This could be the reason for your bad performance with DLSS. I would get the DLSS Swapper program and make sure I had the latest DLSS installed. Also as Urgent wisely said, I would shy away from doing a driver change at the same time as a sim update, just to be safe only make one major change at a time. Anyway glad AMD FSR is doing well...I'll have to try it out tonight. Yes they were changed but I had already replaced them with the current versions with DLSS swapper. I rolled back to my older driver. Little to no change. The biggest factor for me us the Frame Gen setting. If I use NVIDIA DLSS FG I get a stuttering mess with constant spikes and FPS all over the place. Using AMD FSR FG I am back to almost constant smooth performance. Only some stutters on changing view and with some panning. I have no idea why this is suddenly a thing, although someone did reply to me in the official forums that this happened in the beta as well and I wasn't the first to report that changing to AMD FSR solved a bunch of performance issues. I'm running in 4K with a 4090 with Frame Gen. I'd strongly suggest anyone else having similar issues give changing the FG setting to AMD FSR and see if it helps. The difference for me was massive.
May 15, 20251 yr All running nice and smooth here, except changing profiles, which is taking as much as 15 seconds, each. Before this update the change was immediate.
May 15, 20251 yr Not sure if this was in the original release notes, but for those with frame gen issues: Quote An issue has been identified where selecting 3x or 4x for DLSS Frame Generation may lead to application instability. A fix is underway and will be available soon. As a workaround, NVIDIA app users can use the DLSS Override to enable DLSS Multi-Frame Generation.
May 15, 20251 yr Really happy with the patch, feels a bit smoother than SU1. Definitely not as stuttery looking around.
May 15, 20251 yr ^ yes SU2 is smoother and better performance than SU1 or 2020. Cleaning shader cache and deleting rolling cache made it even better. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. May 15, 20251 yr I do think there's something going on behind the scenes in the way that the sim is set up – and this goes for 2020 as well. I don't think it's a 2024 problem exclusively. Because how is it that it seems one group of people has endless issues with performance, CTDs, profiles being deleted, community folder being wiped, etc. And then you have another group - like myself - with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The transition from beta patches to releases has been absolutely smooth, never lost any data, good performance, don't really have CTDs (except for one time with Bijan but that's because I wasn't using the SU2 beta version). I wonder if it's platform / config related? For me, I'm on Steam, with a custom community folder location. I don't use add-on linker or AutoFPS, never had to clear my community folder - it's basically been gathering add ons since November. Does the Microsoft Store version have more issues when it comes to set up? Is there something else that triggers problems? There's something - or multiple things - behind the scenes that must be causing these problems. Edited May 15, 20251 yr by Georgleboui

I just saw your post over there (official forums) assuming you are atcogl over there. I also have a 4090. I will be updating MSFS tonight and see how it works for me. May 15, 20251 yr After updating I was surprised to see a "vJoy Device" as one of the controllers in my Devices List. I have no idea where that came from. It might be a duplicate of my Fulcrum yoke which is also listed as expected. Is there any way I can delete the vJoy device entry? EDIT: I unplugged all my controllers except the keyboard and mouse, and the vJoy Device was still listed in my controller's device list. Very strange. Al Edited May 15, 20251 yr by ark

I use the store version and have not had any major issues and overall the sim has worked better than 2020. The reality is people don't typically make posts to say everything is working fine, so the people who are reporting issues are a small portion of the userbase. When I've had issues in the sim, I've been able to find workarounds here or on official forums. I will say I don't run any addons, I don't participate in the betas, I don't mess with DLSS DLL's or manually edit config files, I keep my computer clean and up to date, and I don't automatically blame the sim when something doesn't work properly and turn to other forums (especially the Nvidia forums lately given their recent driver issues) to see if it may be something else in my setup. I'm also in a major city with gig internet (with no data caps or throttling) and a very solid home network setup and I do IT for a living, so that helps!
