  1. Sorry if this gets asked a lot, but I've read through so many TrackIR/Prepar3d posts that didn't apply to me. I have P3Dv3. I have Ezdok and TrackIR installed and they work flawlessly in my PMDG 737-800 NGX. When I change into the PMDG 737-900 NGX, the TrackIR fails to move anything. Ezdok is still operational in this case. I have no idea where the problem lies. Head tracking is enabled as far as I can tell from the Ezdok interface options. I thought I read somewhere that I need to edit the aircraft's cameras maybe? I don't remember needing to do that for the 737-800. Any help would be appreciated!
  2. Hello, I have P3Dv.3.1. I'm having a problem with TrackIR jumping when I have it run through Opus. If I deselect it in the configeration in Opus, it will stop jumping, but then I can't use the live camera. I'm sure that it is something that I have set wrong, but I can't think of what it might be. Thank you, Bob
  3. Hi guys, did you find a solution to reduce shimmering in P3D when using TrackIR in VC? I note there is a little shimmering in VC when TrackIR is active, but when I shut down it shimmering goes away completely. I didn't note the same effect in FSX. I use TrackIR 5 and Prepard3D 2.4 with 344.60 driver. Many thanks in advance, Ric
  4. X-Camera, from Stick and Rudder Studios a is an enhanced camera system for X-Plane 9 and 10 that lets you define multiple view categories and multiple views within those categories that are associated with specific aircraft. Take a look at this short tutorial on YouTube. Download from these two locations: X-Plane.org StickandRudderStudios.com Features TrackIR Each view can enable or disable the TrackIR input. If the view is out the cockpit window having TrackIR enabled is desirable. However, if the view is a close-up of an instrument panel then having TrackIR disabled is probably the better choice since the view will be stable making it easy to click on cockpit controls with the mouse. We also support LinuxTrack on Linux and Mac systems. HeadShake If the HeadShake plugin from SimCoders is installed then the view can accept input from HeadShake. Similar to the TrackIR feature you will likely want this enabled for certain views but disabled for views on instrument panel close-ups where a stable camera makes it easier to use a mouse to control cockpit knobs and switches. The HeadShake plugin must be at version 1.3 or higher for the integration to work. Smooth Transition When this option is enabled the camera with smoothly transition from one view to another over approximately half a second. When the option is off the view will transition immediately. Views can be controlled in a number of ways •Each view can be positioned by using keyboard keys or a control panel •The camera’s X, Y, Z, Heading, and Pitch can all be adjusted for each view •Views can be assigned to a HotKey or JoyStick button for easy selection •A HotKey or JoyStick button can be used to navigate to next or previous views •The views for a specific aircraft can be saved to a CSV file for easy editing Walk Mode Any view’s camera can be placed in Walk Mode. While in this mode the camera can be walked or floated around using keyboard input. If you ever played the video game asteroid that is what walk mode is like. The mode is particularly useful for pre-flight inspections of your aircraft. You can create a external view and after selecting that view you can “Walk” the camera around checking out your landing gear, props, etc. Linear Transitions and Auto Advance Linear transitions allows you to define a transition between two adjacent cameras in category. This capability, in conjunction with the auto advance feature, allows you define fairly sophisticated animations that can be used for automated Pre-flight inspections, scenery viewing, and cool transitions affects that can be used when creating flight videos. All the transitions in our YouTube video were done with X-Camera. What's New in Version 1.0 1.0 Added support for LinuxTrack. Read the LinuxTrack section of this manual for more detail Added support for 8 way hat switch panning Added middle mouse button simulation for easier mouse look operation on Linux and Mac Added enhanced transitions that allow you to create very cool affects for making flight movies. Also added license key support for these more advanced features. Added command to restore a camera to its original position Added roll support for TrackIR, LinuxTrack, and HeadShake. X-Camera now supports a full 6 DOF with these three options. Fixed a problem where X-Camera was not able to save settings for each aircraft if there was more than one .ACF file in the aircraft directory.
  5. Hello everybody, I m a new AVSIM member. I was reading a lot of your posts in the past, now I decided finally to be part of it. Going straight to the point I found a way to avoid installing EZDOK to use TrackIR under P3D. Maybe I'm coming a little bit late but if there are simmers out there needing this I can post a small instruction. Don't hit me if there is already something in this forum (I am very bad in search engines, especially forums one!).
  6. Ok, so I read up on this yesterday, and it could be quite good for simulation. It's not intended as a replacement of a mouse or keyboard. it demonstrates in 2 games, how it can be used, and it could have face recognition. If it will, would it make it better than TrackIR? Video demonstrating it here: It's not out until Q4 2012, so we have ages to wait, but It would be really cool, considering it's the size of a flash drive/pen drive!! What do you think about this?
  7. X-Camera version 2.2.1 is released. You can review the change log details in the user guide on the download page. There is also a tutorial that covers the major enhancements to X-Camera 2.2.1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vctMkjvRaoo If you are currently a 2.1.1 registered user your current 2.0 registration key will work with 2.2.1. If you are an X-Camera 1.1 user you will need to get a new key by registering again on our registration page. Here are the highlights of the changes: Fixed the problem that prevented X-Plane views from being activated Changed the method for smooth camera joins to use a three control point Bezier curve algorithm Improved the “Nearest Airport Camera” to find the closest airport camera file within a 20 nautical mile radius of the plane. Adapted the X-Plane 11 Multi-Monitor support on external cameras to work with the new way X-Plane 11 PB6 supports offset rotations Fixed a bug in linear and smooth transitions when joining cameras with the auto advance feature. The bug introduced an additional frame at the camera join points which would look like a micro-stutter as the transitions were processed Modified the “Create Orbit” function to not use “Smooth Camera joins”. This is no longer needed with the aforementioned transition bug fixed Add transitions for X, Y, and Z CG offsets Added a SMOOTH_WINDOW parameter to the X-Camera.ini file so that the default 60 frame smooth window for the smooth camera joins option can be adjusted Removed HotKey for toggle walk mode as it conflicted with movie recording Added X CG Offset Fixed problems with applying Y and Z offsets Added Next View ID and Previous View ID select commands Added Select Category by ID command Added Cinema Verite option per camera Added Copy and Paste Camera Added Copy and Paste Camera Set Implemented FOV for Bezier curve transitions Added “Toggle Target Following” to the list of common camera commands on the Mini Control Panel Fixed some focus problems on a few dialogs that was caused by the opening and closing of the Mini Control Panel Fixed a bug with enable temporary positioning where the camera would not get restored if it was the current camera and then it is selected again via a view_id command or by the Mini Control Panel Fixed a problem where Pan Speed Toggle could initialize in a random state if settings were never saved Significantly enhanced the Mini-Control Panel Add a row for cameras with View ID’s assigned Add a row of context sensitive commands based on current camera Allowed Mini-Control Panel to be pinned Added more context to the Mini-Control Panel title bar Significantly enhanced the Community Aircraft File functionality You can submit your camera files to the community from directly in X-Camera You can update your submissions with new versions directly from within X-Camera You can refresh your cache from the community file server directly from within X-Camera You can filter the browse list for matches on aircraft type or author, no need to hunt and peck through the list The list is now sorted by aircraft type When you load a file from a plane that is not exactly the same but similar, X-Camera will optionally attempt to fix all the cockpit cameras
  8. Hey guys, I've been using chaseplane in p3d v3 with no issues for a while now. Just upgraded to p3d v4, and I can't get chaseplane to work. Chaseplane connects to trackir with no issues (I see FSFX in trackir, so the program is being detected), but once in the sim, there's no tracking. I'm using v0.2.66 alpha exp. I also still have p3d v3 installed. I removed cameras.cfg from the p3d v4 folder in appdata and restarted the sim. I also reinstalled simconnect. Anything else I can try? D

  11. I notice that everyone here talks about the TrackIR and do not comment the regarding HAT-Track by VRinsigth.Does anyone have it and knows how to do it works with ezdok cameras? Thanks
  12. Hi all, I've been experiencing quite a lot of shimmering in FSX. Over the last weeks I have been searching high and low for solutions and I've probably covered almost topic. Until now I have been able to reduce it somewhat but there was a moment I just accepted it as part of FSX-life ;-) Until yesterday, when I noticed something strange.... When I use TrackIR5 the shimmering is there, but when I pan around with the mouse (using the middle mouse button), the shimmering is practically gone! It's really odd but true! I've only been able to find one topic on this but there wasn't much info there. Anyone experiencing the same thing? Or better, know a solution? 13. Hi, just curious..got the old trackir out of the cabinet. Have always struggled with setting it up. With Chaseplane settings, do I still need to set up trackir in the program itself with the head movement and all the other stuff. It really is not user friendly and to watch various youtube movies....most of the are not shown in a more user friendly or easy to follow format. Anyway, you get the point, I guess..lol. Thanks, Bob M
  14. Greetings, All: I'd like to know if anyone has had success or dissapointment with various types of 3D, stereo-image viewing in P3D (or FSX, only because they share the same code base atm). I turned on Nvidia anaglyph 3D on a lark, and the resulting increase in immersion within P3D was really something, in my opinion. Of course, the magenta/cyan combo isn't really good for long-term use, there's a lot of color info lost, and there are quirks with the Nvidia implementation approach, since it is independent of the program itself, namely ILS lights not being where they should, having to zoom way in to click VC buttons, etc. This got me interested in the real-deal, but there isn't much current information to be found, especially as it pertains to compatibility within P3D/FSX. Does anyone have experience in this area? Any good products on the market right now? Any specific ones to avoid? The most intriguing set-up I saw was from Vuzix, their 1200VR headset was alleged to not only provide high-res stereoscopic images, but built-in headtracking as well, rendering the track-IR obsolete. Color me skeptical. Any and all input is most appreciated. Thanks! Joseph D'Agostino
  15. After performing well for almost 8 years, my TrackIR 5 died last night. I bought it in the summer of 2010, and it's served me well for years. The camera section of the TrackIR application shows only solid red lines, which is an indication that the camera has stopped functioning properly. I've already ordered another one. Come to think of it, this is the first time I've replaced a piece of equipment with exactly the same piece of equipment (and not an upgrade of some sort). 😁 I just can't live without a TrackIR after using it for so long.
  16. My trackir do not work in chaseplane. The trackir application does not shut down, like it jused to do with Ezdok, and P3D etc before. Please help, I have to use the trackir :P
  17. I got this few days back and I must say the experience is amazing. However I had a question regarding operating the FMC, overhead panel and pedestal on commercial jets. Do you guys switch views to operate them or do you manage to twist around in the main VC view? I find it almost impossible to use them in the main VC view.
  18. I have had my TrackIR4 since around 2006 and it just gave up the ghost. I had to order a new TrackIR 5 from Amazon. I went ahead and ordered a spare TrackClip Pro too. I was just wondering what the normal life for a TrackIR unit is?
  19. Dear FSX and/or FS2004-users, I am happy to announce that v170 of FaceTrackNoIR was released yesterday. The new version contains a number of important improvements, which also benefit many FSX-users (as well as FS2002/2004 and MS Flight). The most important new features: A new filter called Accela, providing great stability and yet maintain response; A new curve-configurator, so response can be tweaked better than before; An IR-tracker called PointTracker. This was translated from the FreeTrack sources and is very useful for users, who already have an IR-headset; A new game-protocol called "FreeTrack 2.0", which supports all FreeTrack and TrackIR enabled games, including MS Flight. All new features are listed on the website. You are welcome to try v170, please visit the FaceTrackNoIR website Wim Vriend FaceTrackNoIR Team Holland :p0502:
  20. Hi folks,As others have mentioned here the default views were too zoomed out for me also, so i changed them:Go to C:/Users/yourname/Appdata/Roaming/Microsoft/Flight/Cameras.cfg( you may need to show hidden folders in folder options ) and browse down to Initial Zoom in Virtual Cockpit section[CameraDefinition.002]Title = $CockpitGuid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078}Description = This is the description of the cockpit view.Origin = Virtual CockpitInitialPbh=8.0, 0, 0MomentumEffect = YesSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FalsePanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FalseTrack = NoneShowAxis = YESAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 1.0 ...................................... change this from 0.6 to 1.0 as I have done.SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ZoomPanScalar = 1.0ShowWeather = YesThis will give a truer perspective while in the Virtual Cockpit and will be saved for all planes.Someone on this forum posted a slight look down view which you can see i have implemented above -with the line " InitialPbh=8.0, 0, 0 " which gives you an eight degree look down to show slightly more of the panel. Change numbers to suit.Hope this helps, get tweaking !Cub 1.
  21. X-Camera 2.1.1 is Complete We have competed the beta testing of X-Camera 2.1.1. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our beta test users for helping us make 2.1.1 a reality. The major new features in 2.1.1 are: Introduction of targets and target following cameras X-Plane 9 like chase view Integration with Scenic Flyer You can see the changes in action by watching the X-Camera 2.1 part 4 tutorial witch can be found on our tutorial page. There are also numerous refinements and some bug fixes. You can read about the details in the manual on our download page. Here is a brief list of the changes in 2.1.1: Fixed a bug where transition seconds was not being properly applied to Bezier transitions Improved documentation by adding direct links to tutorial videos Fixed a bug with the way camera angle and position was being calculated for external cameras. The problem was severe with extreme roll angles. Collected current community aircraft files Integration with Scenic Flyer Considerable changes to the way free and airport cameras are handled mostly oriented around keeping the cameras properly aligned with an ever changing X-Plane coordinate system. Beta testers, we really need your help testing free and Airport cameras to make sure we didn’t break something. Added a setting that will allow you to lock camera control from the keyboard if the control panel is not visible. This allows arrow commands which are typically mapped to general/up and general/down to go to the ATC window rather than always being captured by X-Camera and causing camera movement. Fixed a bug where the mini control panel was not enabling the selected camera if X-Plane was in circle or chase view. Fixed minor bug in the settings dialog where speeds were being displayed with more digits then what the edit field allowed you to edit. Added zooming with the scroll wheel on external cameras Added a Mouse Move Zoom command what allows zooming with the mouse Added Target Following Option to External Cameras Added Creation of Targets from Airport Runways and View Points Added a command to not only restore cameras from the camera file but also select the first category and camera Added a feature to auto select the next nearest airport camera Added an X-Plane 9 like chase view Added camera roll offset Corrected a design flaw in airport cameras that was starting to cause problems with X-Plane 10.4. See the release notes for more information. Improved TrackIR diagnostic messages Added support for the mini control panel to open on start Added support for optionally manually enabling X-Camera per aircraft Fix a bug that was causing you to click twice on a control the first time the setting dialog or control panel was opened Fix a bug that prevented the license file from being found of X-Camera plugin directory was renamed to something other than X-Camera You can download X-Camera from our download page: https://www.stickandrudderstudios.com/x-camera/download-x-camera/
  22. Alright guys, This is a little nifty utility i found on the web, many people are probably familiar with this. If you cant afford Track IR For FS9 I would go ahead and give this a try. Its called Facetracknoir it uses only your webcam. I haven't tried it yet but i will be giving a shot today. If you know of any other freeware that may do the same thing please feel free to share. Also If you have found something interesting or new to Fs2004 Tips or Tricks please share it with us it be greatly appreciated Link to FacetrackNoir......http://sourceforge.n.../facetracknoir/ Video Link See how it works>>>>>>> Thank you and Have Fun ;-)

  24. Hi guys, in your opinion which is the best angle and zoom settings view for TrackIR 5? I use it with EZCA and am satisfied, but it seems that angle view is not like in real life counterpart, especially during taxy. It's too close. I dont' know if it's possible to reproduce the same view you have in a real cockpit. Human has a wide angle view vs TrackIR, and the only way you can achieve this result is to zoom out your point of view position. So, have you find special or optimal settings angle and zoom view for your trackIR? Thanks so much for your replies, very appreciated.
