also using X-Plane 10 and Aerowinx PSX ( hiatus time for Combat flight simulators... ) I love both aircraft used as standard trainers and the DA-42 will be another great experience, I'm sure - used around here at some flight schools for ATPL... April 7, 201610 yr Was thinking Youtube would have been full of phone videos from RGX Rezzed (not so much Flight School but everything else). Nothing there at all yet. Very weird. Do they allow people to film there?
April 8, 201610 yr Erm, if there is sloping rain, at what degree of sloping would it be? I think it is a lot more immersive having a correct & accurate flight model that will help to show what flying can be like, instead of eye candy that takes up a whack of programming time, energy & programming space. An I mistaken, but is the Flight School meant to be a flight school for newbies & beginners, & not a weather display eye-candy game? Is it not more immersive to have better flight models than better rain? Or are we going to see lessons in landing in bad weather? Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

And relatively, I don't think it would take that much time to program versus how nice it would look. Eye candy is about immersion for a lot of people as well you know, a pretty important part of the experience especially if they want to attract new and younger simmers. Anyway, as this is a Q&A for Martin to answer, let's not debate our aesthetic preferences and let Martin respond.

April 8, 201610 yr I like what I see. Sure I want see this improved for the simulator. It was nice to see the new water and I think its a good start for $15 bucks and us just to get our feet wet. I, like you, really look forward to the full sim. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson

April 8, 201610 yr It`s ok for 15 Bucks. But looks similar to my FSX and still not better than MSFlight. This is definately not what you expect if you buy a game or simulator in 2016. I hope they will overhaul the whole thing for the full simulator.
April 8, 201610 yr Some people on YouTube and other fora are complaining about "stuttering". Based on my limited knowledge, I tend to blame more the video compression than an actual stuttering in the source, however it is really hard to tell without a test hands on. Which is your honest opinion about this? Others complain about some slow mesh loading (which is actually noticeable here and there), but I can assure you that I noticed the same in several GTA V videos. In general, I liked what I saw. I don't have big expectations as far as graphics are concerned. In my opinion, key factors are smoothness, stability and scalability (the last one not for Flight School, but definitely for Flight Simulator). This is what actually will make (or not make) the difference.

April 8, 201610 yr Honest first impression here is that the in-game video doesn't look very good. Maybe it's just nitpicking, and I know the main thing is about the flying instruction, but still... Water looks good. The terrain detail isn't bad, but it looks too dark and high contrast. The main thing that hit me was very odd sky colors, like "blue" skies that vary between either too purple or too aquamarine in color. And purple snow on the mountainside? I wonder if that's intentional eye candy for variety's sake, or just a quirk of the game engine. The clouds also have that odd "painted on" look with sharp edges, but I guess I'm just used to softer clouds in the other sim. Notice how much better the clouds look in the background of the initial title screen, which are probably not in-engine. Frankly, if you're going to attract "gamers" and get them interested in flying, I think it's important to at least match what's being done with the look of outdoor terrain and skies in AAA games these days. This has a distinct last-generation look, but maybe the flying lessons will be enough to make it popular. April 8, 201610 yr I think it looks pretty good. There's a bunch of people commenting on youtube saying that it doesn't look at good as FSX or even P3D with the best OrbX scenery installed. For 12 quid. Now I'm assuming that large areas of the US and Europe have similar detail levels (rather than it being half a dozen places with that level of scenery, all of which were featured here). If that's so then great. I really like the snow-covered mountains. I hope some of the ones in the UK will be snow-topped in the winter. Now show me a plane! April 8, 201610 yr Looks like it's based off FSX technology, as they promised. It doesn't have all the eye-candy of P3D, but who expected it would? P3D has a 5 year head start on all of that. For $15, you get a 64-bit sim, a flight school experience, and FTX Global. I can't really complain about that. I see the comments on the video that it doesn't look as good as FSX or P3D, but in all honestly, stock FSX and P3D look a bit dated, and frankly, bad. Daniel Moser
April 8, 201610 yr You can see the autogen popping up badly. Really was hoping they had worked on that. Looks like FSX with overblown atmospherics.
