I really don't know, which is why I mentioned only P3D and 2020. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to resolve it in 2020, I'm not spending any money on this version for 2024. I'm not interested in having two or three versions of the same 777 with the same issues carried over from the two different simulators, and now needing to purchase it again for the third simulator. I'm waiting for the 741, 744, and 748.

747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

    Just did my first flight. Smooth, without any hiccups. The performance is incredible, even better than some default aircraft. Nothing to complain about at the moment. Regarding someone's comments

Fingers crossed when they update the -300 in a month and incorporate the -200ER improvements this will be resolved and those with will power and self control (which are not my strong points) will still have a 777 in '24 without having to purchase.  At least then you can verify if it's improved.  Chaseplane actually exacerbates the effect a little bit as well so it is even more noticeable with CP.   

Speaking of purchase I actually used my P3D credit from the 737 on the 777 so I got the MSFS 2020 and soon to be MSFS 2024 777-300 at no charge 🙂  

It took them years but they finally got the RF legs working since P3D so hopefully they can improve this too.

Initial reports are looking positive so that's great to hear. Please keep the reviews coming! Whether for 2024 or 2020, especially flight dynamics, ground handling, and systems/avionics/navigation improvements.

If I remember correctly, I changed the aircraft settings in the options to KG's after loading the livery, I also changed the Simbrief profile to more closely reflect G-YMMS including changing to KG's.

What is so different between these 777versions? The tubes are different lengths. Other than that I don't get it! Seems like a pure money grab to sell all of them individually.

Not offering the -300 version first is Randazalous!

Nothing but a money grab in my opinion.

Basically 6 months to port the 777-300 over to 2024 seems pretty ridiculous for a supposed company at the top of the flight simulation market!

They make good stuff but the marketing and hype is other world!

I think they could have just as easily updated the 300 ER to work with 2024, and maybe charged a fee for that. To pay $80 for the same aircraft as the 300 ER that is a bit smaller and has different engines, is something I would never pay for.

AFAIK, the 200 represents the original IRL 777, while the others are of more recent, upgraded designs.

Different wings, different performance, etc.

That's a little simplistic. Different lengths also translate to difference performance characteristics. The 777-200er has 3 engine variants that also has an effect on the performance characteristics/sounds and displays. They also have some other differences in the type of equipment used (which may be purely visual). 300er also has a different wing design as well which accounts for differences in performance. To your point there is a lot of overlap, especially with systems, but it's not just simply one is longer. 

As for money grab, sure, you can make that argument. I'm not going to dispute it, nor is it my job to. Really the pricing model is OK if you're looking to purchase just one, maybe two variant, but if you end up purchasing all, it's not advantageous. I would say that I am not in a position to judge their resources. This is a niche subset of a niche hobby after all, and these companies have very finite resources and unseen costs to continue operation. A lot of different things goes into how they price it (how many employees/salaries, equipment, R&D, etc). They also can't just work on multiple projects the same way, and I gather that they were already well into the 200er development when 2024 came out and they can't just easily stop and pivot back to a plane that was released 5-6 months earlier.

If they charged a fee they would have been blasted for that, if they did the -300 for free before the -200 it would significantly impact their overall 2024 revenue.  Silly them for operating like a business with a bottom line and still offering existing customers a free upgrade a month later!

As for the name calling, whatever, the general theme around here seems to be the adults have left the building LOL.  

 

So lets recap

No one is forcing anyone to buy the -200 now or ever. 

If you don't want similar models of the same plane luckily you can buy them individually.  

People who are getting something for free should stop whining because they didn't get their free toy before people willing to pay for a NEW toy. 

It hasn't been 6 months since they got the tools they need post SU1

We should just pin this for every PMDG thread...

People sooked because in the past they had to purchase a base pack then their preferred version:

"I don't want a -200 which I have to buy to get my -300ER" they said.

Now you can get your preferred version without having to buy a base pack and we're still complaining.

Glad I don't produce software for this audience.

I am on the roll -77 dollars - is this for new customers or also for -300ER buyers?

Back in P3D, people were forced to buy a $140 bundle of 2-3 variants, when most of them were only going to fly one. Now that PMDG has given people the opportunity to buy each variant separately, people are still complaining, irrationally demanding that PMDG sell the bundle again for the price of one.

Treating the 200ER as just a ''shortened 300ER'' is a simplistic and erroneous view. The 200ER has three engine variants, a smaller wing and a different landing gear system than the 300ER, which increases the complexity of making custom fuel calculations for each variant and also new aerodynamic calculations based on these differences.

The difference between the 200ER and the 300ER is much greater than the difference between the A350-900 and the A350-1000 for example. The A350-1000 is just the stretched A350-900 with an extra pair of wheels on the landing gear and that's it.
