On topic:

Not a big A320 fan (I am highly interested in the A380 and A350 however), but as a enthusiast of complex aircraft, this will be a must buy for P3D. I understand some folks don't have the funds now, but you can always save for what you want. To use the flawed car analogy: You'll have $100 faster than you will have $250K for a sports car. Be frugal for one month and you should have your $100 plus tax (or VAT)

Off topic:

I watch Matt Davies on Twitch. I actually like watching the site (not just Matt) on longish flights. One thing I think this whole community needs is fresh folks wanting to come onboard with us. Most watching those flight sim streams aren't kids (they can be immature). I'm sure we could entice new devs and no ideas into our hobby if the "kids", and their hefty, disposable income joined the hobby.

Just waiting for it to come to P3D now. Have good flights.

Wouldn't it make sense to get a jump using the FSX version? Then some videos would be available before the P3D version comes along. It's always nice to study the videos before the product comes out.

Unless the P3D version won't be far behind.

Just thinking out loud :)

It's a good suggestion but coming back to FSX after P3D is like leaving your BMW at home and taking the bus. P3D is now more stable, has more eye candy and if you've got the hardware, gives a better ride. With the kind of stuff we'll want to cover in the FSL I want to put our best foot forward. Also the guy that will do it for us is very busy in the summer so it's likely to be a little while yet.

Trying to sift through the dozens of pages of threads across many message boards. Is there a manual available somewhere for viewing without purchasing? I'm mostly interested in what options or customizations are modeled (a la PMDG selectable aircraft options). Was also surprised to learn a sharklet model isn't included.

The Airline2Sim first look video parts1/2 is an easy way to get up and fly by following what he does. It's not a tutorial and an exact step by step guide but you can follow what the video shows and complete a flight.  https://www.youtube.com/user/flyairline2sim/videos

He established a Patreon account to actually help the community with their computer and flight sim problems. If you donate then you get access to his forum or something he talked a little bit about it one stream when he said he was overwhelmed with questions about setting up computers and flight sim and decided to go the patreon way to setup a community.

We are kind of going off topic here, but I believe his rate is (was) $30 an hour. You go through Patreon to schedule the time. He will then remote into your computer and help you fix any bugs or help with any flight sim software issues.

FSLabs has said that sharklets will be included, along with a319 and a321, a bit later on as expansion packs, because the sharklets version is much more than just a different 3D exterior model. The same applies for a319 and a321. They have yet to decide if they make the a318 afterwards which is more complex because of features such as steep approaches etc.

It seems this thread is now 60% Matt Davies talk, and 40% FSL A320 talk.......  I thought we'd left the Matt matter alone on page 20!

Oops, I think I just perpetuated the issue......

At first they said no to the A318 because they didn't know it had the same engine options as the A319 and A320, but I hope they do it as I am interested in the A318 more than any other models.

Funny how I was accused of " stirring the pot " , I made a post ( now on page 16 ) and asked a perfectly legitimate question ( which until now has not been answered )  and it seems that a few others agreed . Maybe it's a good thing you cannot be " downvoted " anymore .

As for the post count that anyone has or does not have , " my " generation ( or at least my family ) was raised with the notion that if you have nothing to say , say nothing . Having only a few posts under my belt doesn't make me an expert ( or troublemaker ) on any subject that I cared to post in .

I don't know if many have read this post : http://www.avsim.com/topic/492240-beta-testing/ and although not mandatory , it would make things much clearer when we know where some of you " hang their hats " .

With that I'm finished here , as far as posting is concerned , this love / hate thing that is constantly shown ( not just AVSIM ) in just about every thread ever started is not worth the bother .

Hate to see you go.  Have you ever reported an offensive topic or post?  There's a report button on the bottom of each post that you click on to report trolling or offensive comments.  Our moderators cannot be everywhere all of the time and this report brings the topic to our attention.  We will act appropriately.  What is offensive to you may not be offensive to me or one of the other moderators but we will act.  Trolling is everywhere on the Internet and people post just like to incite someone because they know they can get some people very upset.  They hope you will troll too so they can report you for trolling and maybe get you suspended or receive some other punishment.  My advice is not to feed the trolls.  We know who most of the individuals who like to incite and troll but the offense is not enough to ban or suspend someone.  In most cases we will just remove the post from view when reported (to include any responses to the troll).  It's the best we can do.  This includes topics started by trolls.  Trolling is not allowed based on the AVSIM Terms of Service.  I have no problems with suspending someone for 7 or 30 days for trolling but I would rather just remove the post or topic first.  If he/she continues, I will suspend the individual for 7 or 30 days at a time until he gets the message to stop trolling in our forums.

The car analogy isn't comparable. You could buy a 3-4 year-old BMW for far less than a new one. But you can't wait 3-4 years and expect the price of software to drop the same. It will still be $100 in 4 years.

That analogy struck me as odd too.

And anybody that pays sticker price for a new car is an imbecile.,

@ Jim ,

I was merely stating that I'm finished posting , not leaving , I didn't get involved in this thread until 16 pages had already been written and full of posts from people who were for or against anything and everything , I had a legitimate question and was neither positive or negative in anything I posted .  Neither did I feel the need to report anyone even after being accused of trying to incite trouble , even though I still fail to see where that is coming from , or deaf , or failing to understand my own language .

Unfortunately it seems that if someone doesn't agree with a persons point of view entirely ( and not just here ) , it can turn nasty in the blink of an eye , insults are " seen " with every word whether real or imaginary . I think that after being a member here for several years and with less than 300 posts , that proves that I do not come here to " stir the pot " in any shape or form .

I did not watch the entire 4 hour " video " promo on the FSL Bus , so maybe I did miss out on something really important but what I did see made me not bother to see the rest as every oppurtunity was taken to rubbish another developers work . That was not the reason I started to watch in the first place , I went there to be informed with a view to purchasing it and possibly making a series of paints ( as I have done with the " other " Bus ) but as I posted earlier , my loss , no-one elses .

As the author of that comment, it strikes me as odd that it wasn't understood correctly.  :)

The point of that analogy wasn't meant to be taken as an actual apple to apple comparison on cost.  Obviously, a car costs much more than this $100+ software.

The point of the analogy wasn't that a car gets cheaper in 3-4 years.  That is correct and is a difference between a car and this software(probably), I'll give you that.  So, I should have dotted my "i"'s and crossed my "t"'s for the ones that wanted to see past or read between lines or whatever.  :)

The point of the analogy had nothing to do with paying full or sticker price for a car either.  That, again, is irrelevant to the point I was trying to make.

So, let's see, can I say this in a way that people will get the logic?  Some of the early posts here were talking about the price in a way that made them come off, at least to me, like FSLabs was on purpose "pricing them out" of this aircraft.  Like they should price it lower just so they could afford it.  I was simply trying to make the point that they weren't and the fact that just because they thought $100 was too much didn't matter.  FSLabs wasn't/isn't going to lower the price just because these people, that seemed to me felt like they felt they were entitled this software, couldn't afford it.  The same way that as much as I'd love to have a BMW, BMW isn't going to lower one to my price range just so I can have it.

How can this not make sense?  You can insert any product in place of the car.  It doesn't matter.  The seller of said product isn't going to lower the price just because you feel it's pricing you out and you can't afford it.  The seller will sell their product for what they deem it is worth and that they think they can get in the market place.  They may be wrong and may indeed be selling for too high.  In which case, the market will determine that and the seller will either have to sit on his product or lower the price to actually sell it.  Maybe that will happen for FSLabs(though the fact that their early adopters program got twice what they were expecting in just 8 minutes I believe means that I highly doubt it).  Time will tell.  But still, the point being, for those that can't afford it, to say it in no uncertain terms, that's just too bad.  Save up as others have said.  Or, fly the Aerosoft.  That just is how this works.  It is what it is.  I'd be happy to pay $50 too vs $100.  So would anyone.  But it just doesn't work that way.  Sorry.  :(

**I am not trying to get anyone mad or offend anyone.  So I hope no one takes this in the wrong tone.  I'm just trying to convey my point.  Maybe I'm still saying it wrong?  Or, is my logic really that flawed or off?  :)

Regards,

I've been following this FSLabs threads with a lot of interest.

Honestly I think, although I do not own the FSLabs A320, and would only buy it when released for P3D, that users of the Aerosoft Airbus series still have there a great Airbus add-on. I actually think using both is really no problem, because each on it's own has it's strong points.

The FSLabs version is all about detail of systems modeling. The Aerosoft version is all about creating, with a single product which is pretty much self contained, a very good representation of a MCC environment, which can only be achieved in teh FSLabs model using additional add-ons.

I can't comment on the flight dynamics, but honestly, as a Aerowix PSX user, airliners in FSX all feel to plastic to me - not their fault, but the core FDM fault. Looking at some FSLabs A320 taxiing and takeoff videos, I see IMO too much trumbling/ shaking that I surely do not experience IRL in my jumpseat rides, and the aircraft keeps "zigzagging" along the rw ( maybe too sensitive tiller / rudder ? but it was on videos from different users... ).

Then, just as any other airliner add-on, including the PMDG 777, control inputs feel... plastic to me - no sensation of inertia, like for instance the one I can get in even the toy A320 in Aerofly FS....

So, I think we have a great new A320 here, with a much deeper ( for sure ) and probably ( I don't own it ) correct representation of systems details, but in no way one that could justify not profiting from what the Aerosoft equivalent offers....

Actually, for me, readu«ing through this threads, and having "magically" received an update of the X-Plane 10 Peter's Airbus CFM with VC cockpit and QPAC FBW, made me decide to play that one instead :-)
